1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. Please keep in mind that everyone enjoys the hobby in their own way. There is not right or wrong way and you don't know anything about these people that irritate you, other than that they can apparently buy dolls more often than you.

I am one of these people and I certainly don't have money to just throw around. But when I see a doll I love, I try to jump on it, sometimes with the help of layaway. And when I receive a doll and don't like it straight out of the box, that happens. And I know that I won't start liking it either. I know this from experience. I could have liked the doll when I ordered it, but it happens so often that dolls look nothing like the company photos.
I have managed to get a lot of different dolls over the past seven or so years. Because I am a flip flop collector. I buy, I enjoy, I move on and I sell. And then I buy again. This is the way I like to enjoy this hobby and I'm sorry that irritates you.

    2. It annoys me so much the fact that I purchased a doll from Iplehouse and 2 days later they offered a very good discount on some dolls, including the doll I ordered >_> I could have saved $50 there.

      Another thing that annoys me is when things I want to get rid of don't get sold...=_= please someone take all that stuff away from me!!! ;__;

Rounded hips on guys....it looks feminine and I don't like it.

This is a love/hate relationship: black clothes/shoes! I love black but they always stain my dolls and yet, I keep getting black items >_<

When I have finished a face up, looks perfect but I make a mistake at the last minute Grrrr it makes want to kick myself.

People who complain about other people and their dolls. Everyone is different and everyone enjoys the hobby their own way.

    3. 1. When a doll has an estimated arrival date of over six months, and that comes and goes, and a few more months go by with zero communication from the dealer.

      2. When people say "sorry for the lousy picture" but post it anyways.

      3. Sellers who want buyers to pay their Paypal fees

    4. When you're sewing something for your doll, and everything's turning out perfect, but you accidentally sew something on backwards. :(

Maybe I inherited this from my mom, we both do it.. but there is nothing as frustrating as having to rip out the seams to redo it, especially when it was all rainbows and sunshine up until that point!

    5. You definitely are not alone with this I do it too lol

    6. Oh, you and I are the same. When I have money, I buy a doll I like. Sometimes it stays, sometimes it doesn't! But I get to enjoy a wide variety of dolls for a small time. It drives my doll friends nuts. (Not really.)

I also can't fix hair well or take photos well. But I have fun!

What irritates me is that I want to learn so many things at once, I can't get them all. This hobby has so many facets. :)

    7. I'm not a fan of pupil-less eyes, or eyes with pupils that aren't black. I do wish more companies would have separate sections for those.

    8. Hmmm Pet peeves...

I'd have to say mine are ones that I seem to share with many memebers. I am annoyed by those that charge paypal fees when it is clearly against ToS.

I also get pretty annoyed when I find a perfect doll sculpt...only for it to be the wrong size. I am especially having this problem with a character of mine I want to shell. The woes of trying to shell out a chracter that's a shorty XD

Also, recasts in general, people that support them, and people that defend them. Like...how can you support that!?

    9. The PP fees bug me but more from PP than the seller. PP allows fees in some countries but not others and this can (and does) create problems when people buy across borders. You'd think that a company which KNOWS that buyers from across the world use their service would have one standard across the board for something like charging fees. Either everybody should be allowed to do it or nobody should be allowed to do it.

Ahhh, the perfect sculpt in the absolutely wrong size. Story of my collecting life *rolls eyes*. I've recently come to the conclusion that I need to switch sculpts for a character and in doing that, need to also switch the sculpt for his partner (they were both short SD's). I've found the right new sculpts... but they're in the completely wrong size (I need 60cm and they're 72cm) *sigh*.

    10. Recasts, recast buyers and recast defenders annoy the heck out of me. But what really makes me angry with the burning fury of a thousand suns is when a recaster advertises their crap using the name of the original sculptor! Seriously? How low can you go?

    11. It's reached the point that, as a tiny collector, I need to force myself to go into "well, isn't that interesting" mode when I look under Company News here--a lot of cuties in MSD sizes, but I go for YoSD or even Pukifee size, so I try not to let myself get too attached, just in case I get to the size data and see "45 cm."

As for newbs who want a recast "because legit BJDs are so expensive," there are mass-produced dolls with the same aesthetic and articulation--even non-resin BJDs! Just get a Hujoo or something; it's still cheaper than most recasts, without actually being a bootleg doll.

