1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. I am 100% with Khell on this. Recasting is art theft pure and simple as well as ripping off unaware buyers. It needs to be discussed to educate people and prevent it happening. Burying your head in the sand and ignoring it won't make it go away. If you ignore something illegal it is like you condone the behavior. There is a reason DoA is anti recast and that is because it is a crime.

My rant is similar to a few other peoples. I hate the exchange rate with the Aussie dollar compared to the US dollar. It makes things so much more expensive.

    2. Both of these. But I have to say as a Canadian that I am retrospectively Consumed With Annoyance when I remember that I bought Nothing internationally when the CAD was at parity with the USD. :doh

    3. Agreeing with the 'why is my currency doing so badly atm' rants. Yikes, but the pound is weak to the dollar right now. I just bought a doll for the same price I paid in January and it cost me £7 more. Thanks, exchange rate!! ;__;

    4. That is annoying. But I remember a friend telling me once Dollheart was closing as far as I'm aware.. At least their store for some time. He dropped a lot f money there..

    5. I knew the euro was reaching parity but the pound too? >>; what happened while I was under a rock?

As for myself...I found a doll that I wanted to buy and immediately put around 200~ dollars off to the side to save for it- then one of those unexpected life moments popped up and there went the money to pay for it. orz

    6. Yay, rants. Ok here goes:
-doing a face up or body blush at night in the most lit room and then seeing it the next day in natural light and realizing it's terrible. This happens to me all the time.
-trying to find shoes that fit my MSD girl that fit. I have to know the size of the insole and the width. Her feet are so small.
-explaining to people why dolls are anatomically correct. "No, it's not pornographic. No,they're not sex dolls. Yes, sex dolls are real"
-getting excited and having no one around to tell. My poor husband takes the most of that.
-when people treat older, yellowed dolls like garbage. Nothing lasts forever, all resin mellows eventually.
-bjd confession blogs. If you can't say it to their face, don't say it all.
-feeling guilty about spending so much money on the hobby. I can't always afford to get what I want, and when I can I don't always enjoy it I feel so bad about the expense.

    7. This is an issue of lighting quality. If you're just using standard bulbs, they give off a yellowish, "warm" light. Natural light is a bluish, "cool" light, so what looks good under artificial light often doesn't look right under natural light. That's why I do all my blushing under daylight-spectrum bulbs, whatever time of day I'm working on it. If something looks good under the harsh daylight bulb, it generally looks great under less harsh natural lighting.

And ranting again... so the company I've been having issues with finally got back to me, and in their first message basically said "You should just order [completely different sculpt], that sounds like it is what you want!" :doh Ugh, no, I get that there's translation issues sometimes, but I definitely don't want [completely different sculpt], I was just using it as a point of reference of "this configuration of optional parts." The second message from them was kind of vague, but I'm hoping I'm done ranting at them and they're finally starting to understand what I'm asking... Why can't we all just speak Common like they do in fantasy novels?

    8. -When you see a pair of glass eyes online and in the picture they look great, you buy them and when they arrive the pupils are different sizes. Now your doll looks like O_o.
-When you buy a wig and you put it on your doll only to realize that you can see the wig cap right through the hair.
-When you wait at home for a package you're expecting and the postman doesn't bother knocking, but instead leaves you an orange "sorry we missed you" slip in your mailbox

    9. New to the hobby, but I'm not used to pictures of sold out/discontinued items in shops. I fell in love twice hunting for my first doll before catching on and checking the availability of a sculpt first.

    10. When the 'sold out' notification on doll websites are teeny tiny and get my hopes up before I scroll up and BAM little red sticker dashing my dreams. Surely it wouldn't hurt to make it more noticeable that a doll or an outfit is sold out so I don't go a-clicking thinking it's ripe for the buying.

