1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

1. I have a new peeve. People who ask to trade with you when your sales thread doesn't even have a trades list up. I've had to go back and edit my threads to specify no trades so I can try and get these dolls sold :/

2. That's funny. One of my pet peeves is when the seller does not specify trades or no trades when the new form (at least for the dolls) has a section for it right there.

3. * CUSTOMS... Having to pay a good 200 bucks on top of a already expensive doll is just.................. seriously, I want to cry. The doll price itself I can deal with - I pay for the company's work of art and all of that, but COME ON it's not like I could have bought a freaking ABJD here in my country anywhere, so you don't have to punish me for buying abroad!!
They also tend to estimate ridiculous amounts sometimes! I once got a package worth 30 dollars, which sadly was like 5 bucks over the free limit, however customs put a fee of 30 on that! I didn't accept the package when it first came cause I was so shocked... the usual is 20% + 10 dollars editing fee, which should be like 16 tops, but paying the freaking SAME amount in custom fees as the whole thing is worth?? I put in a complaint, asking them to check this and explain why it's so high, since I can provide receipts and all that, and they responded with a 'everything's in order here!' email.

* Shipping and how many companies only offer EMS! Okay I do understand it with dolls, because if you pay like 800 dollars on a doll then paying another 50 for EMS is really not much, but it annoys me majorly when clothing shops only offer EMS. There's no way I can just randomly order that pair of shoes I like or a jeans for a new doll when the shipping price is easily twice the price of the item!
I don't mind waiting so I'd prefer an option of economy mail or registered mail even if it takes a month.

* When companies don't put the measurements of their dolls on the sales pages, like anywhere, or when they don't put a nude photo of the body they are selling (I insist on seeing how it looks before I bought it ugh!) and clothing shops that do not put any clothing dimensions! I need shoes for an odd size but just from the categories, like MSD, SD and such, I cannot tell if they'll fit or not :<

* The price of clothing and shoes............ once I started getting some more high quality items, the 'usual' stuff really didn't compare anymore in terms of looks and quality and feel and everything! Sadly clothes can be sooo expensive, and they regularly top the price of my own clothing, which is just sad... It's not easy justifying a pair of 60 dollar doll shoes...

* When people somehow feel like they have a right to tell others what to do with their dolls, what they do wrong in their eyes and how only their way is the 'proper' way to own a BJD, play with one, or how to develop their character. The freedom of doing whatever the hell one wants with their doll, even if they were to abuse them or something, is something great about this hobby and the drama is uncalled for. Nobody has to like everything but some things go too far.

* Sometimes it irks me that all dolls have different body measurements. I own mostly SD13s but one larger doll and two shorter, and I sometimes wish they could just all decently share clothing. But of course then again I love height differences and all of that, so it's not like I'd change it.

* How whatever doll or clothing item I fall in love with is sold out arghhh!

4. Seeing something for sale, making an honest offer for it, being told it's just been sold.... And 3 weeks later STILL seeing the sale thread up AND it being recently bumped. If you didn't think the offer was fair/to your liking say so or make a counter offer. Or don't put "make me an offer" in the thread if the price you listed is actually the price you want. Don't lie to me about the availability of it either.

5. I'd say my biggest is not knowing for certain if clothing/wigs/etc. will fit the doll you bought it for, or even look decent. What I'd give for a company website that'd let you click and drag their stuff on a doll...

And another I'd say is not being able to avoid pictures of specific dolls entirely. Some of them really creep me out, or make me feel sick to my stomach.

6. Yes, I agree with you on this. Especially the make me an offer or a best offer part only to find out that they want full price. I also don't like it when sellers ask more than what they paid for a doll that's still available. I usually ask for less than what I paid because I've enjoyed the doll while I've had them. My enjoyment is worth some savings on price for the next person.

7. Every time someone messages me about a sale [namely, this one set of eyes I'm selling], they back out once we agree on the sale and are waiting for me to send an invoice, or don't send payment or say nevermind.
After wheeling and dealing and negotiating, and agreeing on something, I HATE it when at the last moment someone backs out of a sale.
Four times. FOUR times this has happened. All within a day or two of talking about the sale. Only message someone if you really know you want the item!

8. What bothers me most is the attitude of some sellers. I hate it when they let me think they will sell me the doll, only for their next message to be "I already sold it to someone else." That makes me want to send them rude emails, haha.

9. The thing that comes to mind since it's a rather recent not fun thing for me is when you're asked by a company if they may publish your doll photos, you say no because you don't want them on social media, you get it confirmed that the "no" has been understood and accepted only to later find out that the photos were still posted................ not cool at all

I also don't like the "EMS only" shipping thing and wouldn't mind the option "chose airmail at your own risk" at all.

10. I've got a couple more; Elitist know it alls who always find a way to put down a doll or owner. Sellers who take offers, you make a good, honest offer on their item and they counter with an offer $1.00 below the stated price.

11. It drives me crazy when sellers say they already sold it to someone else after you asked them to hold it! Ahh

12. Well, but what are they supposed to do? You ask them to hold it, two minutes later, someone tells them they'll buy it for full price - of course they sell it. I would. One person's ready to buy it right now and give me their money right away - the other one MIGHT buy it EVENTUALLY (that's how I always read "please put it on hold"). Call me greedy but I'll take the money - that's why I'm selling stuff, after all, to get money.

13. Then...don't say you'll hold it for them?

14. Khell it's not being greedy... it's being a tough businessperson lol xD I think it's alright to 'un'hold when the person didn't pay anything to hold the item. I mean, i've sold over a dozen dolls myself and nowadays I know that - unless someone gave you already the money in deposit/first layaway payment - it's okay to say: "sorry, it was sold just half an hour ago".

