1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things that annoy you... *Rant Thread*

Dec 11, 2014

    1. When someone sells me a mohair wig and says "oh you can have it for $10 plus shipping because it's a bit messy and needs some TLC" then I get it and find out the wig is completely felted! like a solid lump of wool, so much so that even trying to condition and gently comb it out will mean removing half the hair.
I mean I know that what people consider good or poor condition will vary from person to person, but the amount of times I have bought an item listed as in "excellent condition" only to find when I get it it is stained, sun damaged, chewed, frayed seams, etc.
Is it me or is the world just full of people being deliberately misleading??
I just hate being lied to or having my time wasted.

My other major peeve is sellers who only post to the States, okay I realize that postage to the bottom of the planet where I live is pretty expensive....but I'm aware of that, so why won't you post to me if I'm happy and willing to pay the cost?
It also rattles my cage that you can't even ask a lot of sellers on ebay now if they will consider posting outside the U.S. because if your country is not listed in the places they will ship to, they don't want to talk to you. Dammitt if you are going to post to Australia, why can't you post to New Zealand? we're right next to Aussie! like right next to them, it's like the neighbour you can hear every time they flush the toilet.

    2. Basically I agree with you.. what I don't know about is...is it actually lying? Or are these ppl just 'not caring' that they (and to me this is MORE scary) have such 'low standards? I've seen ppl say something is in good shape and they 'believe it!' (:nowords: really pp?... this is 'good shape') Frankly I lean more to ppl just having low standards. I have mohair wigs from Leeke that new out of the package make me cringe (frizzies). to me selling them would be a "if you think you ca rescue it" types sale lol.

The not selling thing... ya that I have to admit makes me bonzo. The only exception is if you want to keep the sale local .... as in hand deliver local. I do admit my first 'sale' went to the US and I didn't want to ship out of Canada/US that time since it was my first sale and I needed the 'comfort zone' of getting it sent fast to see if "i" got the package done up right/well packed... I would not wanted to risk my packing skills just yet on an item that would spend a great deal more time 'in transit'. So for me it was more of a test run lol 'THAT' I can deal with but to consistently only sell to some places ya I don't get that at all either... it doesn't stop me for contacting the sellers though and asking if they'd consider it ;p

    3. I love my country (Canada) and my province (Nova Scotia), but often feel I am far out of the loop in many ways when it comes to bjd and doll related things in general. Not only do we face lack of resources, but a dollar that is low compared to the US, but also face unknown customs charges and no slack on shipping charges.
You really have to be prepared to pay through the nose as a Canadian collector.

I understand. I'm Canadian and sometimes run into problems too.

    4. Fellow Canadian here too and yeah, exchange rate right now is super brutal, I keep wanted seeing things in the marketplace and GO orders I want to participate in and I can't bring myself to do it since the price goes up so much.

I also hate when I have a specific idea for my doll's character and I can't find any clothing or accessories (that aren't limited edition) that fit. I have a fairy character and trying to find an msd fairy outfit is terrible.

Also finding the perfect partner sculpt or outfit only for it to not be the right size for your doll...

Baby faced MSD males (I just want some handsome older looking msd boys T.T).

    5. yep Canadian and addicted to Iplehouse ... the big dolls no less :doh Actually planning an order start of November lol...

And there is no place in Canada good for doll stuff... unless it's Vancouver or maybe Toronto... (is in Alberta ... the other wasteland for dolls LOL)

    6. One thing that makes me grit my teeth (mainly because there's really no way to respond the way I want) is when owners of certain dolls from companies whose sculpts tend to resemble each other (Soom, Volks - many of them, Luts, Delf etc) talk about trying to pick a sculpt FROM that company to match the 'look' of a doll they already have from that same company! I want to say to them, What's the PROBLEM, ANY of them will look like your doll's sibling!!!! But I refrain - being polite LOL I mean, it baffles me. I have a family of DollZone sculpts (4) that I SPECIFICALLY chose because they all look so much like a real family - to the point that my lone DZ Mo who is supposed to be in another family worries me LOL I just wonder sometimes....
This leads to another gripe - which is people talking about matching heights for their couple dolls. WTF? Have they noticed the actual human pairings wandering about? ~sigh~

      • x 2
    7. In defense of the height freaks - yes, I for one do notice human pairings. And I'm perfectly fine with my just-shy-of-70cm Dollshe hybrid and my petite 58cm nYID girl ... but my other dolls represent OCs and I have a very clear idea of how tall / short they are supposed to look next to each other, so it can be kind of an issue. Well, if First World Dolly Problems count as issues, that is

    8. Unfortunately, I do think some are actively lying in an effort to get more money and hoping the other person won't protest enough to impact their profit or reputation. I've brought him up a few times, but I'll do it again. I bought an older secondhand doll a while back who was advertised as being in good condition, with a color matched mid and minimal even yellowing. What I got was a dirty, floppy mess with a badly painted grey mod, and uneven moderate to severe yellowing. With that much difference between the description and reality, there's no way the former owner didn't know they were "bending the truth."