    11. I have a few

      -seamlines
-the secondhand pricing of Fairyland parts (seriously...whyy?)
-doll heads that are between sizes so wigs are always loose

    12. -When a company only takes PayPal >:(
-When you find a rude bjd meet and they ignore you :/
-sold out dolls you really want

    13. Just a little annoyance, if that, but having to wait 3+ months for a pair of teeny tiny hands. Nothing else in the order, just a pair of hands. xP

    14. When You inquire about an item on a sales thread and the person ignores you completely and sells it to someone else. In the end, they tell you it's because they didn't even see your question or you posted it in the wrong thread. I'm like WTF? Don't give me that bull coz the system lets you see EVERY question you have ever received. And if I posted in the wrong thread, couldn't you have told me so I can "post it right?"

    15. This is a problem I'm currently having. Most of my dream dolls are SD13, but my current (first) doll is an MSD. I also really like the Limwha Mono boy, who's also MSD-sized. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably have a mixed-size doll family in the future, though! At least it won't be boring.
Oh, also: yellowing. It's been named before and I can only agree, yellowing is my number one fear for my first BJD >.< She's gorgeous, but I'm so scared she'll turn all yellow and weird!

    16. I might post this sooner or later in the workshop section. But I feel like letting off some steam, so here it goes... I've removed my first boy's faceup a couple of months ago. And, as a newbie, tried my luck on doing my own. Tried... and failed... tried again, quite a few times. Used only safe materials from what I've read. Winsor and Newton brush cleaner. Mr. Super clear. Water. But I might have been working under a desktop lamp. Not directly under the lamp, not so close that it should melt his face. Another thing is, I honestly do not remember any more whether I might have held the head under a blow drier (low temp) for a couple of seconds at one point. I don't know anymore! Anyhow, one corner of his mouth looks like it literally dropped down, still the edges are clearly defined and I have NO idea what happened. Has his head always been this way, only covered up by the factory faceup? Was it me? Sorry for the rambling I am just so annoyed by his mouth which has caused me, among other factors, to mess up his faceup again and again. Till recently, when I finally managed to finish one I feel okay with. I'm going to share some pictures in the critique section but next time, I will definitely have to sand him. Still loving him though :XD:!

    17. I have the same sizing problem. It's making me seriously rethink reshelling my two current cloth OTs. I found the right sculpt for both, but they're so ridiculously different in size that it'll never work.

Don't worry too much about yellowing. One of my dolls is about nine years old (I'm her third owner) and although she's not the same shade as she was new, she's still a beautiful and very realistic peachy tone. She hasn't been out in the sun for hours on end, but she hasn't been kept in a dark cabinet the whole time, either. And my one white skin doll is even prettier now that she's turned more ivory.

    18. There are some companies who will paint a smile where none exists. ;) if the resin is still crisp looking then I'd say it hasn't been melted. As resin cures it generates a lot of heat, to the point where you can burn yourself if you touch it. So most of the time it's pretty difficult to melt. Some resin may be affected by being soaked in the W&N brush cleaner. I always use a few drops of W&N on a stiff brush to remove the old face up, just to be on the safe side.

Personal rant. . . it took me five tries to get the face on the latest guy to my liking! FIVE!!! :doh The most it usually takes is two. . . I have no idea why he was so determined to drive me nuts. Sheesh. *_*

    19. It's very comforting to know I'm not alone trying again and again. And when I read people finally get the looks they wanted, I'm able to see a silver lining on the horizon myself. It's awesome to have people I can admire for their works and learn from. I always enjoy working on faceups, even if I don't succeed it was fun. Oops, this is supposed to be a ranting thread and I'm not ranting. Well, I guess it worked! About the W&N, I never soaked a face in it so what I am suspecting is, that the head itself might be a little flawed (the original mold seems to be quite symmetrical). Thank you xtal for cheering me up!

    20. Having just gotten into the hobby the most annoying thing right now is the fact that getting (and painting) my first head has sparked an obsession that's resulted in a wishlist of over twenty different sculpts, plans for at least two siblings for my first doll (not to mention friends, enemies, and partners), various Taobao sprees, and a desperation to paint every single head I can get my grubby paws on :?
