This going too far? [ Dollfie robot? ]

Dec 7, 2009

    1. wow that just blew my mind @A@
that is so amazing and extremely cute lol~ damn i wish i knew how to do stuff like that xD

    2. I'm gonna join those who don't like it. I think it's freaky personally. BJDs are NOT supposed to move unless you move them. That's just wrong and scary. I can't ever see myself wanting anything like this in my house. It might be fascinating to some, but to me it's just scary. I watched one video for a bit and had to turn it off. It was horrifying and my boyfriend was scared of it too.

    3. wow, If you ask me thats awesome!
I kinda wish I had a BJD that could do something like this.
It would make them all the more funner to play with.

    4. Oh wow! I just went ---> O_O wow, just...that's just awesome!

    5. I don't see it as a case of "going too far" so much as taking a different route. A modern automation being crafted from a cute doll is far more palatable than super realistic robot. Those lurch too close to the Uncanny Valley, to me anyway.

I have to disagree about this being disturbing Far freakier in my mind are some of the stop-motion doll animations. I once ran across one on YouTube of three dollfies doing the Hare Hare Yukai Dance. (I will not link, since I found it total nightmare fuel and I don't want to have to hunt it down and see it again.)

    6. I think it being creepy or not has to do with what each person expects of their doll.
For, example, if a teacher suddenly came to school drunk, that would be completely shocking. Because that is not behavior expected of a teacher.
So, if you expect your doll to stay put and not move about on its own, then seeing her get up and dance would be a HUGE shock.
      Speaking of dancing dolls >;3
      Dancing dollie!

    7. I think it's cool! The video in the first post was cute, but only as long as the doll played the guitar... When she started to walk, it was rather creepy O__o. I wonder when they will be able to make robots walk more naturally, that would se so awesome!

    8. Um, I find this adorable and I want one xD

    9. call me nerdy, but walking moe maido robots are a not-so-distant future for japan imo, and that would be great

    10. I think is very cool actually!
But bjd are expensive enough an one like that would be something like OMG!

    11. I think it's pretty cool, but it DOES stop her from being a doll to me. I wouldn't want them making a dollfie line of them, I'd rather they create they're unique doll to turn into a robot

    12. I don't see any problem with it. It's actually quite amusing. XD And kudos to the person that did this too!

    13. i love this!i think that is not going too far!too far is making your ounce lovely doll in to a gore doll or something really gross like that!^__^

    14. I'm totally going to make a robot assassin doll and keep him at my cubicle. Man and if I could remote control it too. yeah.
Wait...did we just invent Angelic Layer? Dang.

    15. I think that was pretty cool. Although not my thing i bought my dolls to play an pose them... But for other people this may be what they like to each his own.. the one thing i did not like was when she started walking that was a bit creepy for me, i guess as long as her mouth and eyes don't move it would be ok. But still pretty cool

    16. I don't think that's going to far. It's pretty awesome if you ask me. And they DO say to make the doll YOURS. Haha they definitely did that :) Very cool!

    17. I actually don't really like it. I prefer being able to move the doll myself, I want to make it pose and look real. I don't want the doll to move around by itself. I can see it's kinda a cute idea. But I would never buy one. Ever.

    18. Aww I think she looks cute jamming out on her guitar, if not just a little bit awkward though :?

    19. I'm wondering why people think it's so scary. Is this based on watching too many horror films a la Chucky? I mean these dolls themselves don't scare too many people. And robots don't scare too many people. But combining them somehow is scarier? I just think it's incredibly adorable. :) If people can have robotic pet dogs and cats, why not pet...dolls? XD

    20. I think this is super impressive! It seems to me to be just another level of customisation. If you can dream it, you can do it. This person was able take another skill set and apply it to bjds. I think it's pretty awesome.
