1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. Flakey buyers on the MP and/or particularly Facebook... -___-;;;;;; Like, seriously, I don't want to deter anyone to contact me for info, as a matter of fact i don't mind that... but like don't ask for the price of shipping, agree to it... then disappear until i contact you and turn around telling me you're not getting the item... hhh...

    2. I just realized I find it annoying if people post links to pictures/picture albums in their sales thread rather than the picture itself, especially if it's facebook or another place that I'm not on that requires signing in. Maybe that's over-entitlement to convenience, I dunno, but I like to have all the info about a sale all in one place without having to click back and forth.

And I have to second what was said earlier: posting in a thread with a valid question and getting totally ignored>.>.

    3. Those who clearly used magic markers on their dolls trying to pass that off as "tattoos." No, it's not, although it's just as permanent, and is going to take "surgery" to make go away.

    4. I think you can leave flakey feedback for them. It might be nice to know which sellers are prone to that kind of behavior. . . saves on the aggravation. ;)

I have kind of the opposite peeve, answering questions or giving advice but getting ignored (or mocked). :sweat Maybe it's because I'm not one of the "cool kids."

Oh, thought of another one, boots that lace in the front but still have zippers :| I'm talking even on ankle boots, not just tall ones. Clunky, out-of-scale soles on all footwear. *_*

    5. I would say my greatest pet peeves would be.

      1. Sellers not leaving feedback when you bought from them & left them excellent feedback.
      2. Faceup artists that drop off the face of the earth after you ship them your heads.

For all my years in this hobby that is what really bothers me.

    6. Sold out dolls that are in the middle of available dolls or in places where you are supposed to buy dolls. Jesus! it's not that hard to create some kind of archive that you can enter at your own risk ¬¬

    7. I recently discovered the tumblr bjd confessions page and am really confused and sad. I'm getting back into the hobby about a hiatus and I'm curious if all the negativity was there when I was active before or if I was just ignorant to it... I've never been a victim of bullying here or seen it in threads that I've browsed but I find it really upsetting that others have had to deal with it. I've always wanted to think of doa as a sanctuary for like minded people to share and learn regardless of skill level and sculpt preference and to hear that it hasn't been that way for others is disheartening.

It just bums me out but I'm going to try and spread some good cheer when I can.

    8. I'm annoyed by face-ups that look nothing like the company photos! I understand that different people do the face-ups so to expect subtle differences, but sometimes they look nothing at all like the photos. And there's no recourse. Aghhh!

    9. Sold-out dolls and no way to filter them out. I hate it when I'm happily shopping away online and... oh, everything on this page is unbelievable and now I'm in love with half of them.

    10. This is a mild pet peeve, but lately it has been bugging me a little. When I do a transaction in the market I'm pretty careful after to give the person their due by way of feedback because I do realize that people who come after me will look to see if the person they want to do business with has a decent amount of feedback and has some recent feedback most likely. Very rarely do I skip it. I'm too cautious, but if I do, well, it's because I wasn't actually too happy with something that happened, but I actually got my stuff regardless, and I don't want to have to be too negative. I reserve really bad feedback for people who deserve it. If I have any real doubt as to whether it's deserved I usually refrain from comment.

Quite frequently I'll do a deal and everything will go fine. I'll leave feedback, but the person I've been dealing with never does. I even do it even when I've dealt with that person several times because I want that person to know how much I appreciate them being so nice and having a good transaction again with them again. I can't tell you how many times though I've not gotten any feedback in return. No acknowledgement whatsoever that the transaction was a good one and that the buyer/seller was happy. When I first first got on DOA I think people were a bit better about doing it. Lately though it seems like most of the people I deal with just can't be bothered at all.

As a newbie I really depended a lot on the feedback section. I still do look, every time, before I buy or swap with. I think we all need to remember that and make an effort to do it more. I know it gets tedious writing it. I sometimes have a hard time knowing what to say myself but I still want to give good sellers/buyers their due anyway. The system is there for a reason and it bothers me a bit that so many people ignore it.

Oh, and one more thing, people who take more than a week to get back to you on an inquiry. A few days I can understand, people have lives, have to work, but I've had people not get back to me for weeks, once nearly for a month and yet by the time they do they question why I don't want whatever it is they're selling. I've only missed getting a PM inquiry once and that was because I had the flu really bad and so did my Dad and neither one of us was up to being online for quite a while. I'm on DOA most days, but I never go more than a few days max, if I have stuff up for trade or whatever.

News flash, if someone doesn't answer me within a week I'm not very likely to buy from them no matter how much I want what they're selling. Why? Because if they have a tendency to be gone from here for a very long time, likely I'm going to end up having to wait forever for my stuff to be shipped too. It's just common sense really. I figure if they too busy to hang here for a bit they're probably too busy to hit a PO in a decent amount of time too.

So far most of my experiences on the market have been positive but there have been a few now that have made me slightly uneasy. I've had a couple of things happen that have me wondering what some people are up to. I'm a lot more careful now to insist upon tracking things than I used to be. Unless I know the person pretty well or it's petty cash, like amounts under $12 I usually do use Priority Mail these days. I do look at the feedback though, every time. If the person has nothing and/or nothing fairly recent? I'm not near as likely to go there...

