1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Surprisingly Positive Things People Have Said!

Oct 7, 2007

    1. My mother has always been about half and half with my doll interest, but what kind of shocked me in a good way was that when I was looking for a condo to buy, she would ask me "Is this place going to have enough room for you to work with your dolls?" or say "Hey, this extra bedroom could be your doll room!" She even got my realtor in on it, XD. The place I finally bought a few days ago allows my hobbies a room all their own.

    2. Most of my friends hate my dolls, so I was surprised when one of them asked how do you do the faceups and I was telling her about it and she was fascinated. So that was cool, as opposed to the usual "eeww it's creepy!"

    3. If it's one doll of mine that always gets a positive reaction it's my AOD Chen, Alvah. I'm always surprised because people find him to be very pretty and calming to look at, but he's my oldest doll and there fore has a lot of nood damage to him, from mistakes on faceups and has slightly yellowed (despite my cleaning). But I've come to the conclusion that he must have a 'confident' air about him that just makes people love him.

    4. Alright, I've got one! I don't have a doll yet, but I get to order my first on the 14th (YAAAAYYY!!!). I only discovered them like, a little over two weeks ago but instantly fell in love. I didn't want to tell my best friend about them at first, and I thought I would keep them a secret, but I did end up telling her, and she was completely supportive. She would never spend that much money on anything, but she understood why I would. Anyways, we were talking about it, and she said she had mentioned to our other friend that I was going to get an extremely expensive doll...I wasn't super-happy that she told her, and she asked if I was embarrassed and I said I was and she said something like, "Don't worry. I'm sure when our friends see how beautiful she is, they'll understand why you would spend so much." It was sweet, and I'm so glad she understands and is interested.

I was going to earn the money to get her on my own, but it wasn't working out and I told my dad, despite my embarrassment what I was earning money for and he wanted to look them up online...He didn't understand why I wanted one at all, but he understands that they make me happy, so he worked out a payment plan with me so I can get one. Even though I know he's not going to show much interest in her, it means alot to me to know that he at least understands that they make me happy.

    5. I had my Minifee Lishe boy with me at the art show I was hosting quite a few months ago. I had him sitting on my lap while I wrote down peoples names for the guest list. A girl in a few grades higher than me said "Your doll makes me smile, I don't know why." and walked away.

It really made my day, considering I'm used to negative comments from others...~ <3 :)

    6. The best thing I was ever told by a random dude, was never spoken at all.
I was siting at my best friend's bus stop, who at the time was in middle school, and i was a grade higher in high school.
So I had my blue Sprite with me when this lady dude drove by.

She took one look at me and Duchess,
Then smiled and gave a "thumbs-up" and them drove off.

That made my day so much!

    7. Well, all of my friends have usually positive comments about my dolls. They find them cute, mostly :D

I had the most curious reaction from my family when my Subaru came home. He's the limited Bory from Luts. My brother sat with me while I was opening the box, and actually loved the doll and his weapons (he even wanted to keep the scythe for himself), though he spent the whole time teasing me ¬¬ Then (after concluding the poor thing was a transvestite) my dad wanted to steal his wings, and my mum cuddled him the rest of the evening. I couldn't get a hold of my doll or his clothing/weapon/wings until late evening, when they deemed appropriate to return my dollie.

They teased me like mad about his delicate faceup, though. All in good fun, of course :)

    8. The most surprisingly positive thing, the most fulfilling, I have ever heard about my BJD which are (One Piece manga and anime series) already given characters is they have the essence of the characters on which they are based. In fact, most of the comments people have said about my all BJD are really positive.

    9. Since I have friends who like bjds, im used to a more positive outlook on dolls, but I was suprised how much my grandmother loved my choice of doll. I gave her the link for the kdf Bory I wanted, I was on the phone with her when she got on the site, I was expecting "oh my the price!" or "Why not get barbies instead?" but she squealed and giggled! She said she was adorable and would pay for the doll for me!

    10. I recently took Audrie into a Subway with me and while we were waiting for the person to make our sandwiches, two little girls walked in.
One about 12 and the other about 7. The older one kept staring at her all intrigued and she pointed Audrie out to her little sister and was all like "Hey, look at that pretty doll!" and they kept looking back at Audrie and me. XD
I went up to them and asked if they wanted to hold her and the little one got really scared when I handed her to her! It was really cute. :3

    11. There was once I took my B&G Afra to the mall with a friend (who also brought one of her dolls)... and we where stopped by a lady pushing an overloaded shopping cart so she could ask about the dolls. She kept saying how nice the dolls where and asked where to buy them and so many other things... It was incredible :) Usually I get everything but positive comments, so it was a really nice change.

    12. Hmmm, I've had some interesting comments, but someone on the Subway was curious as to what they are.
Interested as they were asked about the history and purpose.
And afterwards, she told my friend and I they were beautiful, and that they looked like us.
That made my heart soar, aha.
I think my doll is gorgeous.

That was a major compliment to both my friend and I. :)

    13. The TSA scanner-lady at San Francisco Airport security said my Volks Genji & SchoolHead B were beautiful-- and that was just from scanning the bag-- which means all she could see was two bald naked dolls, stacked head-to-tail like sardines, smiling away from between each other's feet, on a monochrome screen. :XD:

And when I took my Iplehouse Akando to a doll-related art exhibit up at the Petaluma Arts Council, he was a big hit with the Middle-Aged Northern California Art Lady scene. Bijan was swarmed by cellphone-cameras, and more than one coo of "Oo~ooh, there's my new boyfriend right there." <3But then Middle-Aged Northern California Art Ladies are a seriously fun bunch, especially once the free wine starts flowing. You never feel uncomfortable raising your freak-flag in a group like that, in the first place.

    14. I took a doll into a fabric store to shop for her and one other shopper and the clerk said she was beautiful. They wanted me to bring her back in the outfits I was going to make.

    15. I had someone say I had an awesome bj doll before i even owned one XD that was lol

    16. A lot of my close friends really love my boy, and they baby him whenever they see him. :) When I take him to school I get a few negative reactions or weirded-out looks from classmates. Though, I have been asked a few serious questions by non-BJD people. :)

    17. The first time I showed Zhile to my mom, she was smiling and said he looks like one of the F4 members. And parents from my church said that Ieanah is really beautiful and that they would like to get one too. Hee hee...that is until they found out about the price.

    18. The other night, my husband had friends over and one had not seen my doll collection previously. He walked into my office and exclaimed: "OMG those dolls are seriously cool!!" He even held one! It was fun to see a grown man genuinely exclaim over how awesome my dolls are.

    19. I get so many questions asking about what they are, their history and usually by the end most are intrigued and like them.

    20. People tend to instantly love Niccy. xD One time I was at an anime con and he was in his blue kimono. A girl waiting in line next to me saw him and was like "OH MY GOD. He is beautiful." totally made my day. xD
