1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

Nov 19, 2013

    1. Said I would not buy more than two dolls...

      ...guess what just happened?

      My poor wallet. :(

    2. I always said I would never have a floating head, now I have one and another one on the way. I was also adamant that I was only going to have MSD size dolls and now my second floating head is an SD size.
Also my two dolls went up to six, which was a good number and was supposed to stay like that, now I am up to eight and two heads, will it ever end?

    3. "No limiteds. Nuh-uh. Nope nope nope." Darn you, Doll Chateau and your little snail centaur..... :D

    4. I told myself I wouldn't buy more than one of the same sculpt...and now I find myself with:

      — 3 Migidoll Yujins (granted, they sort of don't count towards being the same sculpt because the company itself was the one that produced the variants of the sculpt)
      — 2 Angelheim Ryans (but they are meant to be different aspects of the same character, so they need two distinct looks)
      — 2 Migidoll Mu's (I bought a NS one to replace/reshell a WS one, and I haven't gotten around to readying the WS one for sale)
      — 2 Migidoll Rivers (one of which is still packed away in its packaging and the other is on display with my other dolls)

Early this year I told myself I'll stop my collection at forty dolls...and somehow I ended up going past that by three, and then now I'm waiting for two more... So forty-five *should* be enough. I mean, forty-five *is* enough. I'll definitely stop there. I can totally do it.

      :doh

    5. I said I wouldn't own a doll larger than a MSD since I don't have the room and I'd never have spare parts floating around. Then I did a split for an 80cm body that I need to find a head for sometime...

    6. I said I wasn't going to buy a doll larger than 10 inches. And guess what, I bought a doll chateau Bella. She's in the mail and I just cannot wait for her to get here!

    7. I told myself I wouldn't buy any dolls, I held out for over eight years though

    8. I said no more than 7 but that was an odd number now I'm up to 15 full dolls and it's an odd number but I should quit. Yah, maybe after I find a body for the three floating heads (one is a swap and in the mail) That's even right...:eusa_naug

    9. I said that I wouldn't get more than my first, then that I'd keep to just the three of them since I felt no need for extensive family who anyway lived elsewhere and had no to little contact with my girls, but then along came first doll's little sister and moved in with them (she's on her way, not entirely paid yet), and I suspect to get to know a child and later on two adult girls whom I only know by name. Oh, my brain...

    10. At the beginning of the year I was like "omg i would never spend that much money on a doll....even if they are really beautiful! I'd rather spend it on other things like pullips, figures and manga!" ANNNNDDDD here I am.....XD

    11. "Never open more than one layaway at once," I said. "How would you possibly have enough for that?" I said.

...I am just about finished paying off a body for a floating head. It likely shan't arrive until sometime in autumn with how slow the company has been, and I set up a proper budget for it back in March. Although it's a bit tight, I managed to work an artist's cast of one of my favorite sculpts into what funds I had left.

...And speaking of that head? "No more than two floating heads at a time." "Okay, three is good." "Four; I can handle four."

...Seven floating heads currently, not counting the one that's receiving a body. And I sold two this month. Granted, two were unexpected trade which I accepted for the convenience of my partners, and another a grail, but still...

"No dolls over $600. I can't afford that."

I still can't afford it. But two rather high-end dolls have slipped their way into my current collection between trades and ridiculously good deals. It is certainly pushing me to rethink saving and layaway.

      "No YoSDs or tinies."

When I first took interest in the hobby, the immaturity of smaller sculpts put me off. But then I found Soom Romantic Afi. And 5StarDoll Aiden. At this point I have owned both, and maintain a variety of sizes.

"Less normal/white-skinned dolls, more fantasy colors and tan."

While I would still prefer to keep this rule, the reality is that a large number of my favorite sculpts are in normal/white skin only. I plan to recolor at least one grey. Still, that's hardly ambitious.

      "No anime-proportion breasts."

The Comtesse, as a character, is a thick, curvacious woman. Conveying that on SD-sized resin shall be difficult... a large-busted body should help.

    12. I only planned to have one doll in each of the 3 main sizes. For several years I stuck to that and only had one of each. But then I decided that I needed both a boy and girl in each size. Now I buy any doll if I fall in love with it and can afford it.

    13. i originally only wanted one doll, that one went quickly haha. Then only dolls that were MSD dolls, until i fell in love with Supiadolls. Then i said i wouldn't get any boy dolls...currently saving for two...at least i have a job now and can actually afford to break my own rules :)

    14. with the exception of my big souldoll centaur because I'm a Sagittarius ... no anthro/fantasy dolls.... Then Enyu happened ... he needed a new home! how could I say no to the little darling I'd been saying I was going to dollnap! And I actually "regret" missing out on the zebra-taur ><... and now vow to find one on secondary market :sweat And am currently fighting to NOT buy a full doll just to get a 'skull head"... money issues will help save me on that one lol.

oh and I kinda like the ?-taur types more now... so when my core group is built I'm prolly gonna end up with some lol

    15. After my last couple of posts (where I lost every last one of my "things I said I wouldn't do") I decided to give myself the new rule that I couldn't buy any dolls that didn't have a character already attached in some way, and held with that for a while! (Even though Irin ended up not being an existing character, I didn't technically "buy" her, so she doesn't count and I'm sticking to that logic.)

Except now I'm trying to figure out where to fit two(!) new limiteds that are ideal aesthetic fits to one of my groups, but don't have characters associated with them... I should really stop making rules.

    16. I said I wasn't going to ever get a female doll.

      ...

*brandishes Dollshe Afghan* So much for that idea.

    17. It was always an informal list, but..:

      - No dolls over 45 cm. I don't like handling them. (Promptly lusts after a 700$ 65 cm boy.)
      - No fullsets. What about uniqueness!? (Promptly wants said 65 cm boy's fullset because ahhhh!!!)
      - No anthros. I've never found one I liked. (Until I did. She's on pre-order from Mint on Card.)
      - No buying new dolls until I'm finished the two at home. (Well, they'll probably be finished by the time the new doll gets home. Probably.)
      - No trying to do face-ups myself. (But I don't want to bother my artist friend with this one, and I really want to try...)
      - No writing any of my dolls' stories. They're interesting, but I have enough books to write right now. (It's a bi-weekly updated Wattpad project.)
      - No cross-dressing dolls. (But he's not really cross-dressing. So it doesn't count!)
      - No buying doll clothes. I can make my own. (Except, apparently, for Valli's. She gets bought clothes. Also, the above mentioned fullset.)

There was also at one point a "You only need these two dolls!" rule, but apparently that was because I'm just very selective about what dolls I want...

    18. Just one I said. It'll be easy I said.

    19. "No more dolls this year"

*looks at my waiting list* oops [IMG]

    20. Buy a doll = did it.
Buy another doll = did it.
Have floating heads = I have 3 currently.
Get an SD doll = did it, currently saving up for my next.
Make bjd youtube vlogs = did it.
Buy more dolls = I ALWAYS break this rule.

      I am just full of contradictions xD;
