It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

This going too far? [ Dollfie robot? ]

Dec 7, 2009

    1. I'm freaked but curious at the same time, I wouldn't want any of mine to be able to do that though!

    2. O_O

That is awesome. I would want one.
Only one though, having all my dolls doing something at the same time is worrying. But, imagine having a little tiny doing gymnastics by itself! J'adore..
It seems like I should be able to make one, but this would be too hard.
      Sweet idea.

    3. I think it's cute!!
My only concern would be: if it's electronic, I'd be worried about playing with the joints too often, in case I break it.

    4. Watched the clip and my only thought the whole time was.... 'Thank god its in Japan, and no where near me.'

I really don't like robotic anything, not even partial-BJD robots. I freak out at the singing fish, my mom's talking christmas tree and her Frank Sinatra singing/dancing lamp post. I just get wigged out by robotic things that move or talk. I'm sure all the tech is really great, and the skill had to be fabulous to make it that small, but..... Please keep it away from me! XD :D

    5. I'd love my bjd to move.

    6. Sorry, I just didn't find it that "unique" or even "entertaining". I don't go to cons and I did spend a lot of years hanging around engineering schools and automated manufacturing plants, so I probably have great expectations and am not the target audience, especially when the thread title seems to be asking if this "goes too far" (answer: hardly far enough).

    7. I think it's a bit creepy really.. I wouldn't mind taking pictures of BJDs but if they started moving on their own I'd get a little weirded out. Plus i think it would be a lot harder to get a perfect picture if they wouldn't stop moving about.

    8. I think it's awesome. A robot in a cute dollfie shell! I don't see anything wrong with it, it's just a bit of fun. Ok maybe it's a little tacky but I don't think it will change the hobby or anything drastic; although I can see some (that's some not all ) traditionalists having a problem with it.

    9. I think it's going to far just a tad. That thing scares me!:shudder

    10. I think this is AWESOME!!! it would be so cool to be able to make my dollfie move on his own like that!!! but I wonder if they started with a dollfie body and added the moving stuff or if they made the moving parts and covered it too look like a dollfie. maybe just the head is from a dollfie.

    11. I'm gonna post so I remember to watch this later today. I do think robotic dolls would be cool, but would scare me more.

Okay now I want one. That was super cool. The insides look cool.

    12. Hmm, looks very interesting but certainly not my taste. I also don't like robots or robotic stuff. I would think since it has all those components inside to make it move, it would be delicate and would make it hard to move to the extremity we move our dolls right now for picture taking. But it's still very interesting.

    13. I see the PS1/PS2 controller someone's wielding in the background to control her (probably xD)

But that's super cool, especially since those must be some very small hydrolics/levers all over the dollfie body to make it move like that...and without falling, especially the fast rocker flourishes O_o.

Wonder if Asimo technology would have gone faster if it looked like a Dollfie. XD

edit ahaha, looking through the whole thread, sucks that she's not really a bjd. I kinda want a bjd that moves one day, with the robot golden rules programmed in it of course (no killing/hurting people, etc), cause I think it's pretty cute to have a tiny guy following me around and helping find small things I've lost somewhere in the house. :sweat

    14. I think it's interesting, but I'd be sad to see the poseablity diminished. Some of the most creative poses and pictures that people wrangle their dollfies into are just epic, and I think that motorizing them would take away from that. Also, I think they'd be more difficult to upkeep -- what if something broke? Would it be even MORE expensive? o.O As a mod or an option, or a limited doll I think it'd be interesting, but I don't think I'd want all of them to go that route.

    15. I knew it , that it had to be something like this and not a stringed-bjd as we know them , I just was curius how this could be placed inside a resin body - I totaly couldn't see how this could be done , now it's clear it just didn't placed into a body , they just attached to it head & hands , brilliant ... this is something I totaly like & the fact that it comes as a mechanism on which I could "built"/"sculpt" a soft body (with a soft material , cotton/fabric/silicone) to my likeness makes it more usable ... it is obviously not a bjd but a robot but in a logical/normal price I could see my self for sure buying something like that... he he he .... he he he ... he he he ...

    16. I just hope that some day I can have a persocom. lol

    17. Oh the fun You could have at Doll meet-ups. Dont tell any one that it moves and about after an hour into the meet, when no one is waching you . with the remote Make her move just a little bit. and listen to every one Say " hey did that doll just move. Are at halloween. Just as someone is geting a good look at the doll have it turn and look at them. And oh so much more. If I had one, I know I could not resist the temptation to freak people out, all the time.

    18. That's really neat. I don't think that it's taking it too far; it's taking a different approach to the hobby :P

Some of the movements looked a little awkward to me, though.

    19. Hmm, very very fascinating to be honest. You have to admit, scaring people with that at a doll-meet up would be brilliant.

    20. I thought it was pretty cute, though I don't think I'd want a doll like that. I's like a more realistic one, though. Isn't there some doll with skin or something out there?
