Thoughts on a guy doll having breasts?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. Sorry for correcting an old thing, it just bothered me. I'm asexual, and am pretty certain that it means a person who doesn't feel sexual attraction :/ The word for a body that has no "sex" as in gender, is androgynous.

Back to the topic, I'm fine with those kinds. You might not always have the money to get the head and body separately, if it's only sold as the other gender, or you might be planning on modding the boobs off, or something.. You could even have gotten it on the wrong sex body with no reason or back-story at all, and I wouldn't particularly care. Most likely if it had big boobs I wouldn't go so far in researching the character that I'd find out the "real" gender then anyway.
For me, one of my doll-characters is a boy who likes to wear girly clothes, but not particularly a cross-dresser; that's just the kind he likes and is comfortable wearing, the same way how I prefer men's clothes. That doesn't make characters like that cross-dressers, because they're not thinking "I'm wearing the clothes of the opposite gender!" but rather "I'm wearing this beautiful, frilly / striped and comfortable shirt that I love".
I also have a non-transitioned transsexual in my characters; a nice, boyish girl that happened to be born in a boy's body. ^^ And this actually came about because they don't sell her in a girl body XD It was a great inspiration for the character...

    2. You know there's two seperate issues this thread is tackling.

      A) Using a girl body to either have more slender male or it fits the head better

      and

      B) Actually have a more gender neutral character.

For a) I know a lot of people that like to use Volks Tenshi Yugiri bodies because the SD 13 boy body doesn't work with the head. Or they get a girl body and sand the breast down, sometimes epoxy something down there. Big deal. It's kind of hard sometimes to get a head to work with the body you want and you have make it work. Not really matter of having something gender neutral. If they could find a body they liked and it worked well they'd probably do it. Moding and the ilk is a pain and sometimes way more expensive. Don't you think it would be a lot easier just to be able to buy the body you want out?

For issue B) well that's a different matter entirely. We aren't talking about someone using a girl body for a male doll because it fits the size better. We talking about gender stereotypes. It's an issue that's not really black and white in humans, let alone dolls. I'd say it really doesn't matter to me what someone else does to their body so why should it matter with a doll. *shrugs* If it makes them happy, and it's not harming anyone, well go for it =3

    3. Less than all those annoying bi/gay elf gothic that have girl face with more makeup than my 4 girls together.
they're always something that annoy us since we all have different taste. I personally don't see this gender body a problem but some people can. So to answer the question, no :P

    4. Taste is a very subjective thing; some of those owners of those heavily-made-up Gothic-styled ladybois might be disgusted by the thought of a transgendered doll. I think it's wonderful that the hobby spans such a wide spectrum of tastes as to include both.

    5. I bought an Illusion Spirit tiny without realizing from the promo photos how prominent the breasts on their male tiny are.

So my tiny is non-cis gendered doll. Hir in-story mom is very supportive of her child's choice.

    6. Not at all. It is their doll.
The doll I plan on doing will be a transgender male and I have plans for a transgender female doll as well.
(They are going to switch tops~^-^)

    7. As an owner of one of those heavily-made-up Gothic-styled ladybois, I can happily say that I would have no problem at all with a transgendered doll, be that a boy with boobs or a girl with facial hair. Bring it on! ;) As many dolls have horns, hooves, wings and other things you don't see too often... if at all... I don't care what people choose to do with the bodies of their dolls. The only taste in dolls I don't entertain is when people do mods/faceups/customizations really badly, and then expect everyone to think they're oh so original and talented. You don't see that too often mind, but it's still irksome :D Another thing that would annoy me is if someone posted a picture of a feminine looking boy with breasts and in a dress, then got cross when someone referred to the doll as "she". If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...!

    8. Anything goes! Personally I'm looking to have male doll with no bits whatsoever (an unfortunate accident happened) so I see no reason a male doll can't have extra. Also I would have no problem with people choosing a female body for their male doll because it fits better, if the end results is good why would it matter.

    9. I love how this thread turned into what terms mean what, what terms are offensive, and what it means to be asexual, Transgender/transexual, or androgynous.

But to bring the thread back to what it was really about? Who cares. It's your dolly. Do what you want! ^.^

    10. I think AnchixDPx brought up a good point: This is all about terms.

What a doll's sex and gender is really about is what the character is, what the owner envisions for them. If it's not your doll, then it doesn't really matter what you think. I saw some discussion on how Barbie has no nipples and dolls are so blank - so unrealistic- so that the owner can craft them according to the character they desire to embody. And that's the point I can see. It's about what the owner wants for the doll. If the owner wants a slender figured male, then by all means use a female body! If they decide, they can always mod the doll so it doesn't have breasts. Much like to make a bulkier female, you could sand off the penis and sculpt on breasts.

