1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

That one turn-off

Aug 2, 2012

    1. I get super picky about the color of tan on dolls, particularly if I'm going to get one. I have very specific tones in mind for the character and I need the tan to fit properly, too light or too dark I can't do. My own skin is a lighter tan and I find myself gravitating toward that color. Overly large breasts I don't like either, but that's been said multiple times. Large eyes are also an issue for me, especially on SD boys. Personally, I like when the look a bit older so the large eyes and chubby cheeks tend to turn me off of a sculpt.

    2. Overly detailed necks. It creeps me out so much. Can't deal with it.

    3. -poor proportions
-most vamp teeth, notably on the closed mouths
      -ugly joints
-hands that just don't look nice
-any expressions, really (it'd drive me crazy having a doll that was stuck in a moment of an expression forever. Don't mind seeing pics of them or anything though)

    4. My biggest turn off is how the joints look. If they're super sharp and don't have a natural "flow" to them, (if that makes sense) I am not a fan and will probably skip over them. I just do not like the way those sorts of joints look under clothes. I prefer a smooth line.

    5. Giant tits here. I think they make the doll look too uh.. "sex doll" like you know? and with the realistic genitalia bjds often have that and the big giant boobs is a little too much for me. I feel like they should be sticky to touch or something ewwww, it just grosses me out.

really erect nipples too. they ruin the line of a dress or blouse man. They stick out like bullets and it looks awful.

heads that look too small for the body. I've seen a few where the head just looks utterly disproportionate, like a tictac stuck on there and it puts me off. I don't mind the cartoonish oversized head, but a head too small makes a doll look wrong, almost... sick or deformed? I dunno, I don't like teeny little heads on big wide shouldered bodies.

I'm not overly fond of big exposed tooth smiles either, I find them creepy.

    6. Open mouth smiles. I cannot *stand* that. It's terrifying to me for some reason. The only ones with an open-mouth smile that I can tolerate is FL's Pukis. Impl's PoPo is the.worst.doll.

I also can't stand super droopy cheeks. Blegh!

    7. Size mostly. Anything bigger than YoSD crosses over into the uncanny valley.

And extra joints. Like...extra neck joints and wrist joints. I think this is just more Uncanny Valley though.

    8. -Certain types of lips, if they are too big! They look so weird and I can't stand it.
-Too much orange in face ups. Looks sickly to me.
-Slightly open mouths, and one more for teeth. I do love a Fairyland sculpt with an open mouth, but I probably won't get her because of her mouth...
      -One more for elongated necks.

    9. Ian afraid I have more than one turnoff xD
      • Ugly looking elbows and knees, usually my dolls have to have separate knee pieces and elbow pieces, unless the doll looks good without them like doll chateau
      • Child like faces on mature bodies
      • Too long torsos or generally weirdly proportioned torsos
      • Bad/poor posing
      • Weirdly sculpted breasts on girls
      • Ugly hands, unless I can replace them with hands from another company (my doll leaves msd boy is such a candidate, love him but will replace his hand)

    10. Personally I really dislike sculpts that have bodies that are look squished (It makes me not want to even make a hybrid), they just look to short for the head, It's so aesthetically displeasing to me.

    11. -Lips that are too big. I don't mind a pout, but when the lips take up like half of the face, no thanks.
-Oddly shaped eyes. The older Delfs and some Bobobie sculpts come to mind. Too wide and too close together doesn't help them, either.
-Too much emphasis on the lower eyelids in a face-up. Just makes them look really tired.
-I like some variation in terms of body options, particularly in terms of bust size. For the most part I prefer smaller busted dolls to larger. If say, an SD doesn't at least have a smaller bust part available, I'm less likely to consider it.

    12. Bulky muscles for guy dolls ahahaha. I have always been more attracted to the slim types.
Height,,,, I want a tall boy no matter how perfect the doll is I cannot buy if he will be smaller than my girl.

      • x 1
    13. Hip joints/underwear joints. I get the mobility and posing thing but it's just so aesthetically unappealing for me, I like to be able to appreciate my doll bodies with and without clothes

    14. Teeth! Agh, dolls with teeth are so creepy. Or those scrunched up, crying faces!
Anything YoSD creeps me out--actually, anything below 40cm is creepy now.
Extremely skinny bodies (basically most of DollChateau).

    15. mine are:
      - dolls that have no expression, even with a faceup they still end up looking "dead" for whatever reason.
      -ugly joints
-expressionless hands that look like noodles
-bullet nips on my resin girls, I don't really care that most DD's have them, but not for my resin ladies
      -childish heads on mature bodies
-poseablility, mostly sitting for me. If my doll can't sit nicely then I'm usually uninterested right away

    16. Super overly sexualized dolls.
Also dolls with anime eyes. Just why.

    17. Male dolls that look more like action figures then BJDs is my #1 no thank you.
Dolls that really aren't versatile and seem to only work as a frilly princess are another no thanks.

    18. I'm weird about hands and feet, a lot of dolls have hands/feet that look weird to me and I cant explain why

And like many others, Im not a big fan of dolls with teeth

    19. I guess I have a couple of things that turn me off.

White skin. Blah unless it's a vampire why in the hell do you want white skin? It's so lifeless and most people don't have that sort of skin in the first place and if they did that would be a sign that you're unhealthy! Don't get me wrong I'll enjoy other people having white skinned dollies but it's just not for me.

Vampire teeth on closed mouths. What's up with that? I can see a single tooth showing or a smirk but fangs on a closed mouth? What does it have buck teeth or is it trying to show off it's fangyness?

Childlike pouty faces. I dunno I just really don't like them and I wouldn't want a doll that would be stuck with that.

    20. The one thing I find is a turn-off is bloody noses on a bjd.
