    1. Blame -> Rozen maiden & Volks XD volks releases featured anime theme BJDs , if its messed up well nothing surprising though :D
      Cheers~

    2. I hate when they say while looking on a BJD - "What a cute anime doll!" Why do people talk about things they don't know? Grrr....

    3. For me it is not a bother, when they are called "anime dolls", because, we can not deny the influence of the asthetics from manga in the dolls, for me that is one of the reasons why I started to love the ABJD, but is also truth that the design has been going a separate way through time.

It is good if somebody call them anime dolls, maybe is a "friend to be" with who we can share a same interest, otherwise how he/she will compare the dolls with japanese animation style?.

    4. If the doll is made to reflect the generic ANIME style, then to me it is no problem. However, being an illustrator who has an influence of the dramatization of eastern cartoons and realistic aspects, I am always heavily offended that when anything slightly dramatic is publicized it's considered "anime". ANIME can be such a broad term, but there are many negative connotations associated with the word and quite frankly, people who won't take the time to learn their facts annoy me to no end. Sure, finding something similar in order to easier explain or relate is natural, but don't take it as a definition. So in short. Yes, it does offend me. Everything that is Japanese is not anime, same with Korean,Chinese, Thai, or any other form of Asian merchandise that reflects a cartoony or exaggerated aspect.
In fact, anime was originally influenced by Disney and western cartoons. So I believe people shouldn't base things off of stereotypes so much.

    5. Seeing how most of mine are anime oriented, I'm okay.
if I had anything else, I would be a little peeved, but just correct them.

    6. Eh, I'm not bothered at all. It seems to me that the dolls are more designed with the Asian aesthetic style than Western dolls anyway.

    7. Not really, I think its the nature of the thing considering a lot of people who have BJDs are also anime fans. Most people I know who have been exposed to them have had it happen at anime cons even.

And besides, getting bothered over something so trivial seems silly to me!

    8. It does bother me a little because I have always considered all ball jointed dolls as works of art.

    9. - because they are also called ABJD (ASIIIIIAN BJD) so if you´re not an otaku (i´ll get to this!) you clump up stuff and i think it is easy to see that people would just throw that together, doesn´t matter tho.

      - again, these dolls ARE a typical japanese things, just look back where it all started, there might be companies now outside of japan, but the bjd hype came back due to japan.
      - beeing called an otaku does not mean that you watch anime. The word is often associated with watching anime and whatnot BUT in fakt otaku does only describe a person that is highly dedicated in regards to his/her hobby. There are all kinds of otakus out there. people who collect bugs = Insect Otaku, people who love to play music and cant think about nothing else = Music Otaku, or (like me) people who like to cook and even read about chemical reactions while frying meat because they love their hobby so much = Cooking Otaku

      [...]

      - well the large eyes thing actually started with disney and the japanese copied that but in general you´re right with this.

      lots of teh luvs :aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    10. I actually found out about BJDs because of a person on dA. x3 I watched her for her art, and then one day she posted a picture of her doll, and Abio Angel Yi, and I thought he was gorgeous. *w* I one day noted her asking her about him and her other two dolls, and she invited me here. :3
But I AM a fan of anime. x3; Not as big into it as I used to be, but I love those little 25 episode things. All that popular stuff, I can't stand. >: Like Bleach and Naruto, I mean. But Spice and Wolf, Black Butler, Rozen Maiden and the like. x3
      Well, SaW is only 12 and 13 episodes, but. ...Yeah. xD;

I'm actually working on a comic of my own. My Lo will be making a guest appearance as a mermaid. :3 So will her far-away brother Flo.

    11. to me i guess it doesnt really matter. dolls are a way to create your own little person. your own work of art in real life. if you want a naruto doll, then make it. its all art, even if some people are just.. trying to look cool with them, its all about the creation. plus, id love to have a couple anime based ones. i mean, the beauty behind some characters is awesome and id like to bring it to life

    12. l love anime so if people want to make a bjd into one that's there business also l like looking at those kind of charachters. It's interesting to see what people do with there bjd's.

    13. I don't like it when people call them 'those anime dolls' as to me it makes them sound a bit cheaper. I was not much into anime and actually I didn't know ABJDs were considered an anime thing until much later after I found them!

Where I discovered them was a webcomic years ago, the creator had dolls of her main characters and I was absolutely floored by them. I don't remember what dolls they were anymore, and I didn't find them again until I discovered them with lolita things (a hobby I never quite got into) so the anime connection didn't really hit home till much later.

I generally try and either ignore those comments or try and say that they aren't anime dolls. Of course if I ever got a dollfie dream, I'm not gonna try and argue that, it's totally an anime doll.

    14. i dont like stereotypes, so for that it annoys me, i found BJD's threw my friend but also because i already kept other dolls. i do watch and adore anime, but my BJD's are not anime characters, just as much as they aren't WoW characters, they are like my children. however i can see why people connect them (esp when the local AnimeCon has a room dedicated to BJD's). i find it annoying that people also assosiate them with disney and us owners never wanting to grow up. but for me they take the space left by not having pets or kids, nor me ever WANTING children. plus they are a lot lot cheaper. which is a huge bonus in my opinion. but my girls will never be a 'madoka' or a 'C.C' and so on, they will just be my little ones. :)

    15. It doesn't bother me at all is someone where to think my dolls are anime related. If someone where to comment on my dolls being anime dolls I would simply and politely state that they are my own characters (The ones I have now anyway, I do have plans to turn a couple of anime characters into dolls). Though maybe this is just a biased opinion, since I wouldn't be in this hobby if I didn't have an interest for anime and video games. Also I'm not sure if this was stated already but the very first doll company was Volks and they did base their first dolls off of anime. So there is a connection to abjds and anime. I've also noticed that 9 times out of 10 people are in this hobby because of anime. I find what bothers me most is people who look down on any hobby whether it be abjds, anime or video games just because it seems childish to them.

    16. This reminds me so much of the drama in the gothic lolita community that often arises when people connect lolita with other groups/subjects like anime, cosplay, or just Japanese things in general. I understand it, but at the same time, some of these girls are vicious about it, and in their attempts to distance themselves from, say, cosplayers, end up totally ripping apart/making fun of other people, calling them all "weaboos," etc. I hate that kind of attitude. Concerning dolls, I couldn't care less if other people connect BJD's to anime. They'll think what they want to think. Doesn't bother me.

    17. To me it depends on how it is said. Somtimes it bothers me if they are rude about it. Other times I don't mind it is just how most people are used to seeing them as.

    18. i've never really had any problems with this, and it might just be that i'm not SUPER into the doll community as others....
but the whole anime doll connection makes a bit of sense, it seems the majority of people have found their way to dolls through anime of some kind, at least the sub-culture. esp if you model your doll to look like a certain character from a show, or those Dollfie Dreams, you're just asking for it, sorry XD

    19. I'm sort of on the fence about it. On the one hand, I rarely watch anime and all my dolls are from Korea. On the other hand, I do occasionally read manga (though not really stereotypical manga, my favorite being Shamo) and Japan is one of my favorite countries. I don't really see what anime has to do with my dolls, though--I found out about BJDs from a dA artist using one as an anatomy model. So no, it doesnt bother me, it just confuses me :)

    20. I don't mind it at all, people will say what they like especially ignorant people.

Besides I love anime and manga.

I believe that ABJD get lumped in to the Japanese thing because of one the most famous ABJD brands Volks which is Japanese, and most people find out a little about ABJDs becuase of somethings Volks is doing.
