1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

thing you would love to see in the bjd world?

Sep 4, 2008

    1. i would love to see dolls with a little longer limbs i think i saw some posts of people who wanted that too like you have a asian bjd and it has very long and slim legs and very long and slim arms...i think these things look mysterious...or have a longer torso its just the veriety of bodies that make them unique!

    2. I'd love to see a bulkier male doll. I love the skinny, bony, I-can-see-your-skeleton look (my boyfriend is like that, so of course I like it), but I'd love to see a doll that had more bulk rather than just tone. Like...Hugh Jackman in doll form...

    3. I am currently working on 2 BJD mold thingies. I am making a pregnant belly for my Soom Asil since I am trying to make a "family" of BJDs. The tummy will be magnetic and will have a BJD baby inside;I am still working on making the baby. I will also be making a BJF or Ball Jointed Ferret. It will be so cute if I can figure out how to to the mid section most of it is already completed now. Oh...and no one steal my ideas, ok?

    4. Wow I think I just found the perfict thread.... I still looking for my first Doll but after I buy one I just want to sculpt things.... Like Horses and Centaurs and mermaids... I love the Doll Systim Idea so if i doget to make things I think I will make difrent sized parts all compatible, Its a very good Idea. having the diffrent options for hight is something that should be posible.

Edit: I dont want people to think I just want to steal there Ideas... I have been wanting to make alot of these things sence I found out about BJDs.

    5. For MSD size, check out Fairyland's Minifee active line body. It does remind me of Hughie. DDE has them available.

If you want a 60 cm doll with some substance, the DIM Torudolls look like they've been pumping iron. Once I get him blushed, my scholar boy Mathonwy needs to give the audience here a shirtless photoshoot- he has a sixpack! :D:

IN addition, have you seen the EID Iplehouse dolls? WHoo. I say again Whoo. Those boys are like football players or pro wrestlers. Broad shoulders and a lot of muscle.

    6. Check out Soom's Mecha Angels, or the Dollshe boys. They're big, but they're very slender and long. Bobobie also makes some taller slimmer molds.

    7. Awesome thread btw!
Most of these have already been mentioned before so I'm really just agreeing, I want to see:
More scary/horror dolls - like the werewolf idea on page 1
DIY kits for tatts, bindis, scars etc where you don't have to be an artist to apply them
A pregnant bjd or at least an attachment for a female (or male as well these days ;P)
baby bjds to go with the mama doll above
      More Black and Asian dolls
Types of wings and other fantasy accessories
More historical costumes that are in the "mainstream" and at mainstream prices!

    8. Wings for ears. Like the sculpture in the background of this painting: http://www.bestpriceart.com/vault/cgfa_khnopff1.jpg

Euclase had wing ears, but they were too long and floppy for me. I think one of the Volks elves with option ears had wings too, but I didn't like the face sculpt.

And a six-winged doll (er, the wings being on the back). We're all obsessed with sexy angels anyway, why not go all out on a seraphim. 8D

Or just one pair of wings, sculpted not made of feathers, SD size, and made from some LIGHT plastic not resin, and attachable with magnets.

More historically inspired shoes. I say "inspired" because I don't really care if they're 100% accurate, I just want to see some of these quirky style elements incorporated.

Especially these kickass 17th century boots with the interesting clover-shaped flap on the front: http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/2539/cavalier17thc2li.jpg

And victorian boots that button on the side: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/11d/f/AAAAAktIUhIAAAAAAR30XA.jpg

I can only find a white tall boot with snaps on the side for girls. T_T I want black, or black-and-white, for boys, and if they've got to be snaps I want at least snaps that look like buttons, not thumb-tacks.

      And spats. Spats are awesome.

...but in general I am pleased as punch with the doll trends of late. Most of my wishes have been fulfilled. It's only a matter of saving up the necessary funds! ;)

    9. -Runway inspired fashion
I don't really like dressing my dolls in lolita, which is the most prevalent doll fashion. I'd like some companies to be a little more trend conscious so I could make some more realistic characters. Dollmore is getting better at this.

      -Normal dolls
I wish everyone would stop playing with new sizes, body types, and trying to outdo each other by having bigger wings or horns. I just want to see companies make some good, normal head molds again. Go back to the way BJDs were handled in the early 00's.

      -More young, large dolls
I'm not particularly in love with the overly mature, realistic doll trend. I like the Syo molds that are semi based in reality and semi based in anime aesthetics. There are plenty of tiny and mini heads I love until I realize they're small dolls and not SD size.

      -More furniture and accessories
I wish there was more affordable furniture. I love the beautiful couches and chairs Volks makes that look like real furniture, but there aren't enough companies doing cheaper versions. BJD interior decorating is a totally unexeplored avenue that I think would be a lucrative business for someone.

    10. Definitely have to agree with you here, usagi. Modern fashion, or rather something besides rocker/lolita/asian traditional.

More furniture: a setup where dolls can be posed on furniture to their scale and level of realism would be amazing.

I'd also like to see more boyish wigs. I understand due to the nature of the wig cap that this is a little difficult, but not all my characters have ear-length or longer hair. I do like the default Ryoya wig - something like that, but perhaps a bit shorter in the front

    11. I have to agree here... shorter hair would be awesome

    12. Dolls that are 50-55cm so you could have a character that is a "between" size/age rather than going from 8 to 15 T_T

I'd also like to see more historical clothing, esp French. :D I would buy a girl doll just to put her in a pompadour dress!

More furniture, especially things like vanity+mirror, large dining table that can fit a whole family (not just the round cafe tables for 2), canopy beds, piano, and vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, and a historical carriage (hey, a girl can dream right?)

    13. I would love some historically accurate clothing. A lot of companies will do something with a corset or a big skirt but it's just Hollywood looking. The clothes have more integrity when they're based off a real historical garment.

    14. I agree with you about the horns.

Excuse me if I'm coming out of nowhere with this, but I think it'd be wonderful for at least one or two doll makers to offer a customization where you can add extra limbs. For instance, a girl with spider-arms? That kind of thing.
Maybe I'm alone in that, though. X3

    15. I think curvier female dolls would also be nice. Ones that look like they have a squish to them. I think that's really cute. ; ^;

    16. I was devistated to find that there was only ONE catgirl modle doll within reach when I first got into bjds. I managed to get my hands on the precious little catgirl (DZ Shoyo3) but it made me sad that there weren't more cat/dog type girls/boys. come on companies! get creative! we can't all afford the awesomeness of Soom!

    17. Volks has cat ears in the MSD FCS and they had a standard MSD named Nasha with the same ears.

    18. really? I can never find Anything when I go to the Volks USA site. XP

    19. I don't think they have much about FCS on the USA site, but check this one out:

      http://www.angelden.net/fcs/index.html

By the way, the second doll in my signature is a Volks FCS kitty-eared MSD. :)

    20. You have to special order the FCS in person or have a person do it for you (can find them in the marketplace). Cassiel's site has info on all the different parts available.
