1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

    1. Buy an SD size doll. I used to think that I wouldn't be able to handle the size or price of 1/3 sized dolls, but I recently discovered that the bigger the sculpt, the more detailed the character can be. So now I desire to have at least a few 1/3 scale dolls in the future, God willing.

    2. I said I'd never get an MSD sized doll, in fact, I was very adamant that I wouldn't like smaller sized dolls. I have one MSD on layaway now and like five more planned for the future.

    3. Psst!... for big muscles... HID (Iplehouse)... slimmer... Tera zenith (Soul Doll) <- they have good layaway XD

    4. I said to myself, airbrushing a full doll is a bad idea. Chipping and touch ups and special care, that's going to be a mess.

Then I bought an airbrush and that was the end of that.

    5. So, I said I was never going to buy a doll worth more than my laptop. *wallet weeps* and I said only dolls from a certain universe I'm writing. The reaperverse was my main verse, and it has a large cast of characters. Large enough without me adding a few dolls from my other series. And then some dolls from existing series snuck in there.

And then I said "well, at least I'm not making the villains. Just the main cast." Until I saw the perfect sculpt for my villain... That was an oops.

I also swore I was never gonna fall into the trap of sold out limited edition soom sculpts. I bought Noelia after she sold out. Bought Jo's body (soom cass '09) am looking for Grim's head (soom gluino Romantic ver) and his wings (bazael wings) oops. There are two other sculpts I'm looking for too.

    6. I was absolutely set on never getting a Doll Chateau Bella. Other DC dolls, definitely, but not Bella. While I've always liked her face, I just felt like there was already soo many Bellas out there, and I didn't think I would be able to do anything new or interesting with the sculpt.
Then, like a month ago, I found a Bella second-hand for a decent price and with a gorgeous faceup and well would you look at that, now she's sitting on my shelf like that's was her destined purpose. Needless to say, I'm very happy I got her.

    7. I said that I would never own a BJD. :XD:
Too big and too expensive I said. Not for me I said. LOL

    8. Me Too! I ordered 4 ended up selling 3 telling myself I wasn't going to really get into this hobby, that was about 3 years ago. Just ordered an SD size girl from Miro Doll last week, have my first can of Mr. Super Clear on the way, already bought the respirator, pastels, paints, and 2 wigs on ebay. Why did I keep resisting? The one resin I kept was an Impldoll Gela, she still has no face-up but that will change very soon.

      • "I'll never own a floating head; I mean a bodyless head, what's the point?" (I already own two, and will get more if I find the right sculpts for sale)
      • "Two dolls is enough" (I own four complete dolls now, and am planning at least two more in addition to bodies for my floating heads...)
      • "I won't get a male doll" (I'm planning on getting a Tika)
      • "Doing face ups is not for me" (All I need now is a ventilator and some dry weather and I'll see what I can do with my Nanuri16 head)
      • "Commissioning people for things for my dolls sounds scary. I'll stick with ready made stuff" (Nope, I was wrong. Making custom requests is a lot of fun!)
I could probably make this list longer...In addition to laughing at myself for changing my mind so often and quickly, I also see these things as a healthy sign of development within the hobby I love. I hope I'll get to change my mind many more times:lol:

    9. I said I'd never own a BJD... Then I said I'd never own a BJD that cost over $1,000.

Here I am, $1,700 in debt for the my first BJD. lol

    10. I said I'd never learn to build just to be able to display my dolls. But after talking to a contractor and being quoted an effin fortune just to put some shelves and a clear door on my closets I am now reading books on how to use power tools and how to make custom closets. I'm beginning to realize maybe that I am gong to have to learn to do certain things for myself if I want to make doing it affordable.

The most I've ever used by way of power tools till this year was a power screwdriver. All my life my Dad either did the major household stuff or hired someone to do it. I've done some small repairs, but I've never built shelves and that. The closest I've ever gotten to that is putting together some Ikea stuff. I still won't touch electrical work, and I'm nervous about plumbing, but I'm learning.

It's not so hard to remove closet doors, to put shelves in, to add on simple plexiglass doors. But both contractors I talked to they wanted 2-3K to go there. I priced the parts and the glass. Looked at "how to's" for a while. I could do it for maybe $350. So basically they're intent upon charging me up the wazoo for the labor? Not going to happen. I wouldn't mind some labor costs it if it was reasonable but that's a heck of a markup.

I love my dolls and it will happen, but not enough to spend that much renovating the closets to display them. It would be less expensive for me just to buy two or three more curios for them. I really wanted to use the closets but I'd do that before I spent that much on this project. There's room in this place for them if worst comes to worst. One way or the other all the dolls will come out of the boxes finally, even if I end up having to build their new displays myself!

    11. I once promised myself that I wouldn't buy more dolls unless I had enough outfits....
... That lasted about two seconds.
Now I have seven dolls and only 3.5 outfits. .//. needless to say, I have to keep them tucked away (until I can buy/sew more clothes), lest a houseguest discover them in their nudity and find it most disdainful.

    12. Let's add to the list:

      - get more than 20 dolls
      - get a big girl (read: in the 65 cm range)
      - get another big girl
      - get an MSD girl that's NOT a Minifee
      - buy a doll-head that costs more than 200 USD
      - get a doll that costs more than 700 USD
      - buy stuff on Noppin
