That one turn-off

Aug 2, 2012

    1. I don't like super big boobs that defy gravity. Also not a huge fan of white skin on dolls.

    2. I have three deal-breakers when shopping for dolls:
*Over-sized hands or feet, proportion is a must (except for heads, over-sized heads work for me)
*Sad/on the verge of tears expressions, especially on childlike sculpts (just makes ME want to cry that they're so sad)
      *Pneumatic boobs w/insta-cleavage

    3. I really don't like dolls with pointy noses, I guess that why I don't really like LUTS... I'm also not fond of anime styled dolls, for myself anyways.

    4. There should be a poll set up for this one! In your face busts seem to be winning. :)

I have a few things that are deal breakers for me:

Ugly hands. I dislike fingers that are thicker at the tips than at their base. And hands with no expression are definite deal breakers.
Add me to the no go big breasts list!
I really dislike heavily muscled bodies with a childlike head. Way too unnatural and creepy to me.
Eyes that are too big giving the doll a cute look - except for DollPamm dolls!
Noses that are pointy and have no character.
I dislike dolls that leave me feeling neutral. I definitely prefer sculpts and styling with attitude and ones that emit some sort of emotion.

    5. I'm very picky when it comes to knees and elbows. I can't stand when the joints look super square and unnatural.

    6. In my case I think it's 3 things:
-Boobs that look like someone inflated them, big is fine, perky is fine, but if they're practically exploding from all the air that's apparently inside them, then that's just no.
-Open mouthed dolls with teeth, especially when they're smiling really wide. I don't know why, it just looks fake and creepy to me. I have a few exceptions to this one though.
-Noses. I'm just oddly picky with the shape of noses on dolls for some reason. Often I considered getting a specific doll only to look at the nose from another angle and scratch it off the list immediately.

    7. Turn off for me would be the body not sculpted beautifully. I really like beautiful sculpted bodies with great mobility. As an example, Xagadoll 65cm female body and Souldoll 63cm Zenith girl body(double), I love how that body looks. Male bodies too, I don't like those bodies that look flimsy(poorly done), almost disproportionate(shoulders shaped weirdly). I need the body to be double-jointed as well, ALWAYS. Single jointed bodies are a huge turn off for me. I feel like they don't have as much mobility as a double would.

Another turn off is dolls with weird shaped chins, eyes, and noses. I see some dolls with long and crooked chins, I feel like they would be a nice doll if the chin wasn't that crooked(This is only my opinion). Also, I don't like noses that are too big or have a wide nose bridge. To me if the nostrils are wide and the bridge is also wide(especially if it's a tall nose), it looks like a log sitting on the face. Eyes, I don't like eyes that are too big, it just looks really weird to me. I like that mysterious looking eyes or sort of little almond shaped(like me).

Third turn off is messy wigs. I really do not like messy wigs. I do not like fur wigs at all, they look messy to me, no matter how much they're styled(no offense to anyone who likes fur wigs, you do you). But, it's not just fur wigs, some fiber wigs can look messy too. I think it depends on the quality of the wig and how its sitting on the dolls' head.

The fourth turn off I can think of is flimsy and translucent looking resin. I'm sorry, but I do not like resin that looks too shiny and cheap(Only my opinion, not trying to offend anyone.)

    8. i dont like small bust bjd there are so lovely but why the boobs must be small i really love big boobs so i could dress my girls lovely stuff to show it .. sounds like a pervert hehehe but i really love it and i turn off cause i see she got a small bust not even a meduim here me like why is that T.T!!

    9. I personally am not a fan of the inflated airbag looking glamour Boobs. For me a medium sized chest is fine, and i also don't like the fangs on some dolls. My final turn off now is grey/blue toned resins. I used to love a grey resin doll i had, until my hubby pointed out that she looked like a corpse with consumption. I couldn't get that image out of my head and had to sell her on :(

    10. I love the aestetics of doll bodies, I think they're so beautiful when they're a little 'simpler', so for me it's a turn off when there are too many joints on the torso. I'm not sure about thigh joints... they're a little weird. I understand it's a question of mobility, but....no.
I'm also not a huge fan of boys that are very feminine. Like when I can't really tell from the face wether it's a male or female doll...

