The most expensive doll/accessory you ever bought.

Feb 26, 2019

    1. I rarely spend over $25 on props, but I spent $200 on a 1/3 scale fully functional compound bow. I don't even know how to use a bow, but it fits Luc perfectly and it's really cool. :XD:

    2. My most expensive BJD, was my Resinsoul Summer. He was 150, a custom order with faceup. That's including shipping in there, which was 20. He's so darn cute though, he's worth it.

As for most expensive accessory... Hm... I think one of my girls' kimono, it was 25. It was totally worth it though. I don't usually buy clothes for them very often, since I like to make them clothes, but if I can't make a particular garment, I'd prefer to buy it because it'd just be easier in the long run. Same with doll shoes, I spent about 17 on my first MSD's sneakers and those suckers have held up amazingly well. (Currently my dollzone hybrid girl stole them)

    3. The most expensive doll I own is Ringdoll K full set at $829. He's the only 70cm doll I own, and my most favorite. I got lucky since I snagged the last one from Alice's Collections. I really need to get him more clothes. Everything for big dolls is so expensive!

    4. My most expensive doll is about 400$ and curiously he is wearing the most expensive accessory I have ever bought, an awesome 100$-worth custom-made wig I found in the second hand market but was made for that precise sculpt with the style and colour I needed (lucky me!).

    5. My nekkid NS soom Narmer cost about $800++ usd but there was a 2 week window to get him and omg my heart. I wanted him tawny but the extra $100 to make him so was just no. nononono. too much

For accessory I bought a denim jacket by Lanmeimeia on instagram for about $80 dollars T_T but dammit it's the best denim bjd jacket I have ever seen.

    6. My most expensive doll is my loongsoul Quing shu full set. I paid well over $800 for him and I still can't believe I spent that much. I don't regret it at all.
The most expensive accessory was the sd sized violin I bought from legend doll. Its the coolest prop I have and I display it even when my dolls aren't out

    7. My most expensive was FL Carol fullset since I bought her brand new. I believe $950. Not too much more than my other SD's though.

    8. The biggest purchase I've made at once was my DDS Sailor Moon for $650. I always said if Volks made a Sailor Moon doll, I'd be all-in. She's comparable to my other SDs, though I never bought any other doll outright.

    9. Melanie from Miracledoll, by far...that is why I am so eager for her to come! Other than that, the most expensive accessories I have are some furniture and a resin bunny from Boy & Girl. She was 40 bucks plus shipping and blushing but she makes Lavinia look so happy!

Soon I am planning on getting them a very nice sofa, one between 150 and 200, probably...I need to take it slow, though!

    10. Last year I fell in love with Dollzone's limited Black Tea that only comes as a full set, which was just over $900 with shipping. I'm so happy to have her and she was worth every penny, but it was a bit hard parting with that much money when I ordered her

    11. My Dollzone Trinity Kate. Her fullset was... pricey, but I loved it so much I had to buy it, especially given that I don't really care for most of Dollmore's Trinity fullsets.

    12. By the time CA sales tax and shipping were added on, my Claude was over 1700. X_x

Accessory-wise, just shy of 200 for a dress. Worth it.

    13. At over $850 my most expensive doll was a Customhouse Choa with a fave-up by Evenstar. Way back in the day she was one of best face-up artists & in my opinion her work is still among the best. I never wanted a Choa until I saw her & then it was love at first sight.Probably my most expensive accessory was a Doll Heart outfit around $100.

    14. OMG! Priest K fullset is so limited, I doubt anyone would be able to buy it secondhand! So sad, I know:crushedThough I had commissioned a priest robe for my K, I hope it turns out looking nearly as good as the original one.
But just think about that pained-on slicked-back hair of fullset K! And that sexy flower tattoo on his neck! I wanted them so much now TwT

    15. Thinking about it... my most expensive doll would be my RD Priest K (I named him Valentin), I got him on the Chinese secondhand online market Idle Fish, and he cost me roughly $330 USD, though he came with an amazing faceup and hands blushing from the previous owner!
Funnily enough, I bought the most expensive accessories for K as well... Secondhand RD Dracula outfit, $90, RD K style B vampire hunter outfit, $80, along with two other outfits that are like $80 each.
I guess I just liked K too much, since I'm planning to make him "cosplay" one of my favourite characters from my original novel. Oh, my dear Valentin, I am spoiling you!!!:XD:
(Talking about this just made me miss Valentin so much, since he's still in China and I can't see him until the Easter holidays... :()

P.s. I'm planning to get LLT Black Pearl, which would cost more that $1000. Someone needs to stop me....

