Poor posing and unnatural looking breasts. I feel like a good majority of people on this thread feel that way. I wish doll makers would take note.
Super skinny bodies with no curves. I have a couple of dolls like this, but I went with the head sculpt and didn't even look at the bodies till they came in.
Super mature faces/bodies. I mean they look perfectly fine, but I don't really like the idea of owning any. When they look little and young they just seem like cute little characters, I can largely ignore that they are anatomically correct. I know that's why I a lot of people like them, but I personally prefer to ignore that side. That being said I can't handle that babyish look either. Again, fine, but not for my own dolls. So I guess anything that seems overly human? I like dolls that have a slight anime look without looking like anime, sort of like a lot of semi-realistic art. (Maybe I'm drawn to that because I paint in that style? xD)
Boob cleavage for sure. If the doll is gonna have a larger chest size please for the love of god find references boobs don't work that they without a bra. I also don't like muscular male dolls. They scare me for some reason (I dunno maybe because I'm a skinny guy). I love muscular girls though, I've only seen one and that was on tumblr no idea where the person got her from.
I think part of the reason for boobs being the way they are is because they assume the doll will be dressed, and theoretically wearing a bra, but being made of rigid resin a normal bra won't work so they just sculpt the breasts as if it did. Would be interesting to see some different options for dolls intended to be braless/nude from the start though.
I look at the face ups and a well proportioned body. I don't really like animal dolls, or animal sculpts. I do admit some of them are cool looking. I do have a soft spot for vampires. Love them!
Bobobie/Resinsoul Ming would be perfect for me (a male satyr in the same scale as my other boys? Yes please!) except for the fact that his horns are smooth. I don't like it for some reason. I wish he came with the same ram horns that his female cousin Yao comes with. Probably won't stop me from owning one (or both) in the future though.
I hate dolls with unrealistic body proportions. example is a doll with a really long neck or really long arms
I really dislike unrealistic eyes in otherwise realistic faces. Too big eyes, wonky eyes, anime-eyes... I also don't like thin, long noses. I think they look rather funny.
It's interesting seeing the things other people dislike! For me, there are a few: Extremely thin, frail bodies Giant, overly round breasts. I love big breasts! But, for example, the big minifee breasts look totally absurd. Tiny lips with otherwise semi-realistic faces. Tiny lips are for anime dolls, not realism. D: Interestingly, I love tiny breasts on large dolls, but I feel like if a company is going to offer small breasts, they should offer large breasts as well. There's room for both in my life!
-Dark resin tones that look unnatural/orange. -White skins that aren't stark white. -Single jointed arms. -Odd proportions. I'm referring to dolls that don't look right due to poor sculpting choices, not dolls that are meant to look unnatural such as Doll Chateau and the like. -Undetailed hands. -Badly done blood/gore themes. -Poorly sculpted expressions/open mouths. -Unsightly joints. -When the bottom and top lips look like they belong on two different mouths. In most cases the bottom lip is very plump,I've been seeing more of this lately. -Unnaturally straight legs.
I'll bite, I'm in a vaguely whiny mood, haha. Things that have stopped me from going "ooh, want"... - Undefined hands - Tube limbs (much less common lately!) - Childlike head proportions on "mature" minis - Childlike dolls with thin arms and breasts being sold as "mature" in general - Very boyish heads on grown man bodies - ^ especially in MSD size OTL - Noses that look nice from the side but too narrow from the front - Eyes that sprawl out too close to the outer edges of the face (I like wide-set eyes, as long as they aren't wide-set AND wide/large.) - Face too large on the head The primary one: - I love it, but it's too freakin' big
