It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. This going too far? [ Dollfie robot? ]

Dec 7, 2009

    1. It reminds me of those freaky animatronic Christmas dolls that have candles in their hands and motion sensors... who made those? Ahh, Annalee Mobilitee dolls!

I think modding is a great way of recreating things we know and love. Personally, I wouldn't want a robotic doll. It changes the format of the art form from a still life to a feat of technical ingenuity.

      At least she makes enough noise that you could hear her coming. ^_^;

    2. There are plenty of people who have made their dolls look like robots. Why not make them move like one? And for those who want more people to know what BJDs are and to understand or appreciate them, you realize that that video opens up our BJD world to a whole other culture- the robotics world, which is probably just as, if not more, populated... so more power to us. Go sci-fi, Long live creativity.

    3. I really like it actually! I think it's pretty cute, as long as kit doesn't get too human like.

    4. Is it wrong that I thought of scaring people when I first saw this?
Like having the doll sit on the shelf like normal and when someone walks by have it raise it's hand with a pointed finger. x3

      My Aunts boyfriend put a real car battery in one of those kid cars so the kid could zoom around at 20+ mph. Making a BJD a robot can compare to this, because there is no reason to do either. Why do you need a doll that walks? Why does your 8 year old need to have the ability to drive that fast? I think a robo BJD is the more safer idea o_o;

    5. I think the idea would be splendid. A dollfie capable of movement with out human touch would be fantastic! It unfortunately probably would be an off topic doll on DOA since it's more robot then doll :/

    6. i think it looks cool...

    7. AMAZING!
      This is actually really cool~

Shows how much free time people have~
      Hahaa~

    8. @KinkaGirl - Hehe...I was thinking the same thing...it would be a laugh...I mean...yeah it'd be hilarious lol >.<

I don't know if I'd want one of my dolls to have it...I mean if it's stuck there once you put it in it might get a little bit annoying. It's a cool concept though. Just not as a permanent fix.

I have to admit though...she's got some skills!

    9. I think it's pretty cool :D
I wouldn't want my dolls to do that though...

    10. It's interesting, and cool that someone was able to make this, however I think it limits to owner's ability to customize the doll. Personally, I would never have a doll like that. I'd stick to stop motion dancing, thanks. :)

    11. I dunno, seems kinda cool to me! I still acknowledge its an inanimate object, but I sorta like that it animates! I've always loved stop motion animation and this just seems awesome to me

    12. I tried looking through all 15 pages, but did any one else see this video also?

      (warning! youtube link!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isnGkUcv30o&feature=related

This is another video with the same doll dancing. It gets repetitive, but the ending is cute!

How life-like it moves is a little creepy, but I wouldn't mind investing into it.

    13. at first that startled me but I thought it was really cool. That is one hell of a modification, whoever made it must have a lot of experience because her movements are fairly smooth. I wouldn't mind having one for myself, would probably only have her moving at parties or when guests came, not much point for her to move while only I'm watching.

    14. I think that's pretty awesome, I'm curious to know how they did it. (Yes, it is a little unnerving seeing it move like that but meh, I still love it)
I don't think it's going too far, in this hobby your only limit is your imagination.

    15. I totally agree with you! You can only limit yourself.

I personally think it was pretty cool looking. At first it was kinda weird... but then I really started to think about it and now I want to do it somehow... Lol!

    16. Oh WOW. It's about the coolest thing I've ever seen a doll do!
      Amazingly Angelic-Layler-ish :OOO

    17. I think the doll's master has done quite an amazing job!
And why can't a BJD turn into a robot? I can't see the problem in fact

    18. This is absolutely fantastic.

    19. I once had this dream where Volks started producing life-size BJDs with animatronics inside, and in the dream I was all like 'well crap. Now EVERYONE will want one and people will stop making regular dolls!'

It's sort of like when the next version of your game console comes out and then they stop making games for the one you have.
The new one is awesome alright, but you still love the old one!

Or like how no one, NO ONE, still produces VHS! C'mon, you know you loved it!

    20. That's SO AWESOME! (now I'm imagining what would happen if I made a small rigging for my doll just so she could move a little by remote control or something and then making her move randomly with a hidden remote XD I'd be freaking so many people out LOL they'd think she was possessed! until I don't them that it was just a remote control thing ^w^ )
