Taking dolls to school or college?

Feb 21, 2005

    1. My friend used to bring her Dollfie Dream to school all of the time. Of course, she's vinyl and can take a whole lot more abuse than a resin doll, but she was mostly fine. We got some funny looks, but taht was about it. I still wanna bring Ichiikun to school some day, but I'm always afraid he'll get broken.

    2. Sooo...I brought Kassondra to school on Thursday and for the most part, she rode around in my purse, bald..cause she'd count as a "toy" if I took her out...But, in LA I got to take her out! :D My teacher was cool and let me do that. It was still fun having her in my purse, though, like carrying around a little friend. :3

    3. i also take my doll to work with me and out to eat she sits on the table. i get funny looks but i don't care people can like me or not and judge me or not i don't care what people think of me. also about letting the dolls getting broke if ur that worried about how delicate the dolls r why on earth do u buy a resin doll if ur worried even a little touching would ruin it? when i go out a see little girls who r crying in the store adn things like that or babies i let tehm play with my doll. i take her out and have the doll "dance" then let tehm hold her and pull on her. it cheers them up and if something breaks you it's not like u can't fix it. ok the hand broke buy a new hand the foot broke buy a new foot.

    4. Well, i'm trying to take him this friday, using spirit day as an excuse, and by making him a school hoodie, and such. Of course, i WOULDN'T do this if i didn't have two independent classes (both virtual) in which I don't really /have/ to be concentrating on the class.

      I'll most likely have to put him in my locker during chem. though, becuase there are a ton of immature and irresponsible people in that class. And, fourth block is German, and, although i think the seniors in the class are very immature, and will make alot of stupid comments, my group of friends (who atually don't act like 3 yr. olds....) would probably appriciate him, though.

      Of course, my one big worry is my best friend being terrified of dolls... :sweat don't no how that'll work out....

    5. xD
      She wouldn't even let me bring him on the half day. ;~;
      Haha, we MUST have the same mom. 8D

    6. well, i had people call artemis a hooker, just because she was wearing low rise leather pants, and it was showing her tattoo that wraps around her waist, i was mad. mostly they said she was gorgeous, and i loved that. :)

    7. last year when i had my mini i took him to school when i had finals. I only took him because it was my second to last day, and I had two of my most difficult classes then. He stayed in my messenger bag, and I pet his head when I got frustrated with anything. It made me feel a lot better about the exams actually! It was a comfort :) I cant wait until I save enough for another mini. I bet she'd like traveling where Mona can't :) Mona is just way too big to take to school.

    8. i have a freind with a really bad doll phobia and me and my roomates at collage locked him in the bathroom between ur rooms with my dolls. he screamed alot. and then crawled into the shower and closed the curtain till we let him out after hiding the dolls. it was lot's of fun. then we posted pics of the doll on our dorm door so he was afraid to knock on our door it was funny:lol:

    9. why would u get mad that they called ur doll a hooker cause of the way she was dressed? i'm sure u've made comments about people looking like hookers for being in slightly revealling clothing or types of clothing

    10. bump coz it's interesting lol

    11. here here! :lol:

      I don't buy these dolls to throw around X3 just because I have the funds to buy a doll does not mean that I'm about to toss my doll into a wall because I have the ability to fix him...my boy isn't for playing in that manner, if I wanted a doll to mess around like that I'd buy a barbie at a yard sale, heh.

      I'm sorry, but that's just horrible, almost revolting...people with phobias have a real, intense fear of their phobias (thus the name)...I really don't see how that's something afriend would do to another friend...

      whoof, this is an older topic ^^; I almost forgot about it.

