1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

the NICEST things people do or say

Sep 2, 2009

    1. My mum doesn't hate my bjds but she's never very keen on things I like, but she made my first bjd a shirt out of one her old thirsts which was really sweet

My nan let me use her bank account to buy my first bjd, as I didn't have one, and I gave her the money. She gave me this money back recently and said she had just saved the money for me, so she had bought me my first bjd!
She also gave him a Christmas present that year!

    2. My girlfriend has done so many nice things for me! ;w; I haven't even gotten my first bjd yet, but she's made me two headbands from scratch and has bought me a whole wig, and eyes. She's such a sweetheart!

    3. My mom is actually getting my next doll's wig for me! 8D I had to get the money myself before but now my Kazumi will have a beautiful wig. >w< (XD; This doll ain't my RS Qing though..Which reminds me need to change my siggy.)

    4. My mom thought the doll hobby was very strange at first, then I took her to Ldoll in Lyon. She said she was mainly interested in the city, but ended up spending the most time at the convention and bought a doll of her own! Then she told me she wanted me to customize the doll and make clothes for her. I thought that was very sweet and such a 180 from her first opinions of the dolls :D That is almost two years ago now, and she still has the doll and really likes her, buys shoes and wigs for her and makes me make clothes for her xD

    5. Another bjd owner flat out offered to purchase my doll after seeing her over webcam. I was so incredibly flattered that she liked my doll so much she wanted to add her to her own collection!! :)

    6. My aunt fell in love with my SSDF guy xDDD anything smaller she was just "meh" about, but she loved C enough to contemplate buying one of her own! I felt really flattered that she liked my doll enough to say that! >v<

    7. My best friend always gets my bjds presents when they arrive, and for their birthdays! She is going to be my only other human guest at my first bjds birthday this coming week. :)

    8. The boyfriend upon spotting my little Bajoran in pieces on the shelf: "Oh no! Beheaded, scalped and stripped!"
... Her head was off because I'd taken a comparison pic with another head on her body. I left it off because I was going to try and get started on her uniform shirt today. Didn't work too well :|

    9. "omg he is so handsome, wish i was a couple years younger and he was real <3"

lol one of my best friends, about Dorian, my soom hyperon

    10. I recently took Amadeus, my Bobobie Apollo, to one of my college art classes with me, just for fun. I got the typical, "He's so creepy!" reactions and such, but nothing truly negative, just non-BJD people being non-BJD people ;p Quite a few people were genuinely interested in him though, and wanted to see him up close and such--it was really cool being the center of attention for something other than my odd fashion sense XD

The best part was that my instructor was completely fascinated with him, and thought it was awesome that I did his facial piercings myself. I wound up showing her pictures of all my other boys, and she was so interested in them that I'm bringing Caelum, my DollLove Brian, to my next class for her to see :D

    11. Just yesterday I got a compliment on my boy's eyes - it makes me feel great that someone notices the details and the effort I put into him. Especially just starting out, I feel like I am doing something right.

    12. Well, my art teacher complimented on my Dollfie Dream's faceup (I am noobish on that thing), and really loved the FCS faceup on my SDGr boy. It was warming because I got comments from someone who is experienced in art.

My mother would attempt to make clothes, but haven't tried, but still nice.

    13. My own family is very close with the family my sister has married into, and my brother in law's mother was a wonderful cheerful lady who always asked me about my dolls and always wanted me to show her my latest work on them.

She passed away this year after a long battle with cancer, and though i miss her terribly I will always remember how much it meant that someone really thought my work was beautiful and loved my dollies even though she wasn't a 'doll person'.

    14. That's really sweet. <3 I'm sorry she's gone, but it sounds like she had a really positive impact on your life. :)

      ---

      Most people in my life are supportive or at least grudgingly accept it, but my boyfriend's mother is one of the nicest. She always asks what I'm doing or making and is always really excited. She also has this tendency of talking about my dolls to anyone who will listen. XD It's very confusing when people I've never met before ask me about them. ^^;

    15. I've answered this before, but I had an amusing encounter over the weekend.

I took Justin with me to a park for pictures, and this group of older people stopped me on the trail to ask what his story was. I explained (in simplest terms) what he is, then they asked his name and background! They wanted to know where his clothes came from, where I got his shoes, if he had a bedroom of his own (he does) and what it looked like....I had his hand bandaged because he arrived broken in shipment and I'm still waiting on a replacement, and the lady noticed and even asked about his "owwie". After all of this, she asked if she could take pictures of him! I've met plenty of curious people, but never a total stranger that got THAT interested! I guess it's fitting though, since Justin IS a pop star---I just expected his most curious "fans" to be characters in his story, not real people! :P

    16. My mother in law does the same thing! I don't really talk to my or his extended family about my dolls, because they already think we're weird and "tolerate" it as is. It's one of those "I don't understand or like your hobbies so I'm not going to talk about it" sort of situations. (It's fine because I don't like them either! -.-) So when a family member randomly asks, it sort of startles me--"how do you know this?" ><

    17. First doll just got home. Husband says, "she's almost as pretty as my wife!"

    18. I showed one of my dolls to my (81-year-old) landlady and she was delighted. We'd been talking about crafting, knitting and sewing in particular, so I told her about my "mini models" and she was curious, so I skipped upstairs to get a doll to show her. She was fascinated by the jointing, the way the eyes are interchangeable, the little clothes ... it was the sweetest thing.

    19. I don't know any non BJD lovers, but my sister is not fond of dolls and did not even want to see photos when I first entered this hobby and now she looks at the pictures I show her, that's a big thing coming from her...

    20. One of my coworkers gets really excited about Ardese and always asks to see pictures and hear updates about him. He even brings him up in conversation before I do. He said he wants his own BJD sort of, but he just likes hearing about them and wants to meet mine eventually (I haven't taken Ardy out in public yet).

One of my best friends is terrified of dolls but I had Ardese out when she came over and she actually held him and examined him, adding as a comment, "He's really cute/pretty... in a soulless sort of way," which is quite a compliment from her, considering. :sweat I also posted a picture of one his new outfits on Tumblr and she went on Skype to tell me, "your doll is creepy but he has very nice clothes". I think she's warming up to him.
