1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

1. What really annoys me is people being like: ''ah that's a cool doll!''
*while I am dodging their greedy hands towards her face-up*
'' What kind of a doll is that? ''
*starts explaining*
after a few seconds ''ah yeah I know- how much do they go for?
THAT much?!?!?
nahh they're not worth it.''

I really love my dolls and hearing that she isn't worth something.. not only money, but I've put lots of effort in her as well.
It really hurts when people say she's not '' worth it ''.

2. I usually quote a round figure for domestic shipping and give out specific quotes for international, and I inevitably lowball myself because the idea of overcharging for shipping is, well, a pet peeve of mine. I'd rather eat the extra if it turns out I was wrong. (USPS.com quotes a lower price than the post office itself gives out, because you can buy your postage online and just slap it on the package and save yourself some $$ -- but I have no printer so I have to get my postage at the PO. So I usually quote the USPS.com cost and eat whatever the extra is.)

Rant ahoy:

PACKING. Trying to figure out how to pack my girl for vacation is a pain in the ass. I hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE carryon restrictions. Especially on puddlejumper flights.

3. While I agree with some of what you both have said, if someone selling an item or dolls doesnt have the packing materials on hand or a scale, it is really hard to know what shipping is going to be for said item. Especially depending on where it is going.... so the few times I've mailed things (from splits/GOs), I've gone to the PO and checked ALL shipping options with the packages after they were packaged at the PO (Mostly small flat rate shipping box so this is the easiest to figure out the price for and didnt really involve me having to weigh said items or mess with the comp). I've only ever had to fiddle with the weight machine a couple of times when I mailed things in boxes that I had sitting around (reused an iple shipping box once etc). With that, there was no way I would be able to figure out how much it would cost even with checking online.... so I just checked everything at the PO with the shipping address and chose the cheapest option and also added insurance and tracking. Then I just mailed them while I was there and let the participants know the shipping costs when I got home since I dont have a car and going all the way to the PO and not actually mailing anything is out of the way and a waste of time when I could just mail the stuff while I was there. I always do my best to get the cheapest option though.

This method probably wont always work though... especially if I had to mail a doll since of course they are bigger/heavier than a small flat rate box and are expensive to ship. With this, having to give quotes for shipping would almost always be an estimate based off what I think it would cost via what the usps site said..... because of this.... If I ever had to mail something that I sold on here via the MP, I wouldnt be able to list a specific shipping fee....possibly a range for shipping (which I'd most likely exaggerate to cover myself in case it was more). So more than likely I'd have to add +paypal fees if needed.... since I'd prefer not to have them send it personal because of the buyer protection issue. I think the only part of the sale that should include the fees in calculation is the price of the actual items. Shipping is always going to be the sticky part since you never know what it will be unless you have a scale at home (and also able to print stuff at home) or unless you use a flat rate box.

I however am not going to eat shipping costs.... cant afford to now if I had to sell a doll, and probably wouldnt be able to in the future. That's why I dont do anything international for splits/GOs unless someone else offers to ship those people their stuff for me. It is too expensive and too fiddly for me to deal with and I dont want to deal with something going wrong or buyers getting mad about the costs, especially when I'm not exactly familiar with international shipping.

4. Things that annoy me ... :

-The people who sell a rare BJD to a really too expensive price
-The companies which send the bad size for the wig
-Those who make make-ups really horrible to their bjd x)

5. Well, figuring out shipping costs is easy here in Germany. Actually, most stuff can be sent as "International Letter", which also includes small boxes. You actually CAN send an MSD (unstrung, in company box) as International Letter. If you find the right box and it doesn't exceed 5 kilos (I think) you can even send an SD doll as International Letter if you send it unstrung. You can insure the parcel, too, and have a tracking number. Really love that option because it's got fixed prices for weight and I can easily estimate that. (Or get an approximate on my bathroom scales.)

And the rant: I hate how slow Russian mail is. My doll head was sent out two weeks ago and do you know where it is? Well, if I'm lucky it'll board a plane to Munich by the end of the week ... *sigh* But it is a beautiful head, well worth the wait ... :)

6. What annoys me is my own inability to see projects through to the end. I'm like a little kid who picks up a toy, plays for 2 minutes, sees something else and instantly runs off to play with the next thing. It's super tiring and I never get to fulfill my true potential since I keep changing plans. I'm so tired of myself! -_-

7. ^ I can relate to that one. I could probably occupy my remaining years finishing off the projects I started and then ditched.

I am not annoyed by many of the things posted on here. What people do with their dolls doesn't have any impact on me. Do what you like. However, I am one who also dislikes elitism of any kind, including its application in the doll hobby. Does that person's choice of doll have anything to do with you? No. get over it.

Another pet peeve is when people ask for help and then offer no thanks or even acknowledgment to those who give it. Not all help is actually helpful, I accept that. However, someone has spent time and effort thinking something through for you and typing it out. Thank them for that. It takes less time than it did for them to attempt to help you out.

