Taking dolls to school or college?

Feb 21, 2005

    1. Sid chills out in my dorm (on my bed out of the light during the day, on my desk at night, so I don't smash her into the wall). I dont think I'd take her to class unless it was an art class or something (I'm debating taking her to my creative writing course depending on the layout of it). but generally she just sits around and freaks my roomie out. ^^

    2. If people thought me bringing my doll to school is creepy, weird, or just plain wtf.. I would have to reply:

"Well, it certainly is better than bringing HASH or other drugs in your pockets, now is it. ;)" (I do go to a continuational High School.. where alot of the druggies and gangsta's attend because they didn't fit in with normal school. 'I' was put in because of my bad grades. -,-'' )

I don't know if I'd want to bring my doll with me anytime soon though.. I have a stuck up teacher that'd probably give me a hard time about it.. I hate his guts.

Then again, I have an awesome teacher that'd probably think my doll'd want to take over the world or something. XD

    3. I didnt bring my doll to college with me mostly because i didn't want to worry about what would happen to him in my dorm room when i to classes and what not. Next year in my apartment though i plan on having my doll with me.

    4. My resin kids come to school with me all the time. they go on the first day of each class, i explain to the teachers they could pop in through out the semester and i ask their feelings if it's ok if they are on the table or prefer in the carrier. have yet to have a teacher say in teh carrier. and i've had two teachers be very very interested and asked me to teach classes on them. XD which is love. exspecially in the advance human sexuality class.

now bad things to happen. i have a freind who likes to grab things of mine and run off with them and hide them. he ran off with gav my xi-aliester. while holding a red cool-aid drink. to say the least for once i sprinted after him.

also a freind is terrorfied and another freinds brother is as well. and my freind punched my megi doll laki across a table. we caught him before he fell. when he did that i grabbed gav and tucked him under my arm. but i was still laughing at his terror.

    5. I actually plan on taking my doll(s) on campus with me. The college I'm going to is relatively small, and through the visit, I learned that it was like a small community. The dorm room I spent the night in was always unlocked, and even opened for several hours so people could drop by and say hey and talk about all sorts of things. At first it felt awkward, but it kind of felt that the girls were looking out for each other and were somewhat close, so I liked it. I actually wouldn't mind having my doll live there. I'd still put him up while I was gone, or maybe even carry him with me, but I do expect some level of respect and trust from the girls.

    6. Today I brought my doll to school. Though I only brought him out at recess. I got positive responses from my friends so I'm happy :D Thought they were all shocked at his price :sweat

    7. I would love to take one of my dolls to school with me but most of the time I have too much to carry. That and I'm in a high school sixth form..which means the common room isn't the safest place for a doll to be :sweat

When I go to uni though, I'll probably take them everywhere. Insurance sounds like a good idea first though...

    8. I don't think you really have to worry about it. Like someone said in a previous post, they're more likely to swipe a cd player of a game system.

Example: My boyfreind was broken into last year. They stole all of his newer generation game systems and the newer games that they want to play, like grand theft auto, halo,(etc). However, if they knew their facts about game collecting, all of the really valuable stuff was right there on the shelf in plain sight. All of his sega saturn games that are now worth thousands were left unnoticed.

There are reasons why people break into your house and steal your things, because most of them are too stupid to make money anyway else. Just don't go advertising how much your doll cost you and you should be fine.

    9. The only time I'd feel safe taking my boy to school would be during 'spring fever'

We have the last half of our classes off and we can do whatever :D

I wish I had my boy for it this year, maybe next year...*sigh*

My friend's SA Saint might arrive in time for spring fever though...

*_* Imagine to teenage girls sitting on the sidewalk with a best like him, lol XDD

    10. Haha, maybe on the very last day!
      But only then.
      Most of my school is gangsters and such, so they'd probably shoot him or shove weed in his head or something O_O;;
(Curse you badly located magnet school!)
Plus, my school is way overcrowded, he'd get pummeled going down the hall!
      Nuuuuu~
But I wish I could ;_; That would be awesome.
So maybe the last day or something :)

    11. ^^ No I don't take my little man with me to college but I will be since I'm actually doing a paper on BJDs. I'm kinda curious to see the reaction he would get though I know what some will do xD like my friends that like to take his wig off ;^; poor Lucien.