Especially considering, on the other hand, that there are so many customers who're like :"Omg, I'm sooo buying this and that from you, pls give me your paypal address and all and omg I love this doll/item omg omg" and on the next day you already receive another message like: "Oh, sorry, I'm not sure if I should buy it and I probably won't... soooo sorry!" leaving you with nothing, because you just refused to sell it to two other people.

(... even considering that I used to be such an indecisive customer myself a few times in the past :3 ...)

15. Well, the point of holding something is so that no one else can buy it until the holding period is over. Otherwise, it's not a hold at all :sweat So if you're not willing to do that, tell the buyer you're not willing to hold. Or, say that you will hold, unless someone offers higher. There's always a way to respect both yourself and the buyer, I'd like to think.

Things that are annoying me right now... goddamn MSC. Holy crap, after almost being done with the body, the sealant suddenly clouded up somehow (gave it a quick rinse under water, which it's SUPPOSED to be able to handle), and then I had to remove it all.. except the doll is dyed, so trying to remove sealant while not losing too much dye color is a goddamn pain @______@. Granted, I live in Florida, and it had been thunderstorming a lot recently; I tried to keep it on low humidity days, but low humidity days in south Florida = still pretty darn humid. Either way, I'm super annoyed with MSC's unreliability for me X_x;;

16. I've got another one! Just happened! When dolls that are usually great "standers" decide to flop forward and give you a bloody/fat lip........Now I can't turn my back on her for 2 seconds to even grab a comb.

17. If someone agrees to hold an item for me until the evening when I get home from work, then I expect them to actually HOLD the item until the specified time. Otherwise it's a lie, see?

If you don't honor holds for whatever reason, then just say so. I had that happen with a body once. Seller told me she couldn't promise anything, then a few hours later sent me a PM that she'd sold it to someone else. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't buy the body, of course, but I understood and appreciated her honesty.

Edit: forgot my own rant. Leekeworld wigs! Evidently I got lucky in my first two years or so of buying them, because I didn't understand people complaining about poor quality control. I have bought several wigs from them in recent months that either have visible wig caps right at the hairline, or weird scrunched up hair that can't seem to lie flat. Do you not check your products before shipping, Leekeworld?? They would be gorgeous wigs otherwise, but yeesh.

18. Here's the problem with holds here, though: Under the current marketplace rules, "ON HOLD" threads get Graveyarded. So if you put the doll on hold for someone, and a mod comes through to sweep the forum, then they back out? You're making a new thread, because your old one's gone. (I didn't realize this until I put a doll on hold for someone, and when I went back to edit it wasn't able to, because of its place in the Graveyard.) It makes putting things on hold a lot trickier than just saying "this is temporarily not for sale, but check again tomorrow."

That's a partial rant from me (I miss the old days of being able to throw something on hold). The other part of my rant today is the influx of new users recently who don't, for lack of a better term, "behave." The ones who post a thousand new (duplicate) threads here, the ones who spam like crazy in the Box Opening gallery or one of the workshop subforums so they can get their MP access as fast as possible, the ones who can't type in proper English* and use "cutesy" affectations like SMS abbreviations**, clever spellings, or eyestrain-inducing text choices. I enjoy the community here, and running into threads I can't read, or posts that contribute nothing, always disrupts my enjoyment of it.

* I don't mean people who are ESL here, though many of them impress me by being better with the English language than native speakers.
** Full disclosure: I do not think SMS abbreviations are ever appropriate, including in SMS messages. I have an irrational, seething hatred for them.

19. My current biggest annoyance.... the second hand market in general.

I'm trying to re-home a few dolls and have specified no trades and shipping only to US and Canada because it's just too expensive to ship a doll internationally for me from Canada... every time I get a quote for international shipping it's been $90-$360(!!!!) and naturally the interested buyer says no. Can't blame them for it. But I know this now, so I won't offer international shipping, it's just a waste of my time and gets their hopes up only to be dashed when the shipping is too pricey.

Yet I'm still only getting offers for trades and/or purchases from international buyers.

But the biggest annoyance? I finally got tired enough of trying to sell here that I listed one of my dolls on eBay for a really good price. And the auction sold. And imagine my surprise when the winning bidder was located in my city! She sent me a message asking if we could meet in person for her to pay/pick up the item. Perfect, avoid paypal fees and not have to deal with packing and shipping a doll? Dream come true.

Except it's been two weeks and she hasn't reponded to my mails at all about when and where to meet, ignored my payment reminders and invoices. I've now escalated it to a non-payment claim with eBay. ACK!

I swear it's almost enough to make a person not want to buy anymore dolls because trying to rehome them when your plans change is such a headache :(

20. Yes, but if you ask a seller to hold an item for you and just ASSUME they're holding it for you - and they never actually agree to hold it for you - you really can't get upset at them for selling it. I mean, I can write to a seller "OMG, I love that doll, can you hold it for me till Friday until I get my pay check?" and that's all very well but unless I get their confirmation that, yes, they'll hold the doll until Friday I better not assume they're holding it for me.

Also, if it's an emergency sale and they need the money fast (which is usually stated in the sales thread) - even if they agree to hold it for me till Friday, I'd probably be disappointed but I'd totally understand if I got a message "Sorry, someone just contacted me and offered to pay the doll in full right away. I can't hold it for you any longer." If they need money fast, they need money fast, not next Friday or in two weeks or whenever my pay check comes in.
