1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. Jany I agree about fused fingers. They annoy me as they don't look right and I like putting rings on some of my dolls too. I have not yet tries separating them but may do in the future.
Osaka I didn't know any company would be silly enough to glue eyes in! Why why why would they do that? I would be very annoyed too.

    2. What really bothers me in the doll hobby is companies or websites that sell dolls or clothes and only show one picture of the item they're selling. How hard would it be to take three, four photos from different angles so I actually know what I'm buying? Especially when it's an entire BJD of which they show only one picture where the face is partially obscured. What the hay? Why?

    3. my only huge pet peeve is how.....petty and judgmental people can be...Especially on the tumblr confession blogs. Ugh its like swallowing poison to read them! I actually don't check bjd tags because those posts always pop up and I hate to see them.

    4. THIS. More generally, bad sales pics from companies. I understand not everyone is a good photographer or wants to spend money on a camera, but if you're running a business, you NEED someone who knows what they're doing. If you can't even make your product look good, I'm assuming it's even worse in person.

    5. Channels that aren't drilled well and that make stringing a doll really, really hard as a result. I had major problems with that the other day. Most of it went fine but this one arm hole it was a royal you know what because there was some resin down in the channel and the string couldn't move around it very well. I ended up hacking it out with a screwdriver but it took forever and made stringing that doll a miserable experience.

    6. People being offended by doll nudity, even when it is a yosd with no distinctive features whatsoever.

    7. People who give me dirty looks whenever I bring my doll along with me. They need to not be so judgmental.

    8. "I made this doll to look Native! Can you look over the outfit and see if there are any bad errors?"
"Which tribe is the doll supposed to be from?"
"What do you mean? Native American."
"That's not a tribe. That's a generalization of an ethic group. Each tribe has different customs and regalia and traditions. Looking at your doll, I can see a mix of at least three different geographic areas represented, which would not happen in their regalia."
"I don't even know what that means. Nevermind. She looks Native enough! LOL!"

Really am tired of people doing this with my culture, especially when they ask me for my help but do not really want my help but only for me to praise them for their attempt at making a "Native American".

    9. O.o..... that is crazy! Why even ask for your help then? I love native american stuff but have no clue about the differences between each tribe.... so I'd definitely be looking up stuff online or asking someone for help before I even ventured into making something... but doing that? That is just obnoxious. I know one thing at least... I read somewhere that females arent supposed to wear the big feather crown thing (sorry, totally blanking on what it is called).... it's the chiefs head piece.

    10. I think some people are taken in by the Hollywood stereotype of what a Native American looks like/wears and that may be what they're asking for. They want the braided black hair, fancy buckskin leggings, beadwork moccasins, feathered headress, hornpipe breastplate and possibly/probably some sort of warpaint that "looks cool". The... generic Hollywood Native if you will. That doesn't excuse what they said/did but that could very well be where they're coming from. Hollywood/fictional noble savage bs and all that. And for the record, I am Native as well although I've never been asked anything like that.

    11. This. Never rely on the stereotype if you want the character. He/she will be so much more if you take the time to do the research. And you won't look like a maroon. :)

Although, strangely enough, one of my new characters is a nature spirit from the Western NY area who was well-acquainted with the Five Nations and in particular the Haudenosaunee. I haven't gotten more specific than that because I'm still researching. I'm trying not to get anything wrong.....

    12. Stringing a doll nice and tight and coming back a week or two later only to find the cord has loosened and I have a floppy doll. I have yet to find a shock cord that does not do that loosen up some over time.

    13. Getting fingers pinched by your doll's joints :pout:

    14. Sellers selling dolls that arrive and look nothing like the sales pictures due to the excessive amount of photoshop and then you have to go into all the trouble to request a partial refund yet you'll most likely get targeted by the seller's friends/following and accused of being an irrational, nitpicky person... -__- no. When I hand someone a sum of money that i deemed their doll was worth I'm expecting the doll to be as described, please and thank you.

    15. I was looking at shoes on a site last night and it listed sizes as Small, Medium and Large. No other measurements or explanations. The failure in general to be clear on the sizes of shoes, wigs, etc.
When I was more of a newbie I bought a pair of shoes for my 62cm Tumnus, which were listed simply as SD shoes. They turned out to be made for a 70cm doll and were much too large.

    16. Tracking not updating over the weekend on a doll I've waited months for....I would really like to know if the 'estimated date of arrival' is just a guess or for real! I'm better off just ignoring it, yeah, who am I kidding!

I am also frustrated by the lack of detailed measurements for clothing and shoes. Even if I had an endless supply of money to find items that fit, I still don't want a bunch of unwearable stuff to try and get rid of.

    17. As lots of people have already said, lack of detailed measurements. I can't tell you how many pieces of clothing I've seen listed as "SD size" with no other information.
Also, stores that take a long time to ship out your order with no warning. If it's going to take 2 weeks to mail me my stuff, I need to know that before I make an order. What if I wanted it for a meetup of something?

    18. I'm whiter than mayonnaise, and I still get PO'ed at the people who think a "Generokee" outfit is OK. To continue insisting that your outfit is ok after a genuine Native has called you out on it? Yeah, that's really, really racist.

    19. I'm doing even worse over here... the tracking for my doll (who's been a relatively short wait, thankfully) just updated... in not only the wrong state, but on the wrong side of the country.

    20. Fed Ex once told me that a package (doll-related) was "undeliverable" and had already been returned to the sender when in fact it had been handed over to the USPS for delivery. (They do that - I get a lot of things from Amazon via Smartpost.) Why the HECK couldn't the CSR have told me that and saved me a minor heart attack?

The happy ending was the doll was at my PO when I went to get the mail and it was love at first sight. :)