    12. 1. Extremely long waiting time and no/less communication. I'd waited one of my dolls once for 7-8 months because of the errors on company. That made me really disappointed.
      2. Nude dolls...For selling/resin comparing or artistic photos are fine. But more than these...I just can't like them.
      3. PP fee! I think this PP fee should be included in the selling price from the beginning and sellers should no more asking for additional fee.

    13. I hate "+paypal fees" ...Really? If you're going to add fees then do the math your frickin' self and add it to your already existing asking price so that we don't even know about it!!!! Figuring out your own expenses and not putting off buyers is part of "business etiquette!"

But I honestly think nothing peeves me more than ball jointed dolls that can't hold a pose or stand on its own!! Everybody but everybody recommends Resinsoul/Bobobie dolls - NO. Just no.
There are so many "less expensive" companies that make FAR BETTER dolls than RS/BBB dolls, I've had them and I've had price-range comparisons that didn't require all the extra work that RS/BBB dolls do just to make them function the way they are supposed to. Because this hobby is known for its outrageous ticket prices, everyone takes dolls in the $100-$200 price-range with a grain of salt. But that is still expensive for a fricking doll! IT DARN WELL BETTER HANDLE THE ARTICULATION AND BALANCE THAT WE'RE PAYING FOR!!

I hate dolls with their eyes practically rolled up into their heads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO LOOKS LIKE THAT????????????? NOBODY!!!!!!!!
I've talked to people who've said "Oh, well, I took a class where I was told that the iris of the eye doesn't touch the bottom lid, so eyes in art/on a doll should look just as realistic".... REALISTIC??? So, when you look at people you see us all walking around with our eyes halfway rolled up into our heads??????
I'm sorry, I look at people all the time and YES THE IRIS DOES TOUCH THE LOWER LID!!!

    14. ^The iris touching the lower lid is not a problem for dolls with 100% realistic eye shapes because human eyes are generally small unlike the majority of BJDs whose eyes are so big, especially the stylized sculpts, that it looks better when the iris is not touching the lower lid because the pupil should touch the upper lid or else, it will look like the doll is forever scared or in a state of shock.

    15. People who ask how much money you spend on dolls, or comment on it assuming "you must be so rich omg". Also, asking people how they afford dolls. It's so bloody annoying. The perfect sculpt in the wrong size, wigs not fitting properly, the perfect sculpt without the right colour option (come on, DC, I need a tan option!) and of course the waiting time but it's understandable and something I'm more than amenable to dealing with.

    16. OMG THIS SO MUCH!
Yeah...it's annoying coz people around me travel and like to eat out. I just hear them talk about FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD. I don't do ANY of that stuff. All my hard-earned money I SAVE so I can buy dolls. They're like, "Oh you must be rich! Why don't you travel?" And I'm like "Because I don't want to! It's my choice!"

    17. things I ain't to fond of:
      1. the lack of plus sized sculpts
      2. the lack of ethnically diverse sculpts (I know they exist, there just isn't many of them)
      3. the seemingly millions of pastel-y rainbow-y gay boys (it honestly just seems like bad writing, and bad character design and is really fetishistic of gay men)
      4. the seeming obsession with "cr*zy" characters (also usually feels like bad writing, especially when written by non-mad/mentally ill people)
      5. the high-and-mighty attitude that seems to come with many communitie
      6. the iffy results that can come out of certian resin colours.
      7. resin matching when frankenstein-ing a doll

I got plenty more but cant think of a good way to articulate it...

    18. This is not always a matter of "laziness." When I run group orders, I will specify that certain things will be "(price) + paypal fees" because, for one, in a group order I am under no obligation to swallow the fees from everyone's orders, and for two, the final fee will vary depending on what the order total was for each person. Similarly, I'll list shipping costs in all sales as "+ paypal fees," because again, I'm under no obligation to eat those fees, and again, the final total will vary depending on weight and options chosen. Like many, I'll work it out for the buyer, invoice them properly, and even give them an estimate if requested.

Asking for paypal fees on an item being sold is poor etiquette, I'll agree, but adding "+ paypal fees" in itself is not always the same case, and may often be justified.

    19. ... or sellers could just ask a fixed price for their dolls and other items that already includes paypal fees plus shipping and only covers a certain kind of shipping. So that the buyer immediately knows what the total price will be. (Of course, if the buyer wants super-expensive express-shipping, they'd still have to pay extra). I don't know about other countries but here in Germany, you can actually look up international shipping fees online, on our postal service's website ...

    20. Now that I have a doll, I have one thing that is driving me all the way up and down the wall...
-EYE PLACEMENT. Now that I changed her eyes out, I cannot stop tweaking them...