There's also the thought of a transgendered doll. A male doll with breasts and a man at McDonalds who has yet to have his last surgery to have his breasts removed is no different to me. A person who can choose their sex with modern technology is very much like a doll, whose owner chooses a sexed body for the opposite gendered doll (female body for the male gendered doll, for example). But this feels a bit off topic to me, as we're mostly talking on creating a body type for a doll using different sexed bodies. <w<; Just thought I'd mention it, since some others have.

Essentially, what the owner wants, the owner can have!

    11. I can honestly say I have not given this topic any thought until I read this thread  I personally wouldn't want a boy doll with breasts. Personal taste, nothing more. Some of the boy dolls I've seen are rather effeminate to start with. Adding a girl body to one of those would just scream girl to me. Having said that, it totally wouldn't bother me if others did it. To each his own :)

    12. Morally, I have no problem with a guy doll having breasts. It's a stylistic choice, and it is, in the end, his/her doll, so she/he should be the one deciding wether or not breasts are a preferable. But the one thing I'd get annoyed at is if the owner got touchy and annoyed i someone got his/her doll's gender confused. Because they are, in the end, BREASTS. Which are a definitely female quality. So as long as they didn't mind getting his gender mixed up, I'd be totally for a guy doll having breasts.

    13. well, i dunno about boys with girl bodies, but my little MSD boy is dressed as a woman and he looks beautiful and u cant really tell that hes not a woman so i guess its the same the other way around

    14. :)Even though I am new to this who hobby I have found and in my opinon it is the prefrence of the person. The doll belongs. It is there character to make how the want it. Thats what go me into the whole bjd hobby. SO my answer is no it doesn't bother me!!:truffle:chocoheart:chocoberry:whitetruffle

    15. I don't think that it's wrong/it does not bother me because like many others have said here; it is their doll and their vision and what they do with it isn't anymore wrong or weird than what your or I or the next person do with their dolls. It is just one more part of the doll world that makes then different an interesting.
This isn't the same exactly but, there have been times when I was browsing dolls and I looked to my boyfriend (who is also a collector of dolls) and said, "You know, I like this companies boy heads better than the girls', they look prettier in most cases than the girls." Like, I could see myself buying the boy head for a female doll, on a female body, representing it as female... so it is not exactly the same I am not representing a boy on a female body... but I also see nothing wrong with doing so if that is what you choose.
      Make sense?

    16. It would not. If i saw an actual guy with boobs dressed s a guy, and not as a crossdresser or whatever thats a whole other story though. Thats a whole different can of worms. =S

    17. I suppose if that is the character or doll you had in mind then why not?

    18. They can do what they want with their dolls and no offense intended, but I think it is pretty gross and can't stand it. Honest.

    19. First of all, I see a lot of people throwing the term "Tranny" out there to explain this sort of phenomenon.

As a Transgendered (Transsexual) FTM (woman as a man; male-minded female bodied,) person, I don't know if you realize how hurtful that was to read.

I'm not trying to lecture any one person, but please be aware that Tranny is a derogatory term and should not be used unless you're using hate speech. I don't see hate speech on this page, but I wanted everyone to know that it can be easily taken as such.

Now. FTM, female bodied/boy dolls. I think it's rather bizarre to even bring this up. Unless your doll is busty, you otherwise won't be seeing this doll's private areas unless you A) undress the other person's doll to see for yourself (which, honestly, would be very shocking if you had!!!) or

      B) You were looking at nude pictures of this doll; in which case, I would think that this sort of art would be a very pleasant, very tastefully done way of bringing attention to a subject that is often misconstrued or viewed in an otherwise negative and offensive way. I think the public needs more positive perspectives on both MTF & FTM situations.

Do the boy dolls in question have very busty chests?? I think that if you made a boy doll that was "masculine", it wouldn't have breasts. But I've wanted a busty doll to dress as an FTM for some time now, simply so I could express my own gender identity in a very obvious and artistic venue.

Otherwise, I wonder how people can tell these dolls are on girl bodies, other than the person stating it's been modded in the biography of the doll. (To which, I applaud them!! Modding is so daunting, I'd be very scared that if it were me, I'd permanently damage the doll by having a slip of my hand (an honest but sad mistake I'm sure happens sometimes!))

And again, I would thank everyone for not using the term "tranny" anymore. Regardless of its modern usage or this word's being used as a joke or an icebreaker, there is a history behind the word "tranny" and despite this history being underlying or not, the pain is still very much there.

As a side note...I am also an owner of a tomboy, FTM doll as well as an being FTM myself :aheartbea

    20. I'd also like to point out that some people are very bothered by the idea of "trans" dolls. It's "gross" and "unnatural".

      Remember: it's a doll.

      Lord help us all!!

Dolls are essentially used in artistic ways. And art will always offend someone; it will also please someone as much as it offends. That's why we have art -- to make a statement.
