the NICEST things people do or say

Sep 2, 2009

    1. I purchased a second hand head from a seller on facebook that was going to be shipped out last week. Things got busy for her, though, and she couldn't make it to the post office... so to make it up to me (even though I told her it's fine!) she said she'll include a wig and some eyes for him too. So nice! ;^;

    2. My boss and coworkers at work always has the nicest stuff to say about the clothes I make for my dolls. A lot of my job is sitting and watching so when it's really slow I sew. It's really lovely to hear nice things.

    3. My family is supportive of my hobby, and I am very thankful for it.c: My mom knows about my girl's relationship with a good friend's doll. And sometimes she sees me about to leave the house with my doll bag and she goes.. "Oh, are they seeing each other again today?;)" lol it makes me laugh and makes me really happy.^^ I also find it really nice when people comment(positive things) on the pictures I post. I really appreciate the comments and try to reply to all of them to show my appreciation.c:

    4. I love receiving compliments on my dolls ;~; I rarely bring them out in public nowadays, I'm just too busy and all, but when I do, I feel so happy when someone approaches me with positive questions/comments! It truly makes my day, and I know my dolls appreciate it too, haha.

As far as the *nicest* thing, probably just receiving clothes/accessories for my dolls from my mom and boyfriend :) There have been a few times when I've specifically asked for things for my birthday/christmas/whatever holiday, but my mom has also bought random things for Phinny and surprised me! I love that, and I really appreciate it, it shows she's thinking about my dolls and I~

    5. I went to my first ever doll meet recently, and the nicest thing was how nice everyone was about my doll and all the compliments she gets.

My mother has also made my dolls knitted hats before >w< which was just so cute!

    6. My sister knits sweaters for my dolls and ordered my Etienne a wooden violin for Christmas from Necessary Extras.

My room mate Carrie, who has never cared for dolls is a silver smith. She makes my dolls real jewelry,(as in gold and sapphires... ) she often brings me home odds and ends like chairs or once a porch swing the right size for them. When she first saw my new Mysterious Cheshire Cat from Pipos, she gave it what I consider to be the ultimate accolade... a three second sustained, " OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!"

The single funniest remark I have ever heard about BJDs was from my younger brother, on showing him my Iplehouse Carina, he said," She is HOT! Do you think she would date me?"

    7. My photography classmate's thought it was cool how realistic my dolls looked, and asked me to bring them to class as 'models'. Best.Day.Ever.:)

    8. I think the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my dolls were that
The doll(s) were EXACTLY how they pictured my OC in their head!! it almost made me cry!!

    9. My dad is generally super nice and supportive about the hobby and he listens to me talk about it... Even when I told him the price of my sia who I bought recently and why I was stressing out because I was concerned about spending that much money even though it was money I'd had saved up and wasn't really using for anything, he was shocked at the price and said he advised against it but ultimately said it was up to me since it was my money I had saved...

Also when I brought my dolls out of their boxes for the first time in forever (accidental disney lyrics whoops) and started keeping them out and about, he saw them and grinned and was all "long time no see!"... Other than the part where I dropped all my money on a new doll, he's really really approving of my getting back into the hobby and not just letting my dolls sit in their boxes.

Also not really a... "people" story... but one time I turned around and caught my cat in the act of curiously approaching a wig I had lying on the bed, and I didn't tell him off or anything yet, just watched to see what he would do... but when he noticed me looking at him he stopped in his tracks and sorta backed off while keeping eye contact... He's usually not very obedient and will keep messing with something even when I start scolding him, but he knows that certain things will get him in more trouble than others, so it was really cute because it was like he knew the doll stuff was especially important. There was also one time where I had my AoD boy lying on the bed while sewing something for him, and my cat walked right up to him rather quickly and I thought he was about to do something bad so I reached for the doll, but he flopped down right next to him and lied there for a while and it was adorable.

    10. The nicest thing was my mom getting just as excited as me over the new doll I have coming soon. Even though my mom and I aren't always on good terms, it was really nice to have someone else share my enthusiasm with. Also, she helped significantly in the payment and she and I chose him together to an extent. It was a sort of bonding experience and it makes me glad that someone else in the house will love him too and not just me.

