That one turn-off

Aug 2, 2012

    1. I'm very particular about noses and to a slightly lesser extent, mouths.

A nose that bothers me will turn me off a sculpt I otherwise love. And tiny noses, or super thin noses, that are out of scale with the rest of the face are an automatic: no thanks, not for me.

    2. I think overly childish msd bodies are normally a turn off for me, unless I want them to be younger. most of my msd's are in their late teens early 20's.

    3. My biggest turn off would have to be single jointed arms. The legs can be single jointed and it won't bother me, but I need the arms to be double jointed.

    4. I have recently found out that too long arms and gigantic hands are a no no for me. That and thing lips.

    5. Dolls that look like they were intended to be sexual. I feel like the Lusis with the "o" face looks like she's about to pleasure someone.

Huge breasts. Very few people can even get implants that make their boobs as big as Loongsoul's dolls. And don't get me started on DDDys.

Overly realistic dolls. I don't want veins and defined muscles. I have one of my Leeke girls on an Impldoll body and I hate it because her collar bone and neck tendons are so out there. I want large eyes and dainty noses and mouths and idealized, slender bodies.

Necks that are too thick, usually with a head that's too small. That looks so bad!

Hybrids that have really bad resin and proportion matches. I saw a hybrid of a Lieselotte on a Loongsoul body on Pinterest and it was just wrong. I hate when the resin colors just really don't match.

Those Leeke sculpts with the big heads and the teeny tiny eyes! Ugh, they're so weird and creepy. I like stylized, but that's taking it too far.

I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I post this lol.

    6. I like a big variety of dolls but maybe not enough to buy them for myself. But maybe the biggest turnoff is hip-shoulder ratio, really stylized appearance that artist dolls seem to have. But then again I like Kinoko Juice Kiki's and they're kinda weird allright. I guess there's a fine line that I don't know yet.

    7. I can't stand faces that lack detail, whenever I see an extremely stylized doll I cringe.

    8. Super muscular bodies. I prefer muscular over chibi/child-like, but the super defined washboard abs just doesn't look good to me. Unfortunately, there's not much in between with most companies.

    9. White skinned dolls and, like someone's said before me, too big boobs. I've never seen a girl doll I like though so maybe that's a turn off for me in general now?

    10. Breast shape. It's most common with larger breasts, but when the boob is too perky/round and looks like it's defying gravity it really bothers me. It's not so bad when the doll is clothed, I can pretend she has a really good bra, but if she's wearing loose clothes or is naked then her boobs look, well, sculpted.

    11. Well, I really don't like male 1/4 dolls with really little boy looking bodies. For me personally, I don't think of my 1/4 scale dolls as being children so that's not the look I'm going for.. I totally agree with the balloon boobs as well! Just not my thing. And I probably couldn't get a doll with a smiling face sculpt. Seems kinda limited to me in photographs.

    12. I would have to say abnormally large and misshapen bug eyes. They just have an uncomfortable feel to them...well that and dolls with intense emotions (big smile, exaggerated frown etc)

    13. Really really really REALLY HATE art dolls. (Sorry Chateau and the like) I can't do it. I just can't. I am a sucker for good anatomy and when I see dolls that don't follow it I cringe a bit. I know thats the point of 'art' dolls. But I am not a fan. But seeing as I really like spiders, I do plan on getting the spider body and giving her a different head.

I also don't like faces having big smiles, or any dolls that have a sculpt showing to much emotion or action. Light smiles are okay and the such but ugh. No.

    14. I see a lot of people mentioning that they don't dolls with teeth, which I totally understand. I actually have a thing for dolls with "derpy" expressions, and teeth really add to that, so I usually am quite fond of them. :XD:

My one major pet peeve is when a doll looks sad. I don't mind neutral expressions, but I really don't like frowning dolls. And this may be kind of picky, but I really don't like dolls with super pointy nipples. They seem like a bit of a safety hazard.

    15. Bad proportion in anatomy. I'm really big on anatomy because I see so manly badly proportioned dolls. Of course, exaggeration of proportion doesn't equate to bad proportion. A lot of art dolls (like Lillycat and Doll Chateau) have exaggerated proportions as compared to human anatomy, but they're very much proportionate design wise. In fact, their biggest strength is their skillful manipulation of proportion.

Bad proportion is how I feel about a lot of slim dolls. I don't like the super slim bodies with the bobble-heads. Disproportionately big boobs also fall into this category. I tend to lean towards either art dolls or realistic dolls because their anatomy is usually spot on. Honestly, even some DD sculpts have better proportion than some of the slim dolls I've seen...

    16. Eyes that are half closed. I see this on the larger male dolls a lot. Is it supposed to be a sexy mysterious thing?
Or faceups with red around the eye that makes it look like the doll has a cold or was crying.

    17. Huge bust. I hate when a doll I love the sculpt of has a huge bust. I really wanted a volks dollfie dream candy but man the bust is large and I don't want to spend another $30ish on a smaller chest piece. I just don't find it attractive I guess. Is that werid?

    18. I'm with a lot of people on the huge breasts thing. I don't want my doll looking like she's had plastic surgery. Also, sad expressions.

    19. Unless I plan on dyeing and blushing it, I don't care for white dolls. I don't even bother looking at dolls with overtly huge breasts. They look like hard balloons, their impossible to buy shirts for, and way too often their nipples show through the shirt. While I don't hate dolls with unique proportions, I won't buy them, because it will be too difficult to find good clothes of them. Oh, and I flat out refuse to look at dolls without a torso joint.

    20. I don't really like the super anime eyes, it looks too strange in 3d. Also I don't like the over sized breasts or crazy abs. I also like my dolls to have some sort of emotion showing, otherwise I find it sorta boring.