8. For me, its when:

You find a new awesome doll company and EVERY SINGLE SCULPT is sold out. Yh looking at you migidoll.

Also about the recast thing, I agree its not right, as the company's own the sculpts. Though what if someone just physically cant afford the actual official one from the company. Like Minifee body's alone cost $365. I guess you just have to save up right :)

9. THIS. I am exactly the same way with all my various doll collections. I always move onto the next big thing and I never stay and finish what I've started. Ugh x_x

10. That is 100% not an excuse. You either save up, or you find a hobby you can afford. I guarantee the number of people on this forum who are rolling around in their money Scrooge McDuck-style are in the single digits, if that. "I can't afford it" is by far the weakest and most pathetic excuse, period.

When I first joined the hobby, I couldn't afford a MNF body. Now I have two and a half MNFs, one of them in the process of being modded. I saved up and used my tax returns, and absolutely did not make excuses.

And that'll be my rant this time. People excusing recasting with weak stuff like "It's just so expensive to get the real thing!" There is no excuse that justifies buying a recast.

11. I'm guilty of this too, although I've been getting a little better. I'm also really bad about buying stuff for projects but then never doing them. xD

Edit: Unrelated, but I'm currently annoyed by the humidity here. It isn't too bad currently, though I'm not sure I want to risk spraying all these doll parts.

12. I have an embarrassing pile of projects, yet I keep buying dolls. I am really trying to commit to finishing at least one of my boxes of projects!

13. I love to buy second hand but I hate the addition of paypal fees. When I sell I include them knowing what I want to receive our of the sale.

I can't stand being drawn in by a really good price then having it get jacked up to a mediocre price because of fees being tacked on atop your shipping too.

Or essentially being asked to give up your buyer protection to get the price you were lured in at.

I just hate the practice. Anyone that says they don't have fees usually gets an automatic sale out of me. Doesn't matter how much it is lmao it's usually an automatic hell yes

14. i think i get annoyed by untruthful sellers

some claim nth perminant has done to it and i receiving it finding out sth has been permenantly changed

other time i sell out doll parts which had a perminant change and then later seeing it again up for sell without stating it has any changes....

oh yes
and one time i am on layaway on the doll
and then someone just decided to sell to another person coz they offer better while the initial deal we had was months ago and with non refundable payment sent already

15. The thing that really annoys me is hot glue on eyes...
I really hate the way Volks put hot glue in the head...
It wastes a lot of time and effort to remove it...
I'll be very happy if they can replace it with clay, just like all Korean and other companies...:aheartbea

16. I love intricate hairstyles and wig styles...

that said,

I HATE it when people touch the hair of my dolls! if even one strand is off and astray I get really anxious and compelled to fix the dishevelled hairdo, regardless of place or timing.

17. Ugh. I saw a post on Tumblr to that effect. "Seller says that doll hasn't been exposed to sunlight. Seller's photo is of the doll standing in a sunny window."

18. cleverLC oh, what irony :) Or like pictures of dolls described as: "didn't change the colour much, and if so, then evenly" and I see a banana-yellow piece of junk with uneven decolouring on normally uncovered parts like wrists, neck etc.

19. Random peeves...

-- Some people like big irises and some like smaller, but it kills me to see irises taking up THE WHOLE EYE. It looks uncomfortable.

-- Resinsoul's god-awful pictures of their products. Almost all of their sculpts have been out for years, and I've seen really lovely owner photos, but man the photos on the company website make the sculpts look cheap as heck!

-- Wigs. I love seeing dolls with long or intricate beautiful hairstyles, but I have an awful touch with wigs. I feel like I always knock them crooked or just touch them and 1000 flyaways burst out. I will enjoy other dolls' long hair, but my girls are always going to get chopped I think.

-- Similarly, faceups. You would think as a human being who has theoretically been looking at other human faces for several decades, I would know what lips and eyebrows look like. Judging by the number of times I have to wipe my faceup attempts before declaring them "good enough, I guess", it seems I am mistaken.

-- "Shovel hands". Lazy hand sculpts will literally turn me off the entire doll. I especially hate when all the fingers are stuck together pointing straight, so they don't even look natural at rest. There needs to be some amount of life in the hands!

-- That 99% of all transactions are done online. Oh how I wish there were brick-and-mortar hobby shops that catered to BJDs! Can you imagine carrying your doll with you to find the perfect eye color/iris size? Or to hold her foot up against the shoe to judge whether it will fit? What if there were even community events, like "faceup Fridays" where maybe you paid a small materials fee and could use the shop's equipment and paint with fellow hobbyists? Alas!

20. That would be a dream come true! :)

It's really annoying to send things back to the company because they sent it all wrong...then contact them for the shipping refund and asking if they got the package, or if they shipped already....(going through this)