    9. I get annoyed when you state your intentions in a sales threads, and they are ignored. For example, if I specify "firm price, no splits, no trades," it's annoying to receive messages saying, "Will you haggle/split/trade?" Er... Well, no! My sales thread already contains that information :sweat It's even worse when people try to persuade or guilt you into their terms...

I've had a few cases where it was clear that the person just didn't read the thread carefully, which is strange to me when the item is so expensive. I read sales threads like a lawyer to be sure I understand everything

      • x 4
    10. Mm, yes. This. Or even better, the item is listed as never been used but arrives removed from its original packaging and re-wrapped in something else (not so much of an issue, say they wanted to look at it)...except it's also dirty (like has obvious smudges on it)...or in the case of a wig, the original styling is so messy and undone that nothing can be done to save said original styling and it all has to be taken out. *_*

Also, dolls that are listed as having no damage...and arrive with a gouge in the collar bone and a nick out of the inside of the eye well (hidden under the applied eyelash). :...(

    11. Yes! It's very tempting to ask if they have trouble with reading comprehension because, y'know, I apparently took the time to fill out the very easy to understand form with clear conditions just for laughs. 9_9

    12. the truth is ... "it never hurts to ask" especially with sale threads that stay up a long time... eventually there are ppl who will change thier minds.... so it's not a simple as you say. If 100% of sellers NEVER changed their minds later I could agree with you. I lost stuff because when I've asked about an item on occasion I've been told 'oh I just sold that part and was going to update'.... it happens... so I ask if I want it badly enough... there is always the chance they 'might' agree. Fixed sale conditions or not...

    13. Nah..if it's clearly stated then it's clearly stated for a reason. I personally hate being asked if I'm sure I want what I said I want. If someone said "If you ever change your mind..." I'd be just mildly annoyed. Straight up asking for something against the stated terms, especially within hours of it being posted? No.

    14. Right. You have the option of indicating flexibility in the sales thread itself. If I were open to suggestions, I would say "I might be willing to haggle/trade/split, message me and we'll talk." But if you specify, "I have zero interest in haggling/trading/splitting, please don't message me about those things," then you've indicated your intentions clearly. And if I change my mind, I'll come back to thread and reflect those changes, the same as if I wanted to cut the price or offer more items to entice buyers.

Sure, asking cannot hurt anyone, but when I've already provided the answer, you're wasting both people's time. Obviously this isn't the end of the world, but it's enough to be a silly pet peeve, which is what this thread is for XD

    15. but this assumes NO ONE EVER changes their minds... and I know they do... because I've got stuff from ppl who did. So it's not a waste of time.... I got something and they seller sold something... Essentially it's the "never say never" principle at work here... I've learned ppl are MORE flexible than they think.

Not to mention, leaving it open to haggle is like saying 'here is my price but you don't really have to pay it' ... O_o... And since most sellers do not 'mark up' prices... they technical don't leave room to haggle. (I'm of course referring to sales that don't say 'fixed' price.)

    16. If I change my mind, I will edit the sales thread to show it, and thus the concept of ignoring specifications on a sales thread is annoying to me. But clearly there are people who don't mind. I suppose it chalks down to the same thing annoying one person and not annoying someone else. Hardly the first time that's happened

    17. So, you're a shop/person/entity-in-general who specifically sells BJD eyes. Urethane, glass, silicone, acrylic, kiwi - whatever, maybe I'm just irritated at this very moment and instant in time and space...but if your specialty is selling eyeballs, why don't you list the pertinent information? I'd like to know the iris size too. Some people find that information helpful.

Excellent, they won't fade. What size are they? Cool, they're made out of urethane so you're charging $75. But what size are they? You can do custom orders, great great. But what friggin ass size are they?!

Blah. S'good that there happens to be other options on who and where I can purchase eyeballs from.

    18. When clothing measurements are nonexistent. I have an MSD and SDs that are all on the biggest, bulky end of their spectrum, and these days I just assume normal clothes won't fit them. Things could be made easier if sellers had the sizing of their clothes marked down or something.
