1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things you said you wouldn't do but did anyway.

Nov 19, 2013

    1. I said I wouldn't come back. xDDDD

The one thing I am glad I followed through with, either because I had no choice or whatever, is that I had to wait for quite a long time before I could get a BJD at all. When you first get into a hobby, your wishlist is expensive and insane, but eventually the newness wears off and you can really think about what you actually wait. That helped.

Why did you never want to sell any dolls? Secondhand market is wonderful and selling dolls is a good way of making sure you keep only what you really want to keep and bringing some money back into your wallet.

    2. I told myself all I was to buy was one when I first started... LOL

    3. Probably my biggest thing involves those times when I said that I wouldn't buy dolls for a while. Then... Guess what? One of my grails shows up for sale at a price I'm willing to pay. How can I resist? :3

    4. When I started I swore to myself it was going to be just one boy. A few months later the second boy was on order. Then I swore it would be just the two of them. Yeah now I have five more boys, a girl, and one more on the way.

With a collection of six boys I swore I would never buy a girl. I have one.

With all MSDs I swore no teenies. Yep I have one and sometimes think about getting another or adopting one from the collection my best friend is wanting to thin out.

I know at one point of time or another I said no Volks, except a School A, especially Sweet Dream School A. Definitely no FCS. A year ago I got my FCS F-08 that I love, so much so he is my avatar here, now that I have a picture of him... He was my avatar when I wrote this he has now been replaced.

Today I found myself looking at a few anthros and am thinking about getting one or two, something I said I wouldn't, especially the anthros that I can not tell way they are.

Oh I swore I could never justify spending close to fifty dollars on eyes. Yeah that changed yesterday when I ordered a pair of custom eyes that totaled just under fifty dollars. But the moment I saw them I knew they were the right eyes for my new boy. Oh yeah he is another something I said I would not do. After amassing a collection of eight MSDs I said I would not buy an SD. The boy arriving soon is an SD.

There is just no saying not going to do it when it comes to dolls.

    5. Buy a second doll before my first doll arrived... Oops. Newbie gone wild.

    6. Very specific thing. When I saw those two new Volks Yo-Midis (Devilman and Satan - Akira and Ryo) I immediately fell in love with Akira. But the more I kept looking the more I liked Ryo, too. As the After Event drew closer I didn't know what to do. Cos I wanted to enter the lottery for only one of those two dolls. I didn't want to spend such a load of money on dolls even though I could afford it at that point. Thing with lotteries is: If you like two dolls but enter for only one (because you only want to spend money for one and if you win all two - well, you gotta buy all two) and then end up not getting it, of course you'll be kicking yourself forever for not entering for the second doll as well.

In the end I entered for Akira because I liked him better. And won him. Great! And then, after the payment period was over, I checked the Volks website again. And saw they had a limited quantity of Ryos up for sale (and more Akiras, too). Well, before I knew what I was doing I clicked the "Buy"-button. Like, yah, didn't you NOT want to buy that second doll because you didn't want to spend THAT much money? *gg* I got a feeling I won't regret it for a second once they're both here, though.

    7. i said to myself"this is the last one"
      but reality betrays me!!!

    8. What about things I said I wouldn't do again but did anyway (again)? Like, you know, buying a floating fricking head that probably won't have a body when it gets here or soon after.

    9. Ahaha estelle, I think a lot of us can relate to this one! ;)

My own personal "don't"s that I did:

      1. Buy a doll that doesn't fit my group's aesthetic. For several years, I had a pretty balanced family of moderately-stylized dolls. Then one day I just went, "Eh, screw it!" and have since bought both more and less realistic sculpts. Now I own both a Minimee and an old Volks FCS and pretty much everything in between. Best choice I ever made for my collection, worst choice I ever made on my wallet. ^^;

      2. Own a female-to-male modded body. I'm all for each doll owner doing whatever they'd like to their dolls, but these were a personal turn-off to me; I could never see the appeal of modifying when there were more varied options now for male bodies. Now I own one myself and will probably have another altered in the future. My mindset has completely changed on this; now I think, "Why buy something else when you can modify what you have for cheaper?"

There might be more but those were the two big ones for me!

    10. Aside from nearly everyones faild "only one for me", because that ia a given for most of us, the list is very long and growing:

I will only ever get my grail doll---- Zhouyu was not even in company planning when I said that... Zhou was my first doll
I will never buy tinies, the are not my style -----Oh look is he not the cutest thin, the Littlefee EL. You can never have enough ELs
I will not go into fiber wig making---- Loki need a wig and fur looks horrible. How hard can it be......it can be hard.
I will not buy anything I can do on my own for my dolls------ yeah right....try again.
I will not buy doll clothes.
I will not have artist dolls, non ever apeals to me.------- Two, two are on my list now, and they will come home this year!!!!!!
I will not have anything bigger than 60 cm, to heavy and hard to handle.---- see point above, I think one needs an 70 cm body.
      .
      .
      .
It grows and grows and grows....

I will never agin say I will not, at least in this hobby.

    11. after selling off most of my collection i told myself i'd only collect sd sized dolls now and then i went on the mp and saw an msd doll and well ~_~ yeah i don't listen to myself very well hah

i also told myself i'd never get an anthro / animal tiny cause i didn't see the appeal? welp. i bought a tomo last year (well, frogs are one of my favourite animals.......)

    12. I said I wouldn't buy more than three dolls... I already have four, three on the way, and plan to get at least two more >.>

I said I wouldn't get any SDs... but I have one head, am getting another, and my grail is an SD, too. xD

I'm so bad at sticking to the plan...

    13. I told myself I wouldn't buy any bjds at all! Now several dolls in...*sigh*

    14. I said I would buy no dolls smaller then an MSD because they are just way too tiny... my newest doll is a yosd and I adore her.

    15. One doll a year. Pfffttt. Promise I stayed true to that one (;

    16. I told myself I would never impulse buy but I have way too many times. I also thought I would never get dolls bigger than 14cm but have a Littlefee and a Volks Kun on layaway.

    17. Adding to my post above, the one rule I thought for sure I would allways head:
I don't have white skin dolls. (yellowing, don't like aesthetics normaly(to pale!!!!), s***** to photograph....)
      ...
Two are sitting besid me, thou one ist not mine...

    18. Buying dolls that aren't part of the story before the main crew is home. Easy, huh? Then along comes Iple's end-of-year Doll Choice for basic price event, and what do you know, Bianca just hopped into my cart and bought herself, pushing a main character back in the process :| (I do love her to bits, though. Can't hold a grudge against them beauties ...)

    19. I told myself I would never buy a resin bjd. "Stick with Hujoos!" I said. "They're more affordable!" So glad I got over that line of thought.

    20. I'm sure I have a list.

      1: Get more than two.
      2: Get a mini.
      3: Get a tiny.
      4: Get anything over 65cms.
      5: Get and EID.
6: Get more girls after my first two.

I just stop putting rules on myself now, the dolls always seem to find a way to break them. ;)