    11. I had my first two dolls at Ohayocon, Andrew my Ringdoll Andrew and Linn my Impldoll Iris and my husband was wanting something from the comic shop located in the hotel. I was heading down so I thought I'd go ahead and grab it for him. Since it was con I carried my two little resin lovelies down with me. The owners wife was very interested in them and was totally sweet, even wanted pics!

    12. I haven't had a lot of experience, but I think the nicest thing (so far) was having a lot of people in my local group bring Minifees to our meet on my request for me to look at, before I decided to buy one, and they they let me change their clothes and pose them a lot to get used to their bodies, which I think was sweet. I also got compliments on a woven bracelet I made for my boy, and someone even said "you should make more and sell them", which was pretty cool, hehe

    13. My partner, whom I'll call Mr. VF, looks a bit like a bouncer or a "tough guy" -- tall, bald/shaved head, muscular, doesn't put up with BS. He has always been very accepting of my Pullips, but I was so scared to have him see my SD boy because SDs are just so much bigger, heavier, more detailed -- so much more doll. Anyway, the first time he saw Renier, my SD boy, Mr. VF was like, "I see someone new over there. What's his name? I can't meet someone new without knowing his name!" So I hesitantly brought Renier into my lap and said, "This is Renier. He is not a Pullip... obviously." And then Mr. VF shook Renier's little hand (!) and said, "He's a snappy dresser. I want shoes like that." It was SO SWEET. :aheartbea

    14. I suppose some of the nicest things on my end, that even though people think it was foolish to get a doll for the same amount i could have gotten a car, they think she's pretty and they know i like it.
My mom supports me even though it's expensive cause she knows how much i love anything creative. If we go places she'll point something out and say "this could work for you doll" (even though it usually wont XD she's still learning the idea of it) and when we go to town she's always telling people i make things and tells them about my doll. I get a little nervous about that but i don't know them so why let it bother me.

Also my o/h adores her, he thinks they're really cool and listens to me talk about them and tries to help with ideas for a character. He keeps asking if i'm going to give my girl a bf to represent him, and he says he wants one. Its sweet :]

It's just nice knowing that my friends and family support me even though they don't understand it and think it's ridiculous that they're so expensive XD

    15. My best thing that happened with my dolls was today actually. I was at the craft store today with my Mom shopping for tiny needles and fine yarn to knit a YoSD sweater for one of my little ones. I was looking at some pretty gray colored yarn when my Mom comes up and says "That is an adult color, he needs a cute pastely kid color." Normally she thinks I should spend my money on more "important" things but every once in a while she surprises me with cute things like this about my Resin Folk.

    16. My mom became extremely excited about my doll. She makes her outfits and loves to photograph her. She refers to her by name. My dad is constantly interested to see the pictures and always says how crazy it is how real yet unreal she looks. My brother thinks she is wikid and my boyfriend thinks she is adorable and loves seeing pictures. I'm very grateful to be surrounded by supportive people. I can't really choose which is the nicest thing because it has been an all around awesome experience so far. Even at first the price shocked them. Now that I have my second doll on layaway, no one even blinked when I said how much lol.

    18. Well, a cool thing happened to me the other day. I went to a meet-up in DC while two festivals were going on. My friends and I went into the garden behind the Freer gallery, and decided to set all of our dolls up on a bench in the garden. As soon as we got them all set up, we got MOBBED. A bunch of people surrounded the bench and started taking pictures and there were so many people, I couldn't get to my dolls. I didn't hear any nasty comments, so I'm counting this one as a good reaction.

    19. My mom insisted on setting up my bench when I was nervous about something and she said: "Now you can seat someone in it or leave it empty and imagine your new doll sitting there." And now I'm really excited to have my new girl home, I can't wait to be able to set her up with her sister...And my mom also bought me a LOT of new fabric today so I have new stuff to make things for my girls...And let me buy a lot of MSD elastic.

    20. The nicest things non doll owners/lovers have said to me have been a general "you're so talented", "that's amazing", "you really made that? You're so good" type things. My favorites are when people say how realistic they look, or when they call Ryan (my dlove kaja) adorable/cute. And also when they buy props for me haha :)