    11. I realize I should probably go to the mods with this but I have yet to find a feedback thread or something similar to post in regarding the changes in the Marketplace thread forms. If anyone can direct me to such a place, please do. Anyway, my peeves about the new Marketplace: as far as I can see when I open the submission form, all the info that used to be mandatory to fill in still is as far as I can see, yet I keep clicking on threads about interesting dolls only to find they're WTB threads after I open them because there's no WTB prefix on the thread and due to the max price being in the title now it looks exactly like a FS thread (very glad you have to list your max price now btw, that does make things a lot clearer). Also often people have hardly any payment info listed anymore apart from the price, not even if they ship internationally or not, let alone anything else, even though on the submission form I see those things are still marked as mandatory. So people will have go ask the seller about it, giving them more PMs to deal with and since more and more mostly US people decide not to ship internationally anymore, for people in other countries, like me, that increases the likelyhood that they go bother people and get their hopes up for nothing.

    12. 1. The high price of BJD's. I'd prefer them to be casted in ABS just to bring the price down, but they don't and continue to cast them in resin.
      2. Loveliest dolls are often limited editions. And then the non-limited dolls of the company weren't great.
      3. Difficulty of putting on wigs and certain clothes. So difficult, for some reason.

[/ quote]

I totally agree with you, I hate links to sites where I can not access

    14. I have no experience here, it's all about Russian site (I'm sure, that it's all about Marketplace of this forum too).
Hate when seller marks theme "urgently" and set such a crazy price like he/she is going to stay with doll forever. The question is, why she writes about the urgency? Urgency is a hint of discounts (less often hint that lot may be withdrawn from sale later), a buyer is not interested in other aspects of life of a seller.

    15. I will never, ever understand why someone would post something for sale, and then not communicate with someone who is actually willing to BUY it. If it's already been sold, at least have the decency to tell the person it's no longer available, but when it is available and one just ceases all form of contact for no reason? I just...I don't understand it. Is my money not good enough for some people?

    16. Just when websites don't work correctly and the difficulty of making payment such as when you have to send via paypal rather than on the website. Waiting for the amount to be manually updated by the company leaves me nervous that my payment hasn't gone through properly or a mistake will be made.

    17. Oooh a rant thread. :)

My pet peeves about the hobby are:

      1) Crazy jacked up prices in the secondary market for dolls that are clearly yellowed, damaged, or have horrid faceups done in sharpie or other permanent media that I'm going to have to take extreme measures to get rid of. I love a good fixer-upper, but for handyman-special dolls, I expect handyman-special prices.
      2) Pictures of dolls with one eye crossed (without it being part of the character). That just triggers something OCD in me.
      3) When dolls pose beautifully, except for ONE joint that just keeps snapping back.
      4) The time it takes between ordering a doll and getting a doll.... because I never seem to want the ones that US sellers have in stock already.
      5) And of course the overall expense. Some of my favorite sculpts are just ridiculously expensive.

    18. Not really one to comment .... but:
      1. people settling for any doll that resembles their favourite anime character, only to want another character after. I mean, by all means go ahead, but stick to it at least or saying you're sick and tired of this current character, and that he's boring. Might as well make your own character sometimes so you'll never get bored of it.
      2. badly positioned eyeballs. It's fine if it's done on purpose to show a certain expression, but sometimes crossed-eyed dolls just make me feel like the owner doesn't really care?
      3. Same for messy/badly-styled wigs. @__@ I'm quite a picky person wow slap me hard.
      4. EXPENSIVE. WHYY ARE MY FAVOURITE ONES ALWAYS THE PRICIEST >< Can't complain much.... you get what you pay for...

    19. Being so darn dependent on exchange rates. We pay 20% or more extra as it is (import taxes and customs fees), with the dollar value going up and up we'll soon be paying double. :ablah:

    20. People who presume to understand how a complete stranger enjoys their dolls.

For instance, the comment earlier here of "wanting a doll, only to want another one." I fail to see how someone wanting more than one doll, no matter what the character origin might be (fan character, OC, or just wanting a pretty doll to build a character around) is either rant-worthy or anyone else's business at all. I can't recall if I've seen it in this thread specifically, but judging someone for wanting a particular sculpt "just because it's popular" is another one that annoys me. Or saying someone wants a doll from a specific company "just because it's cheap" or "just because it's a status thing." Or someone trashing a company because they don't like one thing about it, and in turn criticizing those who buy from that company. I could go on, but I think the point is made. No one else has a right to judge how an individual enjoys the hobby, whether it be having one very popular sculpt that they dote on, or a huge family of characters they adore equally.

People who can't do a little homework.

This goes for everyone posting a thread in entirely the wrong subforum here (sorry, just because it's called "General Discussion" doesn't mean literally everything goes here), posting a thread asking a question that's answered very well in a forum sticky, posting a reply to a thread that has nothing at all to do with the topic, etc. It's really easy to find the correct place to post a thread, it's much faster to read and find an existing answer than to wait for someone to come along and spoon-feed it to you, and if all you're doing is posting nonsense to get to the Marketplace, I honestly hope no one will ever sell to you for pulling such an obvious play for access.

      And a little different...
The shortage of basic clothes for boys!

Seriously, companies, what's so hard about a few basics for guys that aren't over-the-top punk, ridiculously goth, or just plain effeminate? I'd like a little more than a couple of button-down shirts and a borderline sweater, please!
