Taking dolls to school or college?

Feb 21, 2005

1. I brought my biggest boy to school today, and it was apain since he weighs like, 7 pounds >.< other than that I've gotten weird stares, 'voodoo doll', 'what the #@)&!', and other things like that. no malicious acts yet... but I doubt anyone would do something bad to my kids- I usually keep a pretty close eye on them.

The only thing was that in one of my classes last year when I brought a doll to school I eventually realised the carrier was too much of a hassle for me (they were out of so often) so my kids would sit on my backpack. eventually the people sitting around me got distracted by them any time I brought one to school- the teacher threatened to take them if I brought them again; so I just kept them safely tucked away IN my backpack instead of ontop.

so, make sure they don't become a distraction to you or others durring class time! (and don't let it be widely know that they are anatomically correct, some people want to see, some don't; if those who don't want to see do, they usually are not too happy about it)

2. I have three my little ponies in my locker that girls try to steal or damage, yank out hair or drop on the ground when I'm down getting stuff out of the bottle of my locket, they take them from the top. Luckily, there's been no causalities, but I am not keen on taking my dolls to school. I did once in Middle School when I was going on a school function, but I had the first two teachers (and only for that day.) Sign like, a piece of paper that said I was allowed to carry the bag, because otherwise they're allowed to take it away.

3. See, if it were me, I'd be so paranoid I'd probably keep him stashed in the locker the whole day, not even telling anyone besides friends that he was even in there, which would defeat the purpose :P

4. haha, awesome! (i love love love shiwoos~ x3) my grandma finally realised my shiwoo was a boy when i gave him a shorter wig, so maybe you won't have too much difficulty convincing people he's a boy after all..!

Ehh, even though our lockers have locks on them, I just *can't* leave either of my guys in my locker. I just don't trust it. My luck, the shelf would give out and crush my boys. ;_; I left Jay in there *once* for a few quick minutes, but if for some reason I can't take them somewhere during the day, I leave them with my guidance counselor, who locks his office door ifever he leaves his office. ;3 (Plus my one friend just WON'T shut up about how much i paid for them, so i'm 100% paranoid if they aren't either in my arms or directly in my sight within arms reach..>_> )

5. I take - or have taken - my dolls to school frequently. In fact, one of my teachers got so used to them that he knew them all by name, and noticed when I changed a wig or eyes.

For taking them to class, it depends on the teacher (and this goes for highschool AND college). You'll probably be able to tell, just from classes you've already attended with the teacher, what their response will be.

6. Watch out for greasy hands at lunchtime - yikes!

7. I've never brought my boy to school, and I doubt I ever will. :/
I don't want to bring him in the first place because I don't think I would have time to deal with anything that would happen, and I don't have any place to put him in when I don't want to hold him.

8. thanks for all the feedback and stories and suggestions guys! :D It's all very helpful and appreciated :)

9. I bring both of my boys to school pretty regularly, and everyone there has gotten used to it, even the teachers. Although when we've had to ride the bus, it's been interesting, as everyone wants to know what the hell is up with them. Today some guy saw Eli and said, 'is that a little dog?' :? the hell? EDIT: oh, and i do bring mine to college. X3

10. Considering how smooshed my sandwiches get just from being in there for the commute... MY DOLL WILL NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE. Unless it's for pics, travel, or something non-schooly.
And the boy in my carpool might be kind of... tetchy about it. He has the irritating anti-goth, anti-emo, homophobic policy that comes from too much time at Catholic school without friends.

11. I wouldn't bring mine to college classes with me, and I sure as heck wouldn't have brought them to high school/middle school, if I'd had them at that age. They're a distraction, and most teachers/schools frown upon distractions in the classroom.

School is for learning, not for playing.

12. I probably wouldn't bring any of my dolls to class just because I don't really see a reason to. I'm only on campus to go to class and then get off of campus as soon as possible. My college campus is so big I don't often run into people I know plus it's spread out and I have to walk a lot.

I think it would have been fun back in high school though :)

13. Hm.. When I get Alex I think I'll bring him to school once or so. But only on the shortest day and if I go to a friends house later (though my friend said she doesn't want Alex in her sight ^^ She's kidding.. I think)

I think that some of my teachers would be ok to it, but I'll probably leave Alex in his bag or in my locker in the bag. ^^

14. Wow, that's cool! :D I bet that was a lot of fun!
I'm not in school anymore, but if I was, I don't think I would've brought a doll. I'd be too worried about it getting stolen. T__T

15. I don't think I'll bring my girl into school... There's a lotta people in my school who don't give a hoot about anyone else, and I'm sure they'd be out to get her D= If something happened to her, I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself for taking her :( And some of my teachers [including my form tutor ¬_¬] are prone to confiscating stuff that we bring in D=
I might do when it's the last day of this year, when we go for study leave....

17. I just ordered my girl, and when she comes I'll be sure to bring her to my school! (Grade 11 in High school...). Besides I'm known as the fashion-obsessed/wierdly dressed girl anywayz, and I brought my other dolls (porcelin, stuffed animals, and even barbies for presentations (when I designed clothes for them...).

SO, in short I don't care if they get shocked that a 16 year old likes dolls, meh, I wouldn't want to leave her home alone, because thats too much like how my life is haha... -.-;;; I'll be sure to be careful.

18. I brought Samara to school with me today and everything was fine because the people in my classes are mature. I put her in her bag when I went through the halls so she wouldn't get smushed. All my teachers are used to me bringing weird things in so none of them had an issue with her.

19. Heh... I kinda skipped over the thread so if I re-say anything sorry! ><

I bring my dolls to school almost everyday. The only time I see issues is if it gets out on how much you spent, or the fact that they have all their bits. Though if neither of those gets out no one will really care. >^^<''' I've walked around my halls with Tallon on my shoulder and no problems so I say go for it!

20. I rather bring my doll to Uni\college instead of junior\highschool >_>
