Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

Nov 19, 2013

    1. I remember when I weren't into this hobby, (but still saw bjds around my other doll hobbies) and thought to myself that I would never buy a bjd because it was too expensive, and now I have several dolls.

    2. At first I said no dolls at all. They were pretty but they weren't for me and were too expensive.
Then it was just one small doll, 1/6 or so. I would buy her as a full set and only ever let her wear those particular clothes. I thought she would be a beautiful art piece that would stay on display and that was it.
Then I would only buy dolls whose clothing I liked so I could make full use of them.
Then I would only make and sew their clothing, no buying pre-made stuff for me!
Then only in-expensive pre-made clothing. No brand specific stuff that was super expensive.
(How many Volks outfits do I have now.....)
I said I would only keep small dolls, but then, lo and behold, a 60cm SD snuck into my house
I said she would be the only large doll, the only one since they are so expensive. Now I have her, a floating head, a pre-order for another and looking into buying yet another SD sized girl.

Hello, my name is Katie and I have a problem....:)

    3. Well, I said once upon a time, when I was still learning about BJDs and saw how big SDs were, that I wouldn't get one....I now have one incomming and an SD head......hmm.

    4. You know, when I started I was extremely, yaoi, yaoi, yaoi! Didn't really want any of the girls. But it was also influenced by some friends I had recrntly kinda broke off with before getting my first doll. I realized after I shouldn't be so easily influenced just becausevi want all people happy and not have a reason to dislike me because my tastes differ. So yeah, once the one really bad friendship ending I saw Topaz on Soom and had to have her. So I got my first girl! Yay. Then I had said I would never do tinies...welp I have a couple Zuzus on the way now and I have a Miss Kitty. The girls in my collection will grow drastically in summer too with my big luts order. I got Yul, Ju Hee, and Kara coming. Yay~

    5. I told myself I wasn't going to buy my Alma any clothes and just get her one wig... so far I failed miserably having commissioned not one but two seamstresses on Etsy for her things and bought her an extra wig (it was so pretty and made of mohair, plus it was a rare find...gosh, what elso could I do?)... Anyways, I'm going to have to put an end to this shopping frenzy, for my wallet's sake (I need stuff too lol)

    6. 1. Have more than two
      2. Have more than three
      3. Order a fifth without selling another ^^;;

Basically I just have way more than I planned (just ordered number 5!)

    7. get into tinies! I always figured SDs were the ones for me. then I moved into a tiny place. things changed. now SDs are just toooo much! I love tinies!

I also continue to tell myself that I'll sew everything, and not buy anything. I don't know why I like to lie to myself!!!

    8. First I said I'd never have more than 5, then when I hit 5 I said no more than 10, then when I hit 10 I said no more than 15. Now I have 12 with a 13th coming in and 4 more planned, so the new limit is no more than 20...
I also said no character dolls, but now I have Gilbert and Zoro so far, and Superboy is the 3rd character/13th doll that's awaiting shipment XD

    9. I first said I'd never buy a BJD because of price.
Next I said I would only buy two dolls, a male and female vampire couple. I now have 16 all girls no boys.
Then I said I would just collect SD size dolls, then I started collecting yos.
I said I would never buy a Volks doll because I heard they were very expensive and hard to get. Little did I know that really isnt true. I own almost all Volks dolls now.
I said I would never buy an SD-16 and I have one on the way. I should stop now! LOL

    10. I first saw them and swore them off because of the price. (2009)

Then I bought my first one on impulse and said I wouldn't get more. (2009)

Then I bought another one cause she looked lonely. (2011)

Then I bought another one because I liked the look. (2012)

      Now I have 17 (2014) ^^;

    11. Buy a doll, buy more than one doll, buy a MSD sized doll, do a faceup, spend more than $100 on doll clothes, spend over $200 on just a head, leave the hobby, get back into the hobby, the list goes on... haha

    12. I never thought I would buy a doll as large as an SD. Then, when I broke down and got one, I said I would never have more than one that large. That didn't last long. I will soon have 3. :D

    13. Like a few other people here, I thought I would never get into it because too expensive (maybe around 2006 or so), but I envied all the BJD photography I saw on DeviantArt and Flickr feeds.