    12. Well, I havent experienced that yet. I am a college student and I am getting my first doll. But I know for sure that when I get mine, I will have to be careful with it because first of all, we have like 4 pugs inside and they go everywhere. Second, when my family throws parties, I have like these kids that come over to my room and are curious about these goth dolls that I have standing on my table. They even try to pick them up but I give them a look and they put them down lol. So yea, if that ever happens, I'm gonna hide him.

    13. I brought Hotaru to school yesterday. o_o No one really said anything outstanding like "OMG SO PRETTY" or "CREEPY"
One of my classmates said she looked kind of sad and actually intelligently commented on her appearance. A'course, being a good friend of mine he knows I have weird hobbies. XD
And my math teacher thought I brought her "for some kind of comfort" (like a stuffed animal) and I was like, "Not quite. XD'' "
But some people definitely were scared of her/me. But I don't care. >D I'll be bringing my other "kids" to school in the future, since people at my school are generally very respectful and I have a carrier if I need it.

    14. Oh Goodness, I never thought of this before now i supposes thats something else i have to worry about. Though im not the best when it comes to sharing so i've requested a single room so i dont have to deal with it XP hopefully i'll get it

    15. When I get my first resin, it'll hopefully be right before I [hopefully] go to a summer program at the college I hope to get into. So much hope!

But if she does come, I'll DEFINETLY bring her around campus and stuffs. It's in Jupiter, FL, which if you haven't been there/heard of it, it's GORGEOUS!!! Really well-maintained, pretty areas with friendly people. And the campus has a mini town center in it with a fountain that I MUST have a picture of my girl posing in front of. :fangirl:

I also plan to bring her to school and work to show my friends and coworkers, who are all dying to see her. I don't know how I'll tell my guy friends though, since they know me as [mainly] a tomboy whom they can fight with and stuff. I just hope they don't get pervy on her... :|

My coworkers, though, keep asking if I've ordered yet, when she'll come in, and when I'm planning to bring her in. I've shown pictures of her to them, and they can't believe how artistic and realistic BJDs are, which makes me happy. :) :D

    16. Well, I plan to leave mine in my locker. Although, the thought of a 70cm dollmore model doll cramped up in my 50 cm high locker (which is divided into 2 shelves) is kinda worrisome. (I hope he's not scared of the dark!)

    17. not schooling anymore, but i took my little one to work and i ley her sit inside the pantry since my locker isn't big and wide enough for her to sit in

    18. I brought my doll up to school with me, but no one seems to find it strange.... A few of my friends have commented that it's creepy, and I use him every now and then to scare my friend's inconsiderate roomie, who's terrified of dolls--I'm bad people, I know--but for the most part, people don't seem bothered that a college student brought a doll into the dorms.

Then again, we ARE renowned for being artsy, strange folk here at Humboldt State.

My roomie is very considerate about my stuff, and I hers. Ghost sits on my desk and looks pretty most of the time, and when I'm messing around with him, taking pictures, my roomie doesn't comment either way on it. I've actually made a lot of friends because of Ghost, which is wonderful. The people at the fabric store downtown know me as 'the blue-haired doll girl.' My blue hair, not my doll's. XD I've also used him to win contests at said fabric store--free craft materials! Whoohoo!

It depends hugely on where you're going to school, and what sort of person your roomie is. At the very least, you should consider bringing a lockable trunk or box that's difficult to steal, and you can keep your doll in there. A footlocker is great, because you can store lots of other stuff in it during the year as well, AND use it for a table or shelf.

    19. I`m maybe returning to high school this fall, for the 3rd time, and I am totally going to bring my dolls to school. I remember how bored and alone I felt in the recesses, so this time I am going to bring my sewing kit and one of my dolls everyday to keep me company. :) I am not very social and a little shy in school... So I`m hoping I`ll find a fellow BJD enthusiast.

    20. I am transferring to another college this Fall and even though I won't have my litle guy yet. When I do get him, he will stay in the dorm with me. I always get my things insured at college since you never know what could happen.

I am worried over him since we have huge windows and I don't want the sun to bother him but we have bookshelfs so he will more then likely hide in one of them.
