1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Tenshi no Sumika LA limited edition dolls

Oct 29, 2005

    1. The prospect of scalpers almost makes me wish it would be limited to maybe two or three dolls per person total, for all types. :oops: Since the vast majority of people can't or wouldn't buy more than that at once anyway, and that way you could still get one for yourself and for a friend or two who couldn't make it. I might be able to make it to the opening (can we say 8 hour car trip?) to try and buy a LE, and I admit that it would irk me if a bunch of people in front of me bought a ton of dolls (not to keep) and I didn't get one at all.

      But, it is really nice that some people here are offering to buy a LE doll for someone who can't make it but wants one. :grin:

    2. That's probably why Volks limits these dolls. Scalpers make it difficult for honest people who really want the doll of their dreams to do it legitimately when they try to make a profit off both Volks and the people who really want the dolls.

      Personally, I find it very selfish and rude since there are many honest people who would not think to do that to others who want an equal and fair chance at buying a doll they will cherish.

    3. I wonder how long it will take for Volks to allow people to do FCS online (if they are at all). That way, I can just make one trip to California to get her, not that that's going to happen anyway. I don't have a job and my family isn't the richest in the world, plus I'm college, so money, for a doll, is scarce. :(

      I originally had $870 in my checking account, but I just paid rent yesterday, so now I'm down to only $460, which I don't think is enough for a FCS MSD. I'm sad. I really wanted her to be my own. If I were a great face-up artist and all I'd just buy the assembly kit and paint her myself, but alas, I don't have the skills or the confidence to pull that off, nor do I have the money. It would be a lot better just to buy her ready than to buy the parts, then MCS, then paints...I don't know what to do. My family just barely let me have Ayuka (SD Nana). I feel like I'm being kept back solely because of money and family. I can't go to the opening in November, because my parents wouldn't understand. I don't think even my grandmother (who bough Ayuka for me) would understand. I'm at a loss.

      :cry:

    4. I meant MSC.

    5. does anybody know how many they are making of each? or whats the usual number of LE dolls they make?

    6. Volks have always said they won't put FCS online, or at least, not for people outside Japan. That notice on their English site about online FCS has been there for years. They like people going to the stores, because they see it as a special experience between the owner and the new doll... online or phone orders are sort of impersonal to them.

      Kiss - You know, that's a very good question! They never tell us how many LEs they're going to release... maybe someone could ask them at the opening/reception? I'd love to know a ball part figure. It seems there's more and more available each Dolpa these days, not to mention the preorders.

    7. I hate Scalpers!! They make ppl who trutly wants the LE doll have hard time !!!

    8. thanks for the info. it would have bugged me until i got there. i was hoping to buy one for my graduation gift for myself ^.^ it would be good if they told us a ball park number.

    9. I'd just like to make one comment.

      Please stop complaining. Volks has made a huge effort to create a new store, and opening events for North American SD owners- that they have no reason to. They make more than enough money etc through their Japanese customers. So what if you can't get one each of the LE and a FCS and and and... most of us can't afford to do that anyway unless for resale.

      They are not "making the LE harder to buy." If this was a Japanese event, even fewer US persons would be able to get them! Then EVERYONE would be buying through those same scalpers you're accusing people of being. Also, because it will be US persons physically buying them, other countries will have a better chance to get them, as there is far more convenience and cultural acceptance for international transactions in the US than Japan, especially with huge global resources like this very board. Please be respectful of the way Volks chooses to business, and be appreciative that we have ANY opportunity for this event.
      Negative feedback is only going to make it less likely for Volks to continue with their oversees efforts, both in store creation, and events.

      Sorry if it sounded rant-y. ^_^;

    10. I totally agree. ^_^ But it seems that much of the "complaining" being done is about scalpers, and I hardly think anyone blames Volks for those! Of course there can't be an unlimited supply of limited edition dolls so that everyone can get one easily; those would be called standards. :chibi And while I think most people understand that just fine, it doesn't make people any less anxious about trying to get a certain doll. ^^;; As anxious as I am about trying for one at the opening, I still think that Volks has set it up very fairly with the lottery system and while I'll be disappointed if I don't get one, I certainly won't be upset with Volks. :daisy But I would be annoyed if there were five scalpers in front of me in line that bought the last ones, y'know? :wink:

    11. A kind of boring but crucial question. Suppose one is lucky enough to get the LE one wants, at the site itself. When you are given the doll, does it come in a box suitable for mailing, or do you have to find another shipping box if you plan to mail it?

      Thanks!

    12. Does anyone have an idea how much the Re-release of the Sweet Dream Yo-SDs will be? x___x' I'm planning on buying one and am trying to figure an estimate. ^_^

    13. The ones sold in Japan were 34,650Y retail, so it'll probably be around that, give or take a few bucks due to whatever exchange rate they use.

    14. So arounf $315? With an exange rate of 110 yen per dollar (which is what both Celga and Rinkya are using currently) it comes to that. ^_^ Just wondered if they'd be the same as in Japan, or a bit different. =3 Thank you very much! That means it'll take me less time to save. x_x

    15. There'll probably also be a 8.25% sales tax too though, just to let you know.

    16. Bump? ^^;

    17. does anyone know if Volks plans to have an After Event sale of the LEs?

      and, would you be able to preorder a doll that's sold out like at Dolpa? :?

    18. This was just a few pages back - looks like they aren't going to be available online.

    19. It seems to me that since it's not too clear whether Volks can help us with shipping boxes, it's probably a good idea to prepare to set up our own shipping, including finding a FedEx Kinkos, or UPS store nearby. There will be a few DOA-ers with cars coming (myself included), and probably more than one soul who would rather ship their doll home.

      If it seems like there's a call for it, I could hunt down outlets closest to the DOA hotel. ^ ^

      Also, some hotels can help you ship stuff. Are you staying overnight? Worth a phone call to the concierge's desk. Hotels that serve airports are accustomed to business travelers and will probably be able to at least get us directions to a local UPS/FedEx outlet.

      I love a proper hotel concierge... XD