    12. Well, be prepared for teacher's weirded out reactions or the 'AWWW, he/she's so CUTE!' reaction and be VERY aware for kids pulling off their wigs and head caps being pulled. O_O My sister brought her DoC Wi to school only to get....'abused'. And if you're bringing a girl who's wearing a dress, make sure no one pulls up the dress; its disrepectful. And careful of when your friends just might take your kid out of your hands! >_< So eh, be very aware, I havent even brought Hana to my school yet! O__O

    13. Well, I'm in 11th grade at a private school, and, as when I mentioned it while talking to scootkadoot once, I go to a...well, not a very rich school. XD; (Like, some of our classes are in trailers right now cause it's being renovated...) Also, I go to school with tough kids that smoke in the bathrooms and there are fights everyday. ^^; So, I really can't give advice because I would never DARE bring my guy to school (he'd be MURDERED in 5 seconds there).

      However, because I'm somewhat pessimistic, I would say that you should be prepared for the worst. ^^; I believe in that saying that you shouldn't bring things to school with you that you aren't prepared to lose. But, if you have a happy environment, go with it! XD I hope it works out for you!

    14. Wow- until I checked your location I totally thought you went to a school near me, SahsiMizumoto.

      The school I go to I would never bring Duckie. It's a small Catholic school. Heck, no one but my parents and a few aunts and uncles know I even have her. Some of my friends can be a little judgemental and the non-judging ones aren't interested. I've already decided that when I get to college (which might be sooner rather than later if this whole skipping a grade thing pans out) I'll either not take her for the first quarter to check the place out or I'll keep her in a trunk in the closet to see what the reaction would be.

    15. Well, I didn't have my boy when I was in high school, but I went to a good school so I probably would have brought him once in a while. I bring him to my college classes with me sometimes, though. Mostly on Tuesdays, because he has a place to sit that's not in the way or distracting during my Tuesday classes. My professors haven't minded, probably because I don't make a big deal about having him there so it's not interrupting their lectures. If anything, they've been really interested in him! I do make sure that I bring my larger messenger bag to class when I have him, though, just so if I need to put him away for some reason, I can.

      As far as having him in my room when I'm not there goes, I don't worry about it at all. Besides the dorm security and the locked door to my room, I also think that any would-be thieves would have to know an awful lot to know to take the doll, and would probably still take my laptop, TV, Playstation or DVD player before they would bother with him. Unless of course it was doll-person on doll-person crime (shock! horror!) ;)

    16. I've brought Henry (Chiwoo) to school with me, but only after being requested to do so. After a few people met him, he's become quite popular. ^^;; One of my close friends is/was a tutor at my college's success center, and since I study there for hours on end, I've been repeated asked to bring him by. We keep saying we're going to make him a little tutor's vest. But, he sleeps on the job. Still, it isn't unusual for me to be studying with a tutor saying "bye Henry!" as they walk out for lunch. It's become almost habit for me to pick up up and take him with when I am going to have a long session of studying one day. I know that if I have to run off to get a book from the library, or have a class, there will be at least one tutor who is dying to babysit him. ^^;;

      I suspect that anyone wishing to bring their dolls with them to a school environment would have better luck in a college or university, than at High School.

    17. I am in college now and my dolls always put on my desk
      I told my roommates don't touch my dolls when I'm no in room and help me to protect them. We are good friends ,so they willing to help me^^
      I think I can just do this to keep my dolls safe.

    18. I've always got some odd thing in my purse or on my clothing, so I wouldn't get as many odd looks, at least not from people who know me a little. I've already taken some of the anime plushies I made into school to sell, and they all lived.

    19. I know I posted previously here, but since then I've gotten my doll...And I got a dz msd, so she's small. I bring her with me everyday to school. But, I'm a junior in high school. And my teachers don't care about my doll at all. I keep her sitting on my desk in all my classes. I haven't gotten that many negative comments. Only one or two from some immature guys. Otherwise, anyone else who's commented've thought that she's cool. And now a few girls want a bjd because they've seen mine. ^^

    20. I was a bit worried about having my boys at college with me, but my roommate is wonderful, and we both respect each other's stuff, dolls included. :3 Our rule of thumb is don't touch the other person's stuff without asking.

      I've had to take them to class a couple times, not by choice, but because it was either they come with me after a photoshoot, or I end up late for class. ^^; People seem to like them, and aren't creeped out by them at all. One of my professors actually likes having Arioc around for whatever reason. :3
