That one turn-off

Aug 2, 2012

    1. - Straight legs. I really like the Ringdoll RTG60-2, but those legs are so straight, it ruins everything :(
      - False placed boobies. I dont care what size they have, they just need to be placed right. As example Xagadoll 59 girl body, its like theyre placed right under the neck. :eusa_pray
      - Faceplates with shaped forehead. I mean the fact that you cant choose what kind of expression you want. Iplehouse women have all this forehead, where the eyebrows are given. Thats why I dont like IH:sigh and those guys with that huge jaw line..
I really dont mean to offend anyone, its just my taste...

    2. Super voluptuous or duck lips just don't do it for me.

    3. I actually like lady dolls with voluptuous breasts, but I can agree with others here that large breasts paired with very childish head sculpts and large breasts that are improperly placed/have nipples that are improperly placed are a big turn-off.

I'm also not a fan of double-joints that look like sports padding (ex. Dollmore's jointing). It looks so unnatural and awkward and in my opinion it breaks up the aesthetics.

But my biggest pet peeve when it comes to mature-styled BJDs is what I like to call underwear jointing--the jointing on the torso where underwear would go on a real person. I've hardly ever seen any that added any worthwhile articulation options and it always reminds me of the annoying sculpted panties on Barbie dolls. Just like the sports padding joints it just seems to break up a good aesthetic. Unfortunately for me I'm planning on getting a doll in the distant future that has such jointing (there's a body option that doesn't have it but I find that option too pear-shaped for the character I want to shell), so I'll have to put up with it for them.

    4. I don't like the way the knees on some dolls 'split open' in some poses, I know it's unavoidable for maximum poseability but certain companies do seem to make it look better than others. Something about seeing gaping holes in knees just makes me flinch a lot - I don't really get their way about other parts of doll bodies though.

Also seconding super dramatic duck lips. I don't like mouths that are too open or what has been referred to as 'sex doll mouth'.

I'm not personally a fan of visible veins, and to that end nothing really hyper-realistic. Faceup artists who can do incredibly realistic pores, chapped lips etc are impressive no doubt but it does creep me out a little. My 'ideal doll aesthetic' is a bitmore outside reality and fantasy-like, so the ones that look too human are an uncanny valley a little steep for me.

    5. I have a few:-
Pouty facial expressions (the famous trout pout) and oversized lips,
A perpetual frowning mouth, where the corners of the mouth droop downwards making the doll look a permanent sourpuss,
Hands that are too big on a female doll - they just don't look feminine enough for me,
Eyes too wide apart (again the fishy look),
      Torso's with ribs showing,
Beady eyes that are very small,
Ugly seam lines (though you wouldn't probably know about this till after you received the doll)

    6. I don't like that all of the mature looking dolls automatically have giant breasts. I'd like to see some ladies with smaller chests.

    7. There are lots of things I don't like on dolls either, and most of them have already been mentioned. Teeth, huge boobs (most don't look natural), I'm not into the young looking dolls... So much more. But I think that's okay too be that picky when you're shelling out so much money on something. There is a lot to choose from, you should be able to find the perfect doll for you. :)

    8. I'd say my only big turn off are overly huge eyes and balloon boobs (definitely can't stand them !). I like a lot of different faces, so I don't have huge turn-off.

    9. Bloody or scarred face ups

    10. I have two:

Strangely sculpted features on a face (Doll Chateau dolls are a great example) really bother me. I've had to really sit & ponder as to why it bothers me as much as it does, yet dolls with HUGE eyes & tiny mouths/noses do not. I think it's because I have been exposed to anime for so long that I have accepted this as a 'normal' thing, while the abstract faces of DC's dolls are very, very new & foreign to me.

Dolls with strange hip-to-chest ratios really bother me. I don't like something SUPER petite on the top & huge on the bottom... the proportions just throw me off.

