1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things about this hobby that you find hilarious?

Apr 30, 2021

    1. Damn. Calling you out like that - savage.
      I like your husband.

    2. He puts up with the dolls and my fabric-stashing proclivities with good humor. He's a keeper.

    3. When I lay out fabric to mark or cut out doll clothes, my cats will go TOY! and try to kill the fabric. Or sit on it, sprawling out so I must get creative to keep working.

    4. Seeing how other people around you react when they hear a doll related conversation out of context. It often sounds like you just murdered someone…

    5. I spent so much money on doll clothes for my new boy its hilarious. Two skirts, a blouse, a pair of socks and new shoes...i prolly spent close to 80 all together? which isnt BAD but my wallet is hurting.

    6. I'm around this world practically since yesterday, so my experience is absolutely limited, but one thing that make me chuckle all the time is the "uncle" denomination for dolls higher than 70cm (I hope I'm not mistaken).
I mean, reading that something is "uncle size" is too weird in my brain :mwahaha

    7. Don't worry, I've been around some years now and I still chuckle with "uncle" size, it never stops being funny :XD:

One of the most amusing parts to me is browsing around foreign sites, like Yahoo Auctions and Taobao, while relying on Google Translate. I have a screenshot somewhere of something that got translated as "BJD with mozzarella cheese" in one of UFDolls' Taobao listings :XD:

    8. Hmm, i gotta say the conversations you can end up having in the wild (in public) Seeing other peoples reactions to them too. Especially if you don't have a doll out and all they hear is: Well, i sliced her breasts off because i decided i wanted a flatchested girl instead! Or i changed her eyes since blue looks better. One of the better ones were: "Well one day his arm just popped off!! it took ages collecting the pieces and put it back together!" The lady behind my friend in the coffee shop looked mortified but didn't say anything.

    9. "what's in the box?"

      *GRIN* "Eyeballs!"

    10. 'what's in the case?"
      *innocent* "Heads."

    11. "Why can't I get the dang head off??"

    12. "I'm just going to hang this body up with the others..."

    13. I think it's quite funny how many of us have had awkward accidental encounters with our dolls. Whether it's a loved one walking in on a changing session or just a stranger seeing us taking pictures.

    14. WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOXXXX???

      Sorry, couldn't resist.

    15. I forget where I was, but I was talking with a friend about where I keep my floating heads while standing in line.

"I need to add that head to the Headbasket, at least until I get him a body."

The looks on the faces of the people near us...I swear that one guy slowly shuffled a few feet away from us!

And speaking of headless dolls, Shuichi is out getting a faceup, so right now he has three tootsie roll lollipops as his head. I should post that pic somewhere, or send it to my siblings, just to get their reactions. :XD:;)

    16. I got two out getting faceups too lol. Just two headless little kids, sitting on the shelf...

    17. I ... may spend time on Mandarake, just so I can find the occasional mistranslation.

"Volks SD Mai on slut body." Seems harsh, Mandarake.

Or my favorite - when they had an optional Unoa bust for sale, and the listing just said "tits." I laughed and laughed...

    18. I was browsing some clothing pre-orders on nine9style a few weeks ago after being out of the hobby for years, and they had all kinds of clothing items for different sizes. The only item that was already sold out?

...The french maid apron for Idealian-sized boys.

I looked at that, shook my head and went "never change, BJD hobby, never change."

    19. I think one of the funniest (and sorta disturbing as well) I've seen was this doll that had a positionable / removable tongue. I think it was called something like Blue Citron or something; but it's been years now.

    20. For some reason, that brought to mind that Nobility Doll boy (Emotional 70cm, I believe) with pressable nipples. Those have to still be one of the most hilarious things I've discovered in the hobby:XD:

As an add-on: firm, pointy nipples. Why do they need projectile nips? Are they eternally chilly?
