Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

I told myself I would only invest in one doll and customize her and sew her entire wardrobe....
After a decade of thinking this, I now own two dolls and have at least 10 more on my wishlist. I am still definitely going to sew them clothes, but while I get my skills up, I am buying some other cute found outfits. My entire perception changed when I finally had my first doll in my hands. Planning in my head only goes so far!

 

Oh no. I have said almost everything everyone else has said or thought, and I too have gone against that.
Now I am scared as I think I don't need a BJD in every dollhouse I own, but somehow I know I will not be keeping my word.

 

At first I was only going to buy one doll. I told myself I could always buy new outfits and wigs to change her look. Within a few months I bought another doll. Then it was no dolls over $300 and no SDs. And now I'm doing a layaway for an $800 SD doll. ^^;;;

 

"I cant see myself having more than one".........says the girl with 5 on her shelf
"pukis are too small for me" ....I have one. XD

 

"Just gonna admire these, never buy one!" Hah! Have my very first on layaway as of this moment and saving for a DC Elizabeth. -_- I have no self control. xD

 

I told myself that I wouldn't get anymore than 6 dolls, but I have three at the moment and have 5 must haves that I am planning on buying. I still haven't gone against what I said I wouldn't do, so there is an opportunity to stop myself from going over 6, but I doubt this. XD

I wasn't going to get a girl doll. This wasn't such a big "I won't do this no matter what!" thing, but it wasn't something I had planned. But well, I won a Hujoo Phoebe and she is just adorable.

I also told myself that I wouldn't spend so much money on clothes again, but it's too late for that. XD

The only other thing I said I wouldn't do is get a 70 cm doll, which I still don't have the urge to do.

 

This was totally me as well. I thought about getting a 2nd head a bit later on, but now I have doll number 14 ordered.

Also:

• "I do not like the Yo sized dolls." Said the girl that now has five Soom Teenie Gems (I blame Mayday).
• "Doll Chateau dolls are weird... never going to get one from there" Said the girl that just but a DC Agnes on layaway (this one is pinkandyellow's fault!).

My biggest one was NO IMPULSE PURCHASES.

ahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa........

But then, of course, there are others-

*finish your current layaways before starting another one! (um. yeah I completely ignored that when I ordered my JID Leona a couple weeks ago.)
* $1,000 is waaaaay too much for a doll, that's crazy!!! and then I discovered Soom. and now I am determined to have at least one of their fantasy fullsets with all the bells and whistles included, which I know will land me right around that mark. I am also seriously lusting after Souldoll's Wheel of Fortune Arno. And Doll Chateau's Kevin. (I'd get them both as fullsets, natch.)
*just stick to resin colors that don't cost extra! clearly a delusion, since I adore fantasy skin tones and tans are so lovely.


...And for a while, I was almost completely convinced I would just hang around in the tiny spectrum and never branch out of it. (I thought the same thing when I started collecting anime figures- I'd stick to nendoroids and figmas and not bother with scale figures. Lasted all of maybe a month.) After the three dolls I'm waiting on arrive, I'll have an 11cm, a 16cm, a 20cm, two YO-SDs, two MSDs and an SD at home, with plans for more MSDs and SDs (...and tinies, I am not going to kid myself here).

 

I told myself I didn't need dolls to shell existing characters. The biggest story I'm writing is a collab effort with a friend from high school that we've been working on for about 5 years now. She's kind of creeped out by dolls, so I told myself I wouldn't try to shell our characters... Guess who just spent all day updating her wishlist with MSDs that match our Cryptica kids? Ahahaaaaaa... Hrm. So much for that. But ahhhh, I laid my eyes on one doll in particular and it just screamed "Karalyn"...! I had to add her, and then find her a sister, and then find her sister a girlfriend, and then find the girlfriend a rival... And now the rival needs a boyfriend... And so does Kara... I can't stop!

 

No more Soom Mini Gem girls, the one i have is difficult to pose. Soom released 30 more black skinned Noellia. I had to order one.

No impulse buys- epic fail. 3 were at least on my wishlist, 3 were not.

Nothing smaller than a Real Puki. A Lee-el tin man is on my wishlist...

 

I have a couple:
# only buy male dolls - I have two girls here and will soon order #3
# never get an SD sized doll - the character concept is complete, I just have to find the right sculpt
# never to sell/reshell current dolls - that proces has been started
# limit my family to 10 dolls - raised it to 15
# save up the entire amount for a doll and then buy it - hello extra cash from work and family
# stop buying eyes for Izrail - bought even more eyes, but in the end I used a pair I had laying around

 

I was going to hold off on buying more dolls for a while because I just got 3 in and one that should be coming next month. They all need clothes & face ups.

But one of my dolls convinced me he wanted to be a farmer & brewer not a persocom. So, Now I needed to find a new persocom.

So, today I have a doll on layaway.

 

I said I would never purchase a Ball Jointed Doll and now I have three XD

 

Haha...give them a "character".
However, it seems my little DC Hilary (Pear) is a substance abuser. I'm not quite sure how that happened. I have a lot of photographic proof of her bad behavior. I get mysterious texts of lines of white powder from relatives addressed to her....
She is out of control. And now she has brought one her her buddies home.
She was supposed to just stand there.

 

I haven't done anything I said I wouldn't do yet. However, one of the things I said I wouldn't do was getting a SD sized doll (MSDs are the perfect size for me), but that "no" is slightly less firm then it had been a couple months ago...

But it's still a "no"!

 

I'm going to collect all 60cm dolls. (I have exactly 1 60cm doll)
I'm only going to get two dolls. (Ahahahahahahaha.)
I want mostly male dolls. (two of my MSDs and one of my OT dolls are girls, and one doesn't quite have a traditional gender)
Pukis are cute but much too small for me. (and then Realpukis happened, though his size still terrifies me)
I'm not going to physically mod any of my dolls myself, it's too scary. (and then I started trying to make different feet for one and drilling another's ears full of holes)
Fairys yes, but I don't think I want any anthros. (and then there were dragons. THEY KNOW MY WEAKNESS AAHHHH)

 

I said to myself that I would never buy an Iplehouse doll because of the price and at that time my finances could not justify it. Now I am waiting to pay the second layaway for my first Iplehouse doll. I couldn't help myself uwaghh...
