1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. I think what annoys me most is the fact that so many MSD's are so childish looking. I'd rather be able to make adult-looking MSD's with adult-type bodies and features so that all my dolls can be roughly the same size. Not just for the aesthetics of it, but because of the limited space I have for my dolls in the first place.

    2. ^ That annoys me too! Especially with anthros. For the most part, anthro BJDs I see have chubby child bodies. There are a few exceptions, and those are the ones I've been eyeing, but generally they're mostly on child bodies. Also, most of the adult bodied anthros I've seen don't have animal sets of hands and feet as an option to be included with them, just the human hands and feet.

    3. Go to DearMine for adult anthros in MSD size. beautiful sculpts, great quality resin but I'm biased as I have one.

I'm also jumping on the boat for the less than mature look of so many MSD sized dolls as well as tinies. They're super hard to find in tiny size and now that Lume is discontinuing their entire Light line (30cm), there's even fewer of them around.

    4. Finding out that the doll you're planning is difficult to find clothes for. -sigh-

    5. When you search forever to find the perfect wig and you finally find it and buy it and then the seller contacts you 2 days later to say sorry it's out of stock.

wtf if it's out of stock why the flip do you still have it listed as 6 available asdfghjkl *grumpy face*

    6. Those are most certainly the ones I've been eyeing for my first doll :) Though I've been eyeing Pipos Minuet as well.

    7. The thing annoying me the most right now is placing an order for some very expensive shoes, selecting the right shipping zone, paying the total amount given by the company's website. The day after I get a shipping notice with a tracking number. One and a half week later I start to wonder where the package is. I try to track it. Nothing shows up. I try to track it at the senders country's post. Nothing. Hm.. wierd...

I sign in to my store account and notices that the total for the order has suddenly changed and that a teeny tiny little notice about "unpaid: X$" has appeared at the very bottom of the order sheet. I contact the company and is told "you ordered items for X$, you only paid X$ so we lack X$!"...

Well that's just splendid isn't it? I don't mind to pay for my shipping costs but would it have hurt said company terribly to, I don't know, send an e-mail and tell me about the error in calculating shipping costs so I could pay it right away instead of sending me a "fake" shipping notice with a tracking number for a package that has not been sent? :doh

Other than that there's not much annoying me about the hobby right now and I'm very happy from bringing one of my dolls to the local "plastic model" gathering I'm part of and having my kit building friends (who are not doll collectors) being very kind, interested and appreciating my doll :)

    8. That happened to me with clothes, they were nice about it so I'm not mad at them. I'm just sad that I can't get it anymore rather than annoyed.

    9. Something that annoys me is dolls that are not sturdy. I don't look for poseability, but I want my dolls to be able to sit with knees bent or straight and stand and be sturdy. My SD13 and EID boys are like rocks and most of my other ones are very respectable in that regard too however my Dollshe Saint and my Resinsoul Song are like two cups of half liquified jello during an earthquake >_<

    10. My biggest problem with all my dolls, no matter how small or big they are, from tinies up to 70cms, is pants and eyes. Example, even if it says on the site that the size is for regular MSDs (meaning they should fit a bit loose on my slim minis) they're still too tight. So tight I can't even button them. I'm always in search for baggier pants.
Eyes. I have a mountain of eyes I can never use. It's so hard to find ones that are really low dome. Most of my dolls would benefit from having almost flat eyes. And when I finally found a seller on etsy who makes eyes like that, they don't make them in the size I need. I might try to plea for them making me custom eyes. Or perhaps it's time for me to try making my own.

    11. If you want flat eyes in a staggering range of sizes and colours and the option to have custom designs for a price that makes your wallet very happy, go to Dreaming Tree Studio. Several of my dolls wear her eyes and they're really lovely.

As for standing, that drives me nuts with some of my dolls. It really makes me bonkers when I pay a good bit of hard-earned money for a doll and it is gorgeous and I love how it looks and... I'm stuck with the Collapse O-matic Knees of Doom (tm). Re-stringing, sueding, wiring, praying daily to the dolly gods... nothing seems to help. My SD Leeke boy (my most expensive doll) is tricky to stand because of this very thing and I wouldn't trust him standing alone. My DZ SD boy does the same thing, too. I do have dolls that stand like rocks and funny enough, they're some of the less expensive dolls I own.