These are only things that I think about when I look to buy a doll. I've seen plenty of boy dolls that have feminine faces that are just gorgeous, and I appreciate very much the great poseability that more joints give, but I wouldn't personally buy these dolls.

    11. I think it's the "w" shape upper lip. A lot of dolls I would find gorgeous if they didn't have that. Also, I'm picky about hands, but I can't describe exactly what it is that I would dislike.

    12. It isn't exactly a turn-off in the sense I don't think it detracts from the sculpt, but it does impact whether I'll put the doll on my wish list and save for it. I don't like parted mouth on dolls. Dollmore's Elysia is gorgeous and I do think part of her charm lies in her open mouth, but I'll never get her. I guess this is an extension of not wanting any doll without a neutral (or slight) expression. Must be so tiring for the doll to keep his or her mouth slightly open, an angry face or a sad expression on all the time! Silly I know.

    13. I agree with you Cheesedemon88 unrealistic boobs are tough to swallow, and it makes it super hard if you are creating clothing for the doll. Another one in particular that bugs me is hands/feet. I don't like when the hands are stuck in a weird position like they are constantly trying to claw at something, or if the feet require you to always fiddle around with how they should pose. I am also very fond of realistic looking faces, and not so much of the giant eyes and more "anime" styling.

    14. I am hoping this won't happen every time I order a doll, but my two dolls that I have ordered, the email notifications always get my hopes up.

I received an email for my first doll stating that my doll had been shipped, but when I got home, she was on my porch just sitting there in her cute brown box. I was taken by surprise with that one.
My recent doll was the complete opposite. I received an email from IH saying that my doll was delivering the next day and waited all day only to find out she was still in Korea. It's kinda funny, actually xD.
The good thing is she will be here tomorrow afternoon. I am super super excited!

But yeah, I think that one turn off is that they switch "delivered" with "shipping" and vice versa xD. I'll get used to it, though!

    15. Some things I have since found to be a turn-off for me in general are:
How the damned ankles are way too thick! UGH! I understand why it's that way but it doesn't look nice when they're showing.

And the length of their legs! It might be easier to tolerate with females (cause long legs are something positive) but the males.............. I love my dolls to bits but some of them have so insanely long legs it really irks me >_<

Some six-packs also look just unappealing - especially on smaller bodies - nothing against wanting a muscular guy doll in smaller size, but within my collection, if the shorter guys have more muscles than the large ones it's really odd. So I like many bodies but if they have too much muscle showing while I need them for a young character, that's a no-go.

    16. Weirdly sculpted faces. I understand the some pople likes that kinda of face on a doll, but it's not my cup of tea.

    17. Just my preference speaking, but I can't stand the look of Kaye Wiggs dolls. Big ears, big noses, and cheeks that are far too puffy for me. They make me think of Troll dolls whenever I see them.

    18. I definitely like the more natural/realistic look.. HUGE eyes and HUGE boobs definitely put me off haha. And dolls with really angry/really happy/extreme expressions.. :o I know it sounds weird, but they don't give you a variety of expressions to work with. For dolls with neutral expressions, you can kinda make them look sad/annoyed/happy just with a bit of photography magic. Dolls with already extreme expressions I feel are just.. Stuck like that :p Which is fine if that is how you want your character to look! I just feel I couldn't work with them as well *_*

    19. I prefer dolls with a bit more detail on the body. If the knees are totally smooth it's a bummer for me. Duck lip expression is also a bit of a bummer? But it could depend on the sculpt.

    20. I'm with everyone else and don't like huge breasts or a child's face on a very mature body (Boy or girl). I also dislike square joints, I'd rather sacrifice some mobility for nice looking joints.
