1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread* - pt.2

Jul 13, 2017

    1. @Chameleon I share your pain! I wish Canadian sellers could be kinder when selling within Canada. I'm already going to pay through the nose for insurance and shipping.

    2. I love the lack of customs on dolls bought in Canada though! I have an incoming one that would have dinged me pretty hard if I hadn’t ordered her from another Canadian.

    3. Omg I didn’t even this about this but YES!

Okay, ready for this? I hope you’re sitting down if you’re reading this. Biggest pet peeve is when a company announces it’s discontinuing over 20 sculpts right before Christmas and after it’s already discontinued tan so you can’t order that color. UGH UGH UGH!!!

    4. I'm annoyed that I want to buy something from someone, and they haven't logged onto DoA for months! I know that they received the email notification. :|

And then when they do finally log on, they ignore that you want to talk to them about buying something from them!

"Look, I want to buy something from you! Why can't you at least acknowledge that I messaged you!" :vein

    5. I'm annoyed that there isn't any reliable spray sealant for faceups that isn't insanely toxic. I use proper respiratory equipment but I still hate working with MSC to the point I don't wanna do my own faceups anymore. :vein

    7. Been in the hobby like, my first girl can go to secondary school. I have so many pet peeves lol
The major one for now, can be kinda controversial. I don't like the atmosphere of 'Owners can only buy items from china'. Biggest reason is political, affecting our daily life here, second reason is that there are so many talents people around the world! I see this hobby about creativity, diversity, possibility... Why limiting the horizon?

Yes yes yes, every single word of this. I've come to a point I decided to try do it myself. I want long stylish simple one piece and wide leg pants, with a bit of ace hint :P

    8. I can relate! There's a particular color that one of my guys need so that he looks like his canon anime character. I have been looking for it ever since I got into the hobby. The few times I've found something close, they were limited colors and also sold out. :doh:vein:x:evil::(

    9. It peeves me that the 'budget' bjds (abc plastic, 3d printed, ect) aren't considered true bjd's. I get *why* resin dolls are so expensive, but that doesn't mean everyone can afford them. I worked really hard on my dolls, but i feel bad or like i can't share them b/c they don't fit peoples standards

    10. I can understand that. I think that there's a lot of room for growth in "budget" doll materials and production, especially with how more accessible it is for both producer and purchaser, and it'll be interesting to see how people feel about them in five years...

And if your dolls don't fit other people's standards, that's their problem! Respect their spaces that you post in but establish your own and fly your doll flag high! :thumbup

    11. Someone's probably already mentioned this, but the language used around skin tones like "normal" and "tan" is definitely uncomfortable to me...

I also wish there were more butch girl dolls, with masculine face sculpts and muscle.

    12. Yeah, the language around doll resin colors as well as some sculpts is incredibly awkward and sometimes outright racist, imo. I don’t like the second lightest skin tone being called ‘normal’ and I REALLY don’t like all shades of darker skin being named after foods (‘coffee’ ‘dark chocolate’ etc). Artists and companies need to take a page from the book of modern makeup companies who have moved away from these kinds of descriptions

I also wish there were more androgynous or just normal clothing options out there, especially since I am getting into 1/4 mature/fashion style dolls now (which is unreasonable of me bc everyone into that style of doll is obsessed with displaying their dolls in sexy couture lingerie apparently!) But, it gives me more motivation to work on my sewing skills.

    13. I hear you on both counts here! I had to get into modding so I could have a tall muscular girl without an hourglass waist. I also love companies that name their shades (like twigling- cream, pink, sienna, vivid and raw umber being her human shades) rather than ‘normal’ and then other shades. Reese from twigling also got me thinking about biological essentialism in male/female bodies, when she was trying to figure out what she wanted to do about that, based on the fact that she uses gender neutral pronouns for her head sculpts. There’s kind of a lot to think about with the terminology.

    14. Inconsistent head sizes! Most mature tinies have 4 inch heads, but some companies make them with similar proportioned bodies and smaller heads. I have a character I want to re-shell, but I don't want him to be pin headed in comparison with my other dolls that are his friend and girlfriend.

Atelier Momoni is one company that doesn't have a "normal" resin color, and charges the same price for all resin colors.

But I don't like how much extra many companies charge for darker resin tones. $10-$30 is ok, but $70?
      That seems unreasonable to me.

    15. Right? FairyLand's skin tones are called Beautiful White, Natural, and Tan. Maybe because they are a company based in Korea. It's a shame there's issues like bubbles with their tan skin tone, or that they don't have darker tones, because I would love to get a FairyLand doll with a darker skin tone.

This, so much this. I had a hard time looking for clothing for my MiniFee because all the outfits were so skimpy. Etsy kept trying to suggest bjd bdsm accessories (why!? I'm asexual, I have no interest in sexualizing anything). I eventually found what I was looking for, but I had to order it from all the way in China.

    16. My Supia Doll MSD arrived in a large box. Occupied a lot of space to store it.

    17. When third party sellers are more enthusiastic answering all your question when you are just buying the doll or on the layaway but suddenly turns out mute when you fully paid and asking for updates

    18. I say every skin tone should be named after food, lol! Milk and butter could be used for pale skin tones, or well maybe it’s just me I really like the names coffee and chocolate, but I don’t get why paler skin tones don’t have food names too. I would also like to see companies using wood names to describe skin tones, from maple to ebony, but I get not everyone would know what walnut or oak would refer to, for example.

    19. OH i also forgot to mention!! It's a major peeve of mine when sculpts have animal ears on the top of the head AND normal human ones. It makes it look like there wearing a headband, instead of them actually having animal ears. I get that the animal ears are technically 'optional' so they need normal ears for people who arent furries don't want them but... eugh. it just doesn't look good at all

    20. I'm on the hunt for an athletic, non-idealized SD male body. What I've seen is bodybuilder, ultra bodybuilder, and sometimes bodybuilder with protruding ribs.
