1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

This going too far? [ Dollfie robot? ]

Dec 7, 2009

    1. I love it XD but i think that they can modify it much more. It's like a persocom. If this would be sold into market, it will be like triple times the value but I hope the owners can also modify its movements. Maybe next time, BJD would be a life-size robot. Don't you agree? :D

    2. follow your bliss & let your freak flag fly! I think this custom work is really cool! :)

    3. Pretty awesome, I'd love to have my own dollfie robot. I showed my non doll friends this and they thought it was so cool. And they usually think everything about these ball jointed dolls is strange.

    4. That is one of the coolest dollfie videos I've seen, even better than that stop motion one!

    5. wow. I never would have thought of that. I personally don't care for moving toys. never have. but that's just me. it's a unique idea and if someone likes it then fine. rock on. there's not really a limit to what you can do with a dollfie.

    6. It is cute in it's own way.
While Most would prefer posing their dolls (As would I when I get her) some may prefer just being able to pick up a control and move them, as to shoot videos and/or show off at conventions.
I probably would not get her, but if a friend had her, I would still think she was cool, and maybe want to try to play with her a bit.

Please note I do not mean anything inappropriate by that.

    7. Many people seem to like that, but I didn't really. Well okay, a moving bjd, of course that'd be cool in a way, but still at least I tend to get bored with electronical stuff like that. Okay, the doll would have a few moves it could do probably, after you've checked them all and showed off a little, then what? It would most likely also limit the ability to modify the doll, since there'd be wires etc. all around. Plus electronical stuff, as far as I know, simply breaks easier than non electronical ones. I want my dolls to 'remain', what would I do with a heavy piece of wires and plastic after the doll is no longer working/ I've become bored with it? Nothing.
I like bjds as they are, of course the idea is fun and I really understand the other point of view aswell.

    8. It's rather cool in my opinion and neat to watch sure, whether I would want one to own I'm not so sure. Of course I'm still new to the hobby (have yet to receive my dolls) but still I don't think I'd want to wire them up and make them an electronic toy.

    9. I think it's amazing, but I'd be afraid to touch it...in fact,I'm more terrified of the price tag more tho.
It would be a nice to have tho. =]
      Better to make,I think.

    10. I recall seeing this on Danny Choo some time back. Think its pretty cool, if you are wanting a body that can do movements like this for like display or entertainment purposes.

    11. I want one O.O That is so cool~! But I can admit the creepy factor would be even worse ._.

    12. I'd seen that video previously and thought it was pretty cool. If it didn't inhibit the posing ability, it would be cool to mod a doll. I've always thought that an RC eye-movement control would be awesome!!

    13. For those that understand robotic language, the moments could be changed. I think it would be possible for companies to provide a software program that allows you to monitor and edit the "robot"/ mechs in the doll. I just believe that this would be better for someone to enjoy if they made it themselves instead of buying it straight from a store like a RC car. These dolls are meant to be made into your own (referring to the original Angelic Layer/Chobits/Volks crossover)

    14. I did not go though the entire 14 pages of post, so if this is repeating, I apologize. My view is that, someone just took the time to make the mechanics for their doll to move. Just like some of us take the time to make special clothes, wigs, face-ups, props, mods, and so on, for our dolls. I do not find anything wrong with it. People mod their dolls all the time. Not everyone likes is going to like the mods but if it is your doll and you paid the money for it, you have complete freedom to do what you wish with it. I would not do it to any of my dolls because I like them how they are, but I love the idea, and the person that did it is a complete genius!!! I appreciate the thought process.

    15. It's kinda cute...in a creepy way. I would never do that to my dolls, or buy a doll that could move like that. I can appreciate the hard work and creativity behind it but it's not my style.

Which is why the BJD community is so fantastic, you can make your dolls completely your own and no one can stop you. Everyone is pushing the boundaries, look at all the new things the doll companies are coming out with. And then loving, creative and talented people get a hold of the creations and push it further. It's really neat if you think about it, how often do we look at the same sculpt and go "wow, he/she is really different than my baby". I know I do it all the time.

    16. I think it's really awesome, would love to have one full size... you know, as soon as the mechanics are worked out without all the twitchiness. But, as long as the movements don't look that natural I think it just takes away from the doll's beauty.

    17. I don't like this so much.. I like so much normal BJD. And if I have one, I think that my boyfriend goes away! He don't likes the normal bjd.. I think that I have one like this I't over! XD

    18. That was amazing! I'd love to have a bjd that can move.

    19. its interesting, that's for sure. XD
but i can see why it would creep someone out, but it didn't to me. <3
i actually think that its pretty cool, i mean, BJDs were made to move, so someone took it to the next level, that's all :)

    20. Man! that doll was JAMMIN! lol personally i think it's a neat idea and pretty sweet the doll can walk and play it's own little guitar.
