1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread* - pt.2

Jul 13, 2017

    1. I have a few of these...

      Being unable to buy sunlight option hands/feet outside of Tenshi no Sato. I don't have the time to take a trip to Kyoto just for some hands - _ -;
Also, no pointed feet (I know Peapod Doll used to have some but I was a broke student back in those days and they seem to have dropped off the face of the Earth a few years ago)
Being unable to find 1/3 scales books with actual printed text inside (it might just be a me problem though since I also want them to be in Japanese)
Being a week late to the preorder for an outfit set, and then never finding for sale secondhand.
Looking for doll clothes, finding something super cute and then realizing it only comes in MSD size
      Shoe shopping.

I'm sure that I'll think of more eventually but that's all I've got for now.

    2. What do you mean? (sorry, I'm confused)

    3. another pet peeve- buying a head and it arriving to be bigger than listed, so now you have to find a new body for it, new character, new eyes, new clothes, new wig, etc.

    4. I'm guessing more representation of different ethnicity? Face features not 'colors'.

    5. Well, going into the hobby I'd hoped most of my dolls would somehow conveniently fit together. However, even if they're all categorized under one scale, it turns out that's still really hard to pull off! It's pretty frustrating.

    6. I'm a relative noobie, and I feel like my biggest frustration in this hobby so far is just 'being in Europe', haha. It feels like dealers are already sparse and just keep falling off the map, another one is starting to shut down this year. Plus, customs and shipping prices are so ludicrously high. A doll I love is on sale on acbjd, but actually getting her to me with shipping and customs means I pay almost half of what she's worth just on fees alone anyway... Plus every dealer I've dealt with has been kind of a negative experience, with miscommunication or even damages to the dolls. I feel like this hobby just shouldn't be as frustrating as it is :vein

    7. @Dins Have you considered the second-hand market? I frequently browse various doll MPs and there are tons of Europeans selling dolls.

Actually, as someone from the USA, I get frustrated when I find something I'd love to buy on the MP and I see the seller is from Europe/Asia/Australia. It's not that I don't want to pay their asking price (I've seen so many good deals), it's the shipping I don't even want to think about.

And also when people ask you to pay their PayPal fees... like c'mon just incorporate it into your asking price. Especially if it's a person from the US, where it's against ToS to ask buyers to cover your fees. Shame on you.

    8. Shopping. For. Wigs. You can never find one that is the style you want AND the color you want AND not permanently out of stock.

My new doll's pinchy butt would be a close second, though. That little jerk has pinched me through his pants!!!! What the heck!

    9. lol wigs.! my 'current' issue with the hobby lol... i can find the same wig even in more than one place! but like you it's never the right color, size, style at the same time. Worse im known for being really hard on wigs... i now by two of any 'primary' wigs. you know the hair and the spare? lol... and then theres the one wig from one place and one from another.... shipping turns into a nightmare... and i have not even 'started' on 'custom' style needs ><

    10. Wigs, my lord. How can there be literally thousands of wigs out there, and not a single one that works for me? Right color, right style, right size...you can get two out of three, maximum. I wish I were a person who didn't create the character first, because there's plenty of great wigs and eyes out there. But not when you need that one particular perfect one.

    11. There's lots of people out there who make detailed mohair wigs for dollhouse scale dolls outside our hobby, but inside, nothing that isn't a giant shrubbery for Pukipuki sized heads. I'd pay so much money for actually styled updos and proper styling on tiny wigs.

    12. @Rosslyn - Amadiz and Kagami designs on etsy? I think they do tiny wigs too. Pricy tho.

    13. I just need to pick some good styles and approach them with the requests. Hand work is fiddly at that scale, but if I could style hair that well I'd do it myself, so I know how much I'd charge and I don't mind their prices for that kind of work.

    14. My pet peeve is trying to position eyes in my dolls. I find it super fiddly. The eye putty never seems to stick well enough to the eyes and just as you get one eye in the correct position, the other decides to move...grrr.:vein I also dislike trimming a fringe (yep i'm British this is what is known as "bangs" in the US & some other countries, as I discovered some years ago which had me perplexed intially:lol: lol)) on wigs as they are often far too long to begin with and most of the fantasy multi-coloured wigs I like come with a fringe so it's hard to avoid. But yikes it's difficult getting those bangs straight, sometimes it doesn't look so bad in person but when you photograph them or face them in the mirror it shows up really badly. It just irks me. I find dressing up my resin BJD's in general to be quite tricky as they just don't seem to want to co-operate and take on a life of their own while i'm hoping I don't inadvertently damage them somehow. :sigh

    16. Spent three days removing the faceup of my new boy - it seems like the previous owner used a sealant that was not MSC/Tamiya. Now my wrists hurt and since I spent all my freetime removing the faceup I don't have time now to give him a new one. Poor boy...
And today I got the wigs I ordered from Crobi for their 2+2 deal, but had to pay customs which was almost as much as the free wigs would have cost me. On the bright side the wigs look amazing and their quality is great so it's not that bad.

    17. I recently ordered my 1st BJD and already have two pet peeves. As several people have already shared-long waiting time to receive the doll and finding outfits that will work with the size of the doll and the style and look I want.

    18. I find I'm at my most unpleasant when changing out eyes. Even my partner knows that he'd better steer clear of me when I'm the middle of putting them in, or else he might get caught in the crossfire as I launch them across the room in my frustration  Once they're where I want them to be (which can take 15+ minutes of me barely pushing the eye in any direction, and trying to turn it upright so it matches the positioning of the other one, and make sure they're level with one another, and... ) I worry sometimes that putting the headcap back in place (Dollfie Dreams have a soft-ish headcap that you have to squish a bit to get it back on) will disturb the eyes :?

A lot of my girls wear their wigs with the hairline super far back to the point where if you lifted the bangs up, you'd think they were wearing a toupee :sweat I'm terrible at trimming hair and I'd rather leave that to the wig maker, so I'll just compensate this way for now.

    19. lol reading made me think up this... i may have a 'fix' for one frequent rant... XD About putting in eyes....

Do it with doll face pointed at a mirror so you can see where dolls eye is and not be flipping head back and forth to 'check'? No i have not done this... the idea just now occurred to me lol

    20. Yes I second the fantasy part! sorcerer/mage robes don't seem to really exist unless I'm looking in the wrong spot not sure x3

Yes to the owners pictures one! Like omg I once was just trying to see the difference between NS and WS in a doll I'm interested in and would find images/box openings in just tan or purple, PURPLE! >:V
