1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

talking to your BJD

Sep 26, 2014

    1. I tend to talk more at my dolls than to them. Like when posing, if I can't get the arm where I want it, I might tell the doll he is being difficult. Or tell them to stay right there while I seek out where I last left my camera, or am writing a scene.

    2. It helps me figure out their character, as others have mentioned. Also, I like the sound of my voice and I talk a lot anyways so I don't see the issue!

    3. I don't talk to my doll like my little sisters with their Barbies but when I wanted to photoshoot my BJD and can't keep her stand up (it's difficult cause of her legs), I grumble like "Sh*t, you will make me crazy ! You're very like a diva !"

    4. When posing a doll I'll say "hold your arm up!' or "what are you doing' or if I change clothes or wigs "There that looks nice" or " why does this not fit you?" haha its usually something small I don't talk to her a lot.

    5. I do. It is a bit relaxing and sometimes helps me organize my thoughts.

    6. Honestly?

At first, when I was just getting into BJDs, I read posts where people were talking about their dolls like they were people. Or saw videos where they would speak to them like people. And I thought, wow that's... really weird... uhhhh...

But now??? I do it all the time! I'm scared I'll do it around other people, haha!

It really helps bring them to life, in my opinion. It helps me bond with them more! Sometimes I'll lean into their diorama and give them both a little kiss on the head or a pat or say hello or some sort of interaction with them, because it just makes me feel good. It makes them feel as close to real as I'll ever be able to feel them. These were characters I made in early high school, and they honestly mean the world to me. So having them in doll form, and being able to physically interact with them? It feels so good. Almost like what I'd imagine being a parent must feel like, lmao.

So, yes, I'm very guilty. But I'm really glad I got over that "weird" judgement I had and just dove right in. It makes me feel a bit more part of the community, and better bonded with my boys. ^^

    7. hello again ^^ i posted on this thread a while ago and realized i have an update on this subject since then in that not only do i talk to my dolls my friends do as well ^^
They each seem to have their favorite doll and therefore one that they talk to the most. My roommate talks to my SD girl the most, usually about how much trouble she is when my roommate is trying to work with her,
Another one of my friends loves my doll chateau lance (aka Nemo) and always picks him up to hug him and talk to him, and now that his girlfriend Roslyn had been shelled as well they always need to hug her too ^^
my mom will talk to whatever doll i have with me. normally about how their clothes or hair needs to be rearranged or that shes worried they will fall from where they are sitting ^^
my sister will titter at them when they fall over or get into trouble calling them little deer's

    8. I wish them good morning and good night on a daily basis! But i do talk to them when i am changing their clothes or wigs asking them whether they like it? lol

    9. One of my dolls’ characters is an ‘imaginary-friend’ who I talk to all the time, especially when driving. But as for conversations with the dolls themselves, (aside from “hey, hold still” while dressing, etc) no, the two are intentionally kept separate.

    10. I talk to my dolls almost a little too much to where it's eerie/uncanny. About any and everything. I also pause to listen to their reply. Since my dolls have characters to them that i've created, they take the convo from there.

    11. Yes, I do that. Or rather, they talk to me. If they do not, something is wrong (that is, they don't address my imagination). So it is essential for our relationship. Doing that, they make my imagination go fly, and this is just wonderful.

    12. Yes I do! I talk to them when I dress them. I get angry when they don’t stand up:mwahaha

    13. I talk to them but also I kind f do it in an artistic sense? Like.. when you do a painting and ask them to tell you about themself...

"What do you feel like wearing today?"
"How do we feel like doing our hair, baby?"

      etc etc

    14. I talk to my many off topic dolls amongst other objects. It always ends up turning into an argument.

    15. Yes, I often talk to my dolls when I change their clothes or take pictures of them

    16. I talk to my girl. Most thing I say is "Aida no". Mostly because she seems to be doing things behind my back that she isn't supposed to be doing or is highly inappropriate.

    17. Since I now have more than one set up, I walked over to each and flattered them so nobody would feel neglected.

    18. I talk to my doll, but in the same kind of way I talk to my computer or my cats. "No wait stop!" if she starts falling or "Oof, hold still!" if I'm struggling to change her hands or something. Or sometimes I just fuss over her and tell her she's pretty. I haven't quite made it to having conversations with her - yet, haha. We'll see if I haven't changed my tune in a year or so.

    19. Sometimes I tell Flora that I love her! It's silly I know, but I love my two dolls a lot!

    20. yes pretty much like "hey pose properly!"