Then when I found out that not every sculpt costs upwards of $500 (2011), I told myself I would only get one doll, and a YoSD size because I thought it would be ridiculous to lug around anything bigger, and smaller sculpts seemed way too expensive for the cost-to-size ratio.

Fast-forward to now, I have an SD I'm waiting on, the original YoSD, and a 12cm Tiny. There's an MSD I have my eye on for whenever I have enough money for her, and I'll probably find other dolls after that which I will have to own as well...

The saddest thing of all of this is, my girlfriend is terrified of dolls and thought I was only getting one, but now I'm springing many more on her and she's not sure how she feels about it. She affectionately calls me her creepy doll owner, but she kind of wants me to keep them all in the closet unless I'm taking photos of them or something, which is kind of sad. xD Maybe I'll convince her to love them too. Someday~

    14. Hmmmm. As of a year and and a half ago , I had no resin BJDs, but quite a few other jointed dolls of other categories. I looked at some of the dolls online and thought I would never wait MONTHS to get a doll. I didn't have the patience. When I really started to think about ordering one and being able to wait the time, I said I would never buy anything but HUMAN. Kaye Wiggs Laryssa Faun hooked me, I hesitated too long to order the dark tan. I now have 2 MSDs, a Faun and an Elf, 2 tinies, both elves, and two itty bitty mice. I love them all! BTW I have another MSD sized elf coming in a few months. I also waited many months for the rest of my clan! I will eventually eventually get a human. :) I am waiting for a couple of them to come up on preorder. I also have some Iplehouse girls on my list.

    15. When I got into the hobby I told myself I would never buy any human dolls. Meaning they were all to be fantasy related if I were going to get them. My first three dolls were just that, fantasy and I loved them! I have only kept one of them now, but she's the only elf I have in my home. My other forever keep doll, is a Zaoll muse, and she's for sure not a fantasy doll. I do plan on getting up the courage to make her ears elf like or make her a vampire. Though I went against my own words and have gotten three other human dolls before that. They've all been given new homes because I knew myself too well and fantasy is all I want.

    16. When I bought my first doll I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any other dolls.
Kept it for 2 years or something, and the I broke it with obtaining Grendel (all tho technically she was a gift, so yh can't say no to that now can I ?).
And wel not long after that I ordered a peakswoods vamp goldie (still on its way t.t)
And I have 2 dollzone dolls..........

    17. I never thought I'd be intereste in msd size girls in my doll family, moreover I'm going to purchase any doll from fairy land company. Well, life is life (nanananana xd) some things happens, like my friend... and her army of msd girls... they're awesome btw... yup :)

    18. I got Soomed! I came into the hobby searching for dolls at reasonable prices, because there is no such thing as a cheap BJD after you get everything you really want for your dollie. But, I promised myself and even others that I would not get drawn in by the high dolloar limited crowd (i.e. Soom) and make responsible dollie purchases. Well, I have owned not one, but two different Soomlings in my time as a doll addict. They have since gone on to different homes for one reason or another, but I fell victim to the hype like I said I wouldn't.

My name is Mortifox and I am a doll addict!

There, feels so much better getting that off of my chest :) Well, I don't regret it. All the dolls I have owned, both those still in my care and art projects passed, have been loved and will always be special to me.

    19. I never thought I'd buy an MSD, because I always felt so weird holding other people's MSDs. But I love my new RS Mei immensely.

I also said I would never own a new doll, but then Dollzone released their Eudora and Coral and I loved them! My parents bought me a Eudora for Christmas, and I'm still waiting on him. But, I'm pretty sure that I'll love him. However, the wait is killing me and I don't plan on getting another new doll (or any doll) for quite some time.

And, I said that I would stop at two. And then three. I now have five dolls to my name. But seriously, I'm done this time and can't afford any more dolls! I need to start saving to move out.

    20. No more than 2 dolls. I own 25 and am planning to purchase 2 more (hopefully before the end of 2014 *crosses fingers*). No tinies. I own 11. No impulse dolls. 2 were impulse purchases.

About the only thing I have held true to is to make the majority of my doll's clothes. But that's only because quite a few are odd-sizes and the majority require cultural clothes for my created species so there's no other way for them to get their clothes than for me to make them.
