That one turn-off

Aug 2, 2012

    1. Well, I haven't seen many dolls yet, but I know the ones that have the baby faces and the adult boobs/bodies are kind of weird to me. I'm also not a fan of the anime faces, which is weird because I love anime and I love anime statues...but for some reason, not on a BJD. That's weird I know. I don't hate them, it's just not something I would buy myself.

    2. I'm not crazy about teeth showing, females with the really large thighs/bottom half, and scars. I've seen some with these things that I like but most of them I do not.

    3. i do not like it when the doll has unrealistic parts. I like realistic dolls, so no boobs or eyes that are too big. No face that are too slim. I can tolerate skinny body though as long as the body proportion looks right.

    4. I think the biggest turn-off for me would be the blocky look that most double-jointed knees have. Elbows don't bother me so much, but I'd rather have single-jointed knees than knees that look like rectangles.

    5. My biggest one has to do with hands. I don't like chubby fingers on bigger dolls and I really don't like certain hand poses. If the hands look odd and unnatural to me, it's a huge turn-off.

    6. Heads that are too small. There's a fine line between realism and looking like someone stuck a RealPuki head on an SD body.

    7. What really turn me off is an overmuscled doll...i mean there are some muscle that shouldn't be there, and too hyperbolic for me. I like a balanced muscle men like the one in iple or soom, but there are some companies that I wouldn't buy because of this overmuscle issues...

    8. Dolls that don't have any character. Some dolls I see have such bland features that they could pass for boring old vinyl dolls.

I know the anamorphic dolls are really popular, and many of them are really cute. Nothing against people who love them, but some of the more extreme anamorphic dolls creep me out. They remind me of that old horror movie The Island of Dr. Moreau.

    9. To name a couple,
      1) I also think the huge squished, unrealistic 'glamour' bust is a big turn-off. I've never seen the opposite for a male doll, though.
      2) A doll with a face of a child, but again, with a 'glamour' bust. It's a bit weird for me.
      3) Those lips that look like they're stuck in a grimace.
      4) Extremely chiseled bodies, some muscles look too defined.

    10. This is going to sound a little weird, but I don't like dolls that don't have wrist balls. I guess I just really like the way that extra piece makes the arms look, I don't know. But there are some dolls that I like but wouldn't buy just because of that. >_<

    11. Baby heads on adult bodies gets me every time. They either look too small or just awkward. I also have a thing about mouths.

Sometimes if a doll has an awkward mouth like their lips form a duck squiggle it will ruin it for me.

The last thing is butts, I can't have a doll that has a butt that is too wide. I love mikailia but if there was a boy of her type I wouldn't know what to do. No pants ever.

My old iple jid girls threw me for a loop when I got them and had to put SD size shorts on them. Lol

    12. Poorly designed hands. I think they can look awkward some times x.x I like cute dainty hands

    13. Eyes that are far apart creep me out. T_T And they're popular right now, so I end up seeing them a lot. I also don't like gore. It's an acquired taste, that I haven't acquired. I just don't like booboos! Not on me or my dolls.

    14. I agree. I also am turned off by any body part that is out of proportion. I just saw a doll that had a head that was too small, hands that were too big, tiny waist and wide hips. It was almost creepy looking.

    15. I know it has been mentioned before, but baby heads on full figured adult female bodies freak me out. Especially when they put lingerie on them.

    16. I cant stand faceups that are splotchy and messy as hell.
(also when people use nail polish in their faceups)

    17. When the necks are too long. There are several dolls that have beautiful faces, beautiful bodies, but the elongated necks JUST turn me so far off that I'm going the opposite direction. I also prefer that they be proportional.

    18. For me, dolls that have shiny bodies = insta-nope
Also, hands that are either too cartoony or unrealistic because of their size or design.

    19. Blank emotionless expressions, or emotions that are TOO in your face; like one eye closed, EEENormous grins (cept on cheshire cats...then its ok) and POOFy lips, you know those big baby like lips on any doll larger/"older" than yoSD just..looks like stung by bees.

    20. The lips! I'm really picky about the lips.
Too big, too small. They need to be perfect >.<
