1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The endless craving for a "new" BJD

Jun 23, 2015

    1. I lowkey always want a new doll. Even if I don't know which one or for what purpose, I need something new!

      I'm saving for the next doll on my wishlist and I keep thinking "what if I get a cheaper/smaller one in the meantime??".
      There's 3 dolls on my wishlist. It's all figured out and perfect! That would give me a total of 6 dolls wich is juuuust limit of being too much, and yet I keep looking at other dolls to get girlfriends or siblings for the others! :sweat

      I know I don't want or need more, but I constantly crave new things!

    2. @Charms Very helpful, thank you for sharing! For me right now, the ones I seem really drawn to the most by company has been Luts. Although I really like the look of the Iplehouse dolls too. Their dolls just have this really nice finish and look to them. Plus I am really into steampunk and Luts has a really cool steampunk outfit that I want so bad!

    3. @Sadielish You're welcome! Those are both really great companies, I can't wait to see what you decide on. :aheartbea

      I've gone a little off-topic for this thread, so if you want to ask anything else or just to chat, feel free to PM me!

    4. I just got my Obitsu girl today, and I'm already looking forward to going Christmas shopping so I can buy her some friends!

    5. I do know this feeling! I have so many ocs that I really, really want to turn into BJDs, but wallet-kun is sobbing :pout::XD:

    6. Exactly 4 weeks till December starts! :candycane:gingerbreadman I know a lot of people will get their doll shopping done on Black Friday/Cyber Monday this month, but I'm going to avoid the rush and hopefully still get my hands on another Obitsu for Siobhan to play with! :whee:

    7. Oh, man... THIS.

      I'm notorious for constantly shopping for the next doll. In fact, I was doing that about an hour ago... This addiction is killing me & you would think after 8 years of doing it, I'd grow tired. But, nope.

    8. I have had this feeling before and it would come and go so it was never constant. I am at the point where I have a good number of BJDs so I don't crave a new doll all that often any more and I'm pretty good at having restraint from randomly web browsing dolls in the marketplace. That's how one can get in trouble - web browsing can breed ideas!

    9. well I fought a brave fight after post 92 (page 5) :nosebleed

      but I was SO miserable :eek: depressed even! I put my existing dolls near to me and tried to be happy with 'just them' but I guess having something (or someone) new to meet, name and style is about as creative as I get these days! And creativity is like breathing - we need to do it or our soul withers away.

      So after almost a year of 'being good' and managing my very limited funds sensibly, I impulse-bought 2 in-stock dolls (one of them not ever on my wishlist!) from a dealer - because instant gratification matters when you've starved yourself of spontaneity and joy, and been a sensible grown-up for too long :chibi OK I give up - I'm an addict :blush

    10. Ever since ordering my first doll this past September I was so ready to get another. I even had some money put aside and like when first doll arrived I could afford another. Sadly some things came up that I needed that money for so now the wait is even longer.

    11. I'm always on the hunt for the next one!

    12. I know the feeling as I just bought a Ringdoll Merlin... something about him just screamed buy me... I will finally stop for awhile to concentrate on keeping them clothed & get the stories correct... so much to do for me so I have to force myself to stop until I can get everything under control on the boys I have....

    13. Uuuuugh this is so hard indeed! I just bought a doll that has been my lowkey grail since I started BJDs, and even while waiting for her I keep browsing stores and wondering... I'm just hurting myself for no reason because I have no money for more dolls!!

    14. I have a doll on the way and I'm already planning my next purchase,Though I'm not *completely* hopeless as I've yet to give in to impulse buys.

    15. @elve You said it perfectly! I've tried so hard to restrain myself and be sensible and deny my love of the hobby. I have even tried quitting many times. It's the excitement of a new character, finding the right look, and enjoying the hobby that keeps me wanting the next one. It's not the doll as much as the creativity of the whole process! If bjds weren't so customizable, I'd be safe, lol. Just look at my signature, I've decided to just enjoy and not worry what others think.

    17. yes this is why I'm hesitating over buying DC Christina, which I've wanted for ages, because I know she won't satisfy me but I'll have spent all my dolly money on her! Wariku is right - it's a disease :nosebleed

      I know I regret downsizing so ruthlessly in my 'moments of clarity' - from nearly 30 dolls to just 2 :doh and I sold them for so little now the exchange rate is terrible, I can't even afford to replace them :doh For the reasons stated, that I know even DC Christina won't satisfy me, I'm wondering if I should just stick to cheaper dolls, even if they're not on my wishlist - just so I can have the pleasure of meeting and styling them, without impoverishing myself in one fatal 'pay now' moment :shudder

    18. ...wow, I am seriously in the minority here. :lol: I never have the endless craving for a new doll. I just don't. My wishlist was static for years; it's always been a case of fitting together the pieces that are missing, not adding new pieces to the puzzle. There is only one more doll on my wishlist, and he's been there for years and years; once I have him, I'm pretty sure I can write 'complete' next to my collection. There's just not a lot that rings my bell anymore. (Okay, I will admit there's one ??? option that's just a doll I like a lot, but he hasn't hit the 'must own' status yet. Maybe he will eventually, idk.)

      Part of this is that I have a hard limit on the number of dolls I'll own. I will never go over ten. Never have, either. I own seven now, one on the wishlist, so that's two slots if anything comes up that I simply HAVE to have. Since I've been chugging along for years without doing that, though, I doubt it'll happen.

    19. I get that 'craving' right now since I have yet to complete my doll plans. ;;;;;
      But I do wonder, will I still crave for more dolls once I've completed that doll plans?
      I'm slightly inclined to a 'yes'. 8)));;;

    20. I"m still in the middle of putting together my first doll and I'm already looking for the second one! I can't stop searching. :sweat