    16. Add another Ringdoll to the list in Zombie Sol. He's one of the only full-sets that I've purchased, and the outfit isn't even all that impressive. (My Impldoll Akasha wanted a suitor) :XD:

The most I've spent on one piece of clothing, wig or accessory would probably be around 30$. I'm a cheapskate when it comes to those.

    17. The "most expensive doll" title is a toss-up over here, between two of my larger Volks sculpts... My SD16 Ami Ayase and SD17 Hijikata were both pretty ridiculous, since they're fairly popular Limiteds that I had to buy on the secondary market. (My lottery luck is notoriously bad, so I had never had a prayer of getting them directly from the company-) My SDGr Okita and Romantic Okita twins were also on the ludicrous side, for exactly the same reason... But Kenji and Tian weren't *quite* as high up the "Holy hell, I just spent HOW MUCH?!"-scale as Ma'at and Kallenan. I'll probably never spend as much on a doll again as I did on them, but I seriously wanted them enough to justify the expense.

As for accessories... would "another doll" count? I bought Cardinal (my normal resin EID Tedros) for Kestrel (my EID Bibiane). I also got Madison in all three of her favorite forms (an IpleHouse SID Cherie, an EveStudio tarantula and a Cuarto Hecate wolf-) for Shonokin (my SD17 Kiriko).

If companion dolls don't count, the winner would have to be Tien Jen's working miniature guzheng. It can be tuned and played just like my own full-sized one. It cost more than some of my smaller dolls have, but I have no regrets. It's just a ridiculously cool piece to play around with, regardless of it working so well as a prop for the minions.

    18. My most expensive doll is my Luts French knight. However I feel I can justify it slightly as one of my favourite OC is a Knight ,and ever since I started the BJD hobby, i've always wanted to shell that character. While the armour design is a little bit different to my character's, it's close enough that it can work, so having the full plate style armour with the doll is fantastic. Also I can use the body with a different head and outfit to create second character I have in mind to shell so get two characters I can switch between when I feel like it. I don't think I would have spent that much on a doll if it didn't have those benefits.

Outside of the optional bits for the Luts French Knight, I think the most expensive accessory was the Hello J 1/3 sofa (though the shipping on top is what pushed the cost up to make it the most expensive). I've found that having nice seating makes managing my SD sized dolls a lot easier so seemed a good investment. It's also a really well made and nice looking piece of furniture (though unfortunately mine got damaged in the post) so don't regret buying it. :XD:

    19. I spent around $800 on my Souldoll boy but ended up spending over $1000 in total to get all the stuff I needed for him. Most expensive item I think was my Dollfie Dreams silicone bust. I spent almost $400 on that. I've also recently spent over $600 going on $700 on just a YoSD... I don't even know where the money is coming from, but at least I'm not in debt or struggling :sweat.

    20. My most expensive BJD is Volks SD17 Reisner. I bought him new from Volks in a doll’s convention in Florida in 2013. He cost $2400 before tax. Then, I had to ship his box from Florida to Pennsylvania where I lived at that time because his box was too big to be hand carried on a plane. I hand carried the doll back on the flight from Florida to Pennsylvania. So, I only shipped the empty box on UPS, hence, although I bought him new in an event, I still incurred shipping cost and tax. I also had to take a plane to Florida, pay for the convention, hotel and food. I spent around $3200 in total. However, I totally enjoyed the trip and event. Met a lot of doll collectors. I met Volks staff for the first time. I will always remember when they handed Reisner to me directly by hand. Somehow, that was special.
