1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

Nov 19, 2013

    1. When I sold my last mini-sized doll and said "no more mini's!"
Then I bought another mini *fail*

    2. I bought a doll in a size other than SD T_T I knew I wouldn't be able to afford clothes and wigs in two sizes and I was right! I ended up selling the MSD I bought but it was fun having her while it lasted ^^ I also have another floating head on order...which I said I wouldn't do ):

    3. I don't typically set rules for myself in this hobby, but I never thought I would buy two of the same doll. I didn't think there was a need to have two of the same sculpt, but here I am with two Dollshe Saints because I loved the first one so much!

    4. I love the name of this thread because I'm pretty sure it happens to everyone. I think the /biggest/ 'I'm going to...' that I broke was "no way am I spending $800 on a doll!"--and then my Iplehouse order happened... (Okay, because of the coupon she was only $796... but still.) I also said 'no open mouths' because I really didn't like the style. And now one of the dolls on my list has an open mouth. I can't think of any 'I'm not going' rules that I've currently made because those usually end up getting broken. XD

    5. Buy a floating head & have more than one doll from the same company would be the biggies.

    6. I used to say nothing smaller than a YOSD. I thought anything smaller than my Bobobie Bao, a slim 1/6th boy, would be too small for me. I bought a 1/9th scale girl on impulse, my Cherish Doll Slim Pia, and I couldn't be happier with her! I think it's really important to keep an open mind and try new things in the hobby. It keeps it fresh and exciting. :)

I always said that 60cm bjds were lovely but too much doll for me. Now that I have one of my own, that's false. 65cm and up is pushing it for me, but who knows what the future will bring!

    7. MSDs only. Tinies are too small and SDs are too big. I now have three tinies and one SD. Dx
No impulse buys. And then NS Soom Bygg appeared. At least he has been my only impulse buy...so far.
No dollfie dreams; they stain too easily and they're around SD size. Hatsune Miku has been pre-ordered and will be here next year. She'll also be my tallest doll.

    8. "This is the last one."

-I believe that two more dolls came home within a year and half of that statement. Since then, my acquisitions have settled down a lot.

"Elena only needs one pair of shoes."

-And so she had for three years, until Dollmore had a sale, and then I swooped in and bought her two pairs of boots because Boots.

      "I will have no favourites."

-It's odd, when I think about each of my dolls, I feel very affectionate toward all of them. I spent a lot of time and money making them as lovely as I could, and I would be sad to have to sell any of them. There is no way I can say I feel indifferent about any of them. They are all special to me. But then, somehow, Elena manages to sneak away with a little more specialness. :|

"All my dolls will get equal amounts of attention."

-Even when I make an effort to rotate who sits out, who gets a photoshoot, who gets a new faceup or outfit, I still find these things are not equally distributed. However, nobody languishes in abject neglect either.

"I can't sculpt very well, so I had better not attempt any mods."

-At some point, after years of looking at the Customizing subforum, I decided to give it a go. And here I am, mid-project and still hopeful. We'll see how it turns out.

    9. I wasn't going to buy anything from Volks, none of their dolls did anything for me and I thought they were waaay too expensive. Then, Yukinojo. BOOM. Now I have a Yukinojo head. Still not a whole doll, but yeah.

    10. I'm guilty of the same dark, impulsive crimes as most others. My tale won't shock other lost souls......

MSD's!? We don't need no stinking MSD's! I'm a he-man! Only big dolls, 60cm or more! That's how I started strong and true. But the shorties turned my eye with their petite ways and well, it turns out I'm a weak girly man after all, I have two MSD's and will be getting another in January.....

I was monogamous once, I told her it was only going to be you and me, baby, forever......and it was for a year anyway...but I've got a wonderin' eye for a nicely sculpted leg and a pretty face. As they wink at me across the internet my dolly lust says yes, yes, yes! I thought just this one time! But it happened again and again. And now my gals number ten....

This summer I bought a Cerisedolls head, I spent many emotionally draining hours on the internet, bleary eyed obsessing over neck sizes and resin matches. After I finally nabbed what I was looking for from a dark alley in France and brought her home I swore, never again to go body snatching. From that day forward I would buy no more heads, forever. But as Elvis Costello once sang, "Forever doesn't mean forever anymore...." and now I've got two floaty woman dancing before my eyes begging me to take my shovel across the internet and dig them up forms so they can pose wild and free once again!

So hear my confession and learn from my tawdry tale of dolly love!

    11. I did the standard "I'm never going to buy another doll" thing. I was dead-set on being satisfied with just one doll.
I actually held strong for several years with that mentality, but this summer I really started lusting for another one and I finally gave in.

    12. I said I wasn't going to order another doll in 2013- and then Dollshe put their new boy on sale. D'oh!

    13. When I got into this hobby last year I told myself I would never get dolls that didn't fit into my pre-existing story.....yea now I own a vinyl doll and abc plastic anthro freyre with no name or backstory. I also said I would never buy another doll while waiting for one I just ordered....and right off the bat that plan flew out the window (ordered my second resin bjd a couple days after just ordering my first one , damn you angel-studio and your lovely dolls. I told myself I would never consider buying any doll smaller then msd...:sweat but according to my wishlist that won't last I also said I would absolutely never ever buy a doll over 60cm.:|My Zhen is 63cm and currently saving up money for my third doll that will be 73cm ( I blame dkdoll) :doh It's like my brain takes it as a challenge to try and break down all my doll rules...why do I even try? oh well

    14. I said I wouldn't get back into the hobby about six years ago.

And now here I am, finally on DoA. That worked out so well, I think.

    15. I said i would only get my first BJD in 2013 and would wait another 2 years before expanding my crew. Yea... Then Nozomi and Masaru happened -_-"

    16. I got a large inheritance from my grandma, and I told myself I would buy a really small doll (a Pure Nemo) and some clothing for my current doll, instead of buying another expensive SD doll. (and save the rest of my money)

So I bought all that... and then ordered 2 more SD dolls :sweat

    17. Ohhh boy... Things I said I wouldn't buy... mmm more than a girl and a boy doll. My siggy explains the rest... XD

    18. Another thing: I do not like men with a beard very much. Now a bearded guy is a member of my doll family, and another is expected to arrive soon. This one will even have a sculpted beard.

    19. Deleted, because the post I made no longer applies. I talked some sense into myself... :P

    20. I once said I'd never let myself become obsessed with dolls...