I was also super irritated that Leeke hot glued the eyes in my SD. It was a total PITA and very nerve-wracking to get the eyes out as he has a limited face-up and I was afraid of somehow damaging the face-up as I was digging the glue out. The only casualty were his eyelashes (thank god), which I had to re-install, but honestly, there's no good reason for hot gluing eyes in. That kinda defeats the purpose of having a FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE doll.

    12. HOT-GLUED EYES. YES. The worst was my Suzuna. Tiny head, small eyes, and I was so frightened of wrecking her face-up.

I'm also very frustrated at the lack of glass eyes with black irises. They are out there, but they are a rarity and I need low domes. =n= There's no shortage of beautiful vivid colors for glass eyes, but occasionally one does need deep, empty, soulless black. XD

Ooh, that's another gripe--eye listings that don't give any indication of dome heights. I've been so cross in the past by finding the perfect eyes, ordering them, and then discovering that they just won't fit in the head without major gapping because the domes are so high!

    13. I have to add exchange rates to this just like many before me have done. I just did my math on how much things have changed. Two years ago I purchased a doll, paying 654$ including shipping which at that time equalled 4420 SEK. If I were to purchase that same doll today he would still cost 654$ including shipping but with the current exchange rate I would be paying 6020 SEK. So what does that mean if we recalculate the difference to USD? Well... it means that I'll be paying 175$ more due to exchange rates if I were to buy him today. Ouch....

    14. Yeah on the exchange rates and Customs fees. I hate having to plan for extra cash to cover the exchange/Customs (sometimes as much as an additional $200 depending on the doll). I realize the exchange/Customs fees are not the fault of the doll company, but when your currency is sucking compared to the US dollar, it's not fun trying to save beyond what the doll actually costs on the site.

I also have a serious hate on for when Customs charges me fees on a doll I already own that I've sent out for a face-up/mods. I don't like paying Customs on a new doll (who does?) but it smacks of double-dipping to me to hit me again when a doll is being returned to me. I have zero skills to paint dolls and the same amount of talent when it comes to modding resin. Unfortunately for me, the artists who's style I like best and who I trust to do the work live in the US. I absolutely refuse to ship a doll (or doll parts) without proper insurance and Canada Customs has nailed me more than once when a doll has come back, basing their "fees" on the insured value of the package.

I could go through their system to try and get the fees back but the burden of proof is on me, they can take months to reach a decision and should they decide that my proof isn't enough proof (and it seems very arbitrary), they deny the claim and there's zero recourse beyond that for me.

    15. This recent trend of people tagging their make-up selfies with #bjd or outright #balljointeddoll.

What even? Just no. No. Get out.

    16. That there are no till almost not, cute girly shoes for SD 1/3 boys ;=; and when I look up for cute shoes for SD 1/3 girls, they mostly always are too small for my boy :c.

    17. I second the lack of mature MSDs! Especially guys. I'm super picky about male dolls.
Also the exchange rate T.T I live in Canada and our dollar is not doing very well at the moment, especially vs US dollars.

    18. Fused fingers! :roar I know some poses are next to impossible to cast without getting the fingers fused, and considering how much of a pain it is to separate them I completely understand why companies just leave them as they are. And yes, they're moddable ... which is precisely why my own fingers hurt now :( I need a jeweller's saw, yes precious. Sandpaper + craft knife + fused doll fingers = not fun.

    19. Pretty much all of this... Usually I do my mods within Europe for this reason, but although I've had impeccable service from my customizer the last job we did together didn't go too well so I had to send the doll out to be restored and faceuped by an artist in the US... and what would you know... customs on its way back. I still haven't received him as he's in transit to me but ugh. I know it can't be more than 1/4th of the total price but even so... Paying so much to get the head, mod it once, receive it, ship it off, mod it twice, faceup it AND get hit by customs is just... ughhhh frustrating.

    20. I have a new rant... it's a minor one, but it's been driving me nuts lately, and it's the Luts ad banner showing just the mouth and hand of their yawning tiny. I end up yawning every single time I see it; it's become my most dreaded ad to spot at the top of a page. :|