    11. Dolls with unnatural breasts, like when it's gigantic (Loongsoul MSD large size is just...) and when it's placed too high or low. I'm also not a fan of dolls with large calves, especially when it looks or is about the same as their thighs. The only exception is when the doll is stick-like(?), what I mean is when it's without much curves. These aren't really my cup of tea either ^^" but they're acceptable when dressed. Certain dolls that are smiling with teeth showing really creeps me out, but if the smile and teeth is subtle then it's fine for me, but i really like Fairyland's Pong Pongs. Other features are: large nose, extremely pouty lips or duck face type of lips, and super thin/flat noses w/ large eyes. I hope I didn't offend anyone, these are just my tastes.

    12. I'm not super into huge busts either! As for other turn offs... I think even if a doll's super pretty & looks perfect, if I read any reviews on how difficult it is to pose or to hold poses, I get turned off right away. Also, difficulty getting it dressed (i.e. having to remove hands & feet to get clothing to fit).

    13. My single biggest turn-off is a messy wig , definitely a messy wig. I've seen so many messy fur wigs that it's made me think fur wigs have a tendency to (unintentionally) get that way in general - but of course I could be wrong. I'm just not a fan of them.

    14. I really don't like wide-set eyes on dolls, they just look so strange to me. I'm also not really a fan of dolls with very sharp, angular facial features, big, puckered lips (they look like they just took a huge bite out of a lemon), or boobs that look like they're being squished together and held up by an invisible push-up bra.

    15. So, for some weirder quirks of my doll-dislikes:

-i cannot even deal with squishy cheeks. I am not big on the baby faces you see on a lot of sd's. Like why? My youngest looking character is going for ~17 years old. They just look too young, and I'm not interested in child-like dolls.

-I'm just not into teeth. Something about them throws me off, and I legitimately don't get why, it's just a quirk of mine. I'm breaking this rule of mine at least once.

-in an earlier post, I said I wasn't big on the uberboob, and this isn't to rescind that, but I'm getting an art doll with the biggest boobs she can have. The big difference is that hers obey gravity and are lovely and suit her character. So big boobs are only an issue when not done as beautifully as Twigling sculpts them.

-the lack of female sd dolls with a booty. I opened this as a search thread in visual concepts. Boobs are easy to find, dolls with a nice butt are infinitely harder

-anime styling. I'm not really into anime (I watch RWBY and that's it.) so the very round faces, and the round eyes just don't do it for me.

    16. - One more for the boob brigade. I hate it when they are so huge and round that there's no space between them. It's made even worse when they're in the wrong place, so to speak. Some dolls look like two huge melons have been glued right under the doll's neck.
      - I also don't like super frowny or smiley dolls, though a hint either is fine. Same with teeth.
      - Super elongated necks freak me out.
      - Paper white resin. I actually love white resin, but only if it's a creamy or rosy white. Blinding, stark white is off-putting.

    17. Beady and wide set eyes with long noses. (Kind of like Na'vi from Avatar or the creature from Pan's Labyrinth.) *shudder* I just... can't.

Round faces on taller dolls. For some reason the more soft, effeminate, or round a face is on a taller doll, the less I seem to like it. Some of them look very good up close, but then when I see a "baby face" on a big muscular or voluptuous body, it just kind of throws my brain out of whack.

Also not a fan of super wide hips on boy dolls. I can understand some hip width, but some boy dolls out there have very feminine hips for being male.

Lastly (I know, I'm picky,) noses that are very pointy. I don't mind some petite, sharp, or angular noses, but the ones that jut out very far from a doll's face or even turn upward sort of bother me. Especially if they have pouty expressions.

    18. I also can't stand dolls with large breasts (especially when they are not proportional to the doll), or a child like face on a fairly mature body. I also do not like male dolls that have a LOT of muscles. I also do not enjoy dolls with facial hair, even if it is the most realistic looking thing.

    19. Noses that are way too curved like Lutz noses nothing against their dolls but I like my dolls semi-realistic
