1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread* - pt.2

    1. I generally wait on receiving feedback on a transaction to go leave it because of that. I'm usually the one doing the shipping in transactions here, and feel it shouldn't be left until the transaction is complete (meaning, you received your item/s), but if someone doesn't want to let me know it arrived and leave feedback as a signal it's done, then I generally won't leave feedback in exchange. For one, you apparently don't feel you need it that badly, and for two, I don't necessarily feel like I should be "penalizing" them for failing to let me know their package arrived, since any number of things could have caused that (just got busy, got excited and forgot, something else came up, etc), and if I left feedback it'd be dishonest to say "great communication" if they fell off at the end.

    2. I am at the point where I PM a pic of the doll/item to the other person, and then I ask for feedback if its been longer than a week or two. I mean, its only fair that I gave you feedback, give me some too, thankyouverymuch! :3nodding:

    3. ... And it's gone! Sets of 20 - never to be sold again! A listing for a beautiful doll that's sold out within minutes. Needing to have about $1K on hand in case something I just have to have comes out.

As a USAian accustomed to being able to buy anything I want, whenever I want it, BJDs are a culture shock to say the least. Not being able to convince mfrs to ship to me. Websites not in English.

I mean, it's almost as if the world doesn't revolve around me.

    4. IKR?

I opened a savings account specifically for saving up in case a doll comes up I'd want. Sure, right now, it only has like $13 in it since I used the rest to put a doll on layaway.

Ugh, sellers that don't do layaway are a real pain! What adult with bills, rent, car payments and more has $1K USD put aside specifically for dolls? I definitely don't! :chomp:

Thank the gods above for layaway and sellers that are willing to work with you! :abow:

    5. I did the same thing, it's really helpful with trying to not miss on those dolls that are limited and can't go on layaway for me. Of course, mine's down a chunk since I decided to pillage it to put toward an awesome sewing machine on layaway, but hey, it's my money, I can spend it on the luxury hobby of my choice.

And this is a very personal annoyance but I just have to say: I really wish the lights in my doll cabinets would work consistently! They're on a remote switch that likes to drop off the rest of my system at random times, and because it's behind the cabinets, I can't do anything other than wait for it to decide it's going to work again. :vein I just want to see my dolls, technology!

    6. Honestly, it was you, @vicemage that gave me the idea to do so! Paypal now gives you the option to save towards something, and rather than save towards a vacation (COVID, uh, no thanks!) or something else, I decided to use it to save towards BJDs and related things. So thank you for that!

Yeah, technology...why does one lightbulb for my old-ass figures cabinet cost like $7! And why doesn't the cabinet I want for dolls have a pre-installed light option? It looks like I'm going to have to put one in myself, and I'm not that "handy." Ugh! :sweat *shakes fist in IKEA*

    7. Oh wow, I had no idea they did that! I've got an app going right now that stores up money that I can dump to Paypal, I wonder if I could set it up to do something like that? :)

I have IKEA cabinets that don't have preinstalled lights, but do have a really easy to install system, so my whole issue instead is just the controller behind them. Which I got so I didn't have to have a controller visible, but nooooooo it just doesn't want to work some days so instead I just get darkness, and there's no room lights on that side to compensate. Ugh! I really need to plan the new layout so the outlet is accessible somehow... this s*** is getting old.

(If you want some help with the lighting stuff though, PM me, since that probably won't be too ranty. Maybe it'll turn out I've set up similar!)

    8. When things that I want are super hard to buy or impossible to buy. Because of that, I even sometimes lose interest in this hobby..

    9. Small thing, as i just got my girl out of storage from moving...she was perfectly strung, and now she's JUST floppy enough for it to be annoying. And i cant currently restring her so she gets to stay floppy for now.

    10. Something that bums me out...I don’t have many “friends” in the hobby. If I’m looking for a doll that a popular person is also looking for, their friends repost the WTB. No chance against that :-\

    11. Yeah, I don't remember which thread you mentioned it on, but once I found out that Paypal lets you do that, I jumped on it. :3nodding:

I'm probably going to try putting in the lights myself at first, but if I mess it up, then I'll PM you for advice. I'm still researching what kind of lights I want to add to my (future) cabinet, so it might be a bit. ;)

    12. Limited run times for dolls that are totally never gonna be sold again, and that are then sold again.

Seeing someone spend 4x the amount on a doll because they fit x character despite them being in a financial pickle.Bonus points if you are good enough acquaintances where you half begged them not to do it.

lack of small, mature dolls. Too many baby faces

    13. My dad tells me that “your car knows when you have money cause that when it decides to break down” ...well the opposite can be said for bjd’s i feel. They know when you don’t have money! And they all show up and taunt you! Haha :3 at least for me anyways

    14. Being told (and charged for) that your doll will be shipped priority or express, only to find out they sent it economy

      • x 1

    15. If they did that, I'm pretty sure that you can contact the Mods and launch a formal complaint against the seller. But first, I would make sure you have pics or video to back it up, and also speak to the seller and ask for the difference back. If not, then speak to a Mod about it.

I'm not sure, but I think that's called "bait and switch," and if it isn't totally illegal here in the US (where this forum is based), then its at least a deceptive practice. And since the selling part of this hobby relies on trust....

    16. It was on a facebook group where the admins do not get involved in sales at all. She is located in Germany and I have all of our correspondance saved. I even asked her at one point if she sent it slower, she didn't answer directly, that should have been my first clue.
Once the package arrived it said economy on it, and I didn't keep the customs forms. I am letting it go, I just had to get it off my chest.
In the future I will be sure to request exactly how I want something shipped. I know that won't necessarily mean they will do what we agree upon, as happened here, but I am more than willing to pay full shipping charges to go the fastest route.
My friend is going through something similar right now as well, and this seller also won't directly answer how she shipped it. We are both at a point we are not wanting to buy from overseas secondhand because this has happened more times than I care to admit, which is why I am frustrated and venting about it. I just wish people would do what they say :/

    17. I'm sure other people have said similar things before, but how much extra companies charge for tan resin can be pretty annoying. I'd be ok with $25 extra, but $50 is more common and that's annoying. I could get a nice wig and eyes for that much. It doesn't stop me from buying them, though. I wonder if they do it reduce the demand for face-ups? Hmmm...

    18. Aside from all things, there's one thing that really annoys me, that is sending the doll head out for face up commission LOL
First there's my anxiety about my heads being damage/lost during shipment. Then there's the wait. OH THE WAIT, especially for the popular face up artist (but it's so worth it.) Just one of the dilemma about this hobby XD

    19. My ultimate dolly pet peeve are multi-part torsos that have zero posing function. Like, what's the point of putting an extra joint under the bust or at the hips if I can't make the doll slouch or lean or what have you?? Why not go with a single piece torso and save us all the trouble???

Also, I hate when you email a company regarding something important about your doll order and they simply never respond. I had an issue once where I emailed the company three weeks ahead of them shipping my order to change the shipping address since it was holiday break from college, I was at home, and I didn't trust my roommate not to damage it. I emailed them three times. I never got a confirmation that they received my email, got the shipping notification, and of course my roommate let me know a few days later that it had arrived. I was fortunate that I hadn't permanently moved or something! I know English isn't their native language and I'm sure they get tons of emails and inquiries, but come on, I could've lost a $400 body over that!

    20. @Livazy That is the exact scenario I am living now! My two heads are halfway across the world (one is limited) I am low key worried about the shipping on the way back and the face ups getting damaged...
