It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Symmetrical or asymmetrical hand poses?

Jul 25, 2007

?
  1. Symetrical hands -- both posed the same way.

  2. Assymetrical hands -- two different poses.

  3. No preference either way.

    1. I voted no prefrance but symetrical hands a kind of boring (except in cases of the all so cute MNF shiwoo heart hands) but in most cases Asymetrical is better.

    2. Either way is fine, it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish when taking the photo or simply displaying the doll. XD

    3. I think two different poses makes for a more dynamic doll :)

    4. I like assymmetrical hands but it can be problematic for costume and fashion designs for dolls.

    5. I prefer asymmetrical poses. Hands are the most expressive part of the body, and it just seems like a waste to have them both in the same pose! Plus, perfectly symmetrical hand poses would actually be super unnatural, enough so that I think they'd look creepy to me.

Of course, my favourite option is hands in multiple poses, as many as the company is willing to produce. I don't mind if the 'default' hands are symmetrically posed as long as I can mix an match with other hand sets to get more dynamic poses for my dolls.

    6. Asymmetrical definitely! But I'm not picky. If they're symmetrical, it won't make me love them any less. :) But seeing asymmetrical hand sculpts makes me really happy, and would be a nice surprise if they were on a doll I was interested in buying!

    7. I'd say assymetrical just because it adds more interest to the hand poses and of course,a bigger variety to what you could pose with them.Surely the best option would be jointed hands, meaning you could adjust it anyway you'd like each time.

    8. I definitely would go asymmetrical. Symmetrical seems to "dollish" - I know that sounds silly cause BJDs are dolls, but I like them to be realistic.

    9. Mostly I prefer asymmetrical hand poses. Unless the doll is just posed sitting with their hands in their lap, it would be weird to have two hands in exactly the same pose. If you're posing for a lifelike situation, and I assume most people are, no people have their hands mirrored to one another for pretty much anything they do. Plus most of the time it's cuter when the hands are different.

    10. Asymmetrical uvu I think symmetrical poses tend to look fake; no human being has the exact same pose in both hands unless the hands are meant to be completely relaxed and laying on one's lap or something similar.

    11. Love asymmetrical hands, especially really delicate poses ;3;

    12. I'd say asymmetrical, just to give it a bit more variety!

    13. asymmetrical!!!

much more natural and interesting that way. symmetrical looks unnatural and stiff.

does anyone make symmetrical hands??? I don't think any of my dolls have symmetrical hands!

    14. Oh, that's pretty dual. 'Cause when they are asymmetrical i always like one hand more than another one and that bothers me in some way... But if they were symmetrical, it'd be just boring and take a lot from human-likeness... Which is dull. But that hand that i like less... It's like they're "good hand" and "bad hand". That's ridiculous, i know, i know... :)
