1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread* - pt.2

    1. lmao ties directly into my 'hate'
I have X$'s to spend... what doll should I get? I have never seen a bjd in person either....

O_O wtf? 10,000 different dolls out there and you want a stranger to randomly tell you what doll you should get? Can i pick your fave colors and foods too? Remember you have to like it too ><...

    2. Exactly! I have so many sculpts I love, but I'm not in the position to buy them all hahah

    3. Others probably have mentioned it already but I can't stand it when people do not inform me that their item has arrived safely to them. I get no closure from it and it's really annoying!

    4. Here's a new one for me: falling in love with a company only to realize the dolls you love from them are all discontinued. (Looking at you, original Luts Delfs)

    5. I guess I've grown accustomed to the waiting, but what I find annoying is NOT KNOWING HOW LONG. Be it dolls, clothes, whatever. I'd like an honest estimate of how long it will take to make or ship, and some updates if that estimate changes.

I realize language might be an issue in some cases and definitely culture in others. But I also know that people are generally happier if you let them know that they have to wait a longer time than they anticipated, than if you just ignore them and hope they don't mind.

    6. Finding SO MANY POSTS in the marketplace, none if them what you're looking for.

    7. Layaway flakes... To me a layaway means that I may not have the full amount now, but I know a decisive date(s) when I will have it so let me start with what I can give now and you'll get the rest at that decisive date(s). Some people seem to think this means "I'll get the money to you whenever is most convenient to me." Then once you start chasing them up for their payments because you are sick of hearing "I'll get it to you in the next few days," suddenly the whole world is against them getting the money to you. As if they didn't have weeks upon weeks to prepare for this.-__-

    8. Custom fees =.= to much and add waiting time :vein

    9. Waiting and international shipping for me! I'm not really prepared space-wise for my guys to get here, but I'm itching to have them safely here with me at the same time, it's so frustrating. And the SHIPPING, it's so much, it's like the price of good pastels AND brushes AND a can of MSC, it's ludicrous! :sigh

    10. I guess for me it is when the talk turns into gossip and if i Said I liked someone the talk turns into how this person is not nice and it gets too personal and I do not want to hear it anymore because it is invasive. I don’t like how if the person hate someone they try to make the whole chat hate them too so I don’t bring up people I like or people in general because it always turns negative for no reason and not related too anything it made me not want to talk with them because next time the person they are targeting could be me

I don’t know I always felt bad when we video chatted more than I would like to admit

I’m happy to say the new group of locals I met aren’t like that but it did make me become cautious of who to bring up or what to talk about

This is more a negative of me than the hobby

It is hard to understand the tone in the text on website forums and I am little too sensitive and think it might be someone talking condescending to me because my English is horrible terrible and because I am male and because I am new to doll world. I always have to remind myself that I am paranoid that there are other men’s in the hobby and that people don’t hate and to not take it personal because it is not and I am reading too much into nothing it is something I need to work on because I am not self confident in anything that it is my problem with my self and not other people’s problem so no need to think negative of them because of my unnormal train of thought

    11. I have fabulous chairs from Michael's craft store and American Girl brand - if that helps. Michael's also has unfinished wood bookshelves and dressers that might work for you. Good Hunting!

I'm very interested in Trinity. What's a handholder? I checked Dollmore's site and can't find handholders.

    12. it's a string puller for hands and feet of the big dolls they come ON the doll when shipped (hands/feet wrapped separately) the 'puller is a place holder also for the hand. I can dig mine up another day if you want pics

    13. I did a panel at a convention with my dolls over 2 years ago, I took my pukipuki's hand off to show the magnet system and must not have attached it properly(totally my fault for being careless). So I have had a one handed tiny troll wreaking havoc on the rest of my crew. I have been putting off buying new hoping some would come up in the UK sales group but have had no such luck and the full dolls with spare hands have all been the wrong resin colour.

So today I have bitten the bullet and ordered the teeny tiny hands from Fairyland.

Now here is my gripe. I've had to pay more more for POSTAGE than the two sets of hands cost themselves. It is infuriating! But at least he will not be hand-less.

      Ah the joys of tinies.

    14. Ah! No need for a photo, but it's very nice of you to offer! What a smart way to ship fragile hands and feet! I LOVE those hands!
      THANK YOU, Lady Tiku!

Yes, sorry to hear about the steep postage.
Your poor little PukiPuki! I had thoughts of Captain Hook and Luke Skywalker!
When I last ordered from Fairyland, I went a little nuts adding hands, feet and clothing to save on postage for my tiny bjd.
I hope it goes better for you in the future.

    15. Haha I don't mind too much, it was part of the reason it has taken me so long to get him a new hand. I was just tempted to sew some Jedi robes for him haha! But yes, two sets of hands for $20 and $22 for shipping. T_T

    16. Am I the only one who thinks Fairlyland's Minifee Moe girl butt is the ugliest thing ever? Like seriously.. Google image "butt atrophy" and compare what comes up to that (anything but "Moe") butt.

Not at all attractive to me.

    17. Tonight..... someone is so excited about 'made to move Barbie' they just love all the "ball jointed fashion dolls"... I'm not even sure this person has ever even seen a bjd and they definitely have no idea that a pinned hinge is not a ball joint. This is not even knowledge about dolls this is basic joints that can be found in lots of places... I wonder if they think a revolving door is a ball joint hinge ... or... something.

    18. Plenty of online stores have things that make me go "take my money!" More often than not, their servers are unsecured. The risk is outweighs by desire to buy.

    19. Lady Tiku reminded me: upon seeing my bjds, two different people said,"Nice Barbies!" Every doll is a Barbie to some.
It's just easier to not show my bjds to other people.

    20. On the flip side, it annoys me when people insist that vinyl and/or dolls that *do* have ball joints aren't BJDs just because they're off topic here on DoA. ;)

And since I just mentioned this in another thread, it also annoys me when people give newbies "Just buy that doll now! They hold their value, so you can sell it later."-type advice. With a few limited exceptions, that's just not true anymore and while yes, they can sell the doll, it will be at a loss (and often a significant one). I think we're setting the new people up for disappointment by not being clearer about that.
