Thoughts on a guy doll having breasts?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I actually have the problem of a male doll who is a drag queen, and I still don't know how to give him breasts for when he's in drag. I guess just lots of padding, and I tried to pick a body thin enough to pass as both male or female with relatively narrow shoulders..... I can see how this would be easier with just a flatish girl body since I'm not going to be posing him naked or anything.

    2. Mm there's actually a question like this on another thread about only collecting one gender dolls. But anyways~

I personally think that it's fine as long as the boy itself looks girly? I know that there are some dolls say for example Super Dollfies that are super girly and I honestly can not tell if the guys are guys. If the owner liked the face sculpt but actually wants it to have some breast/wants it to be a girl I don't think there's much of a problem.

I personally think its strange having like a really manly Doll head and sticking it on a girly body, but I guess whatever makes the owner happy.

    3. I think that if its a tiny doll then it can either be a boy or girl. But if it's a larger doll than it be kinda acward o.O these are just my thoughts.

    4. Personally, I find a lot head sculpts which are intended to be female (and I mean even "adult" females) so infantile, and those intended to be male so effeminate, that depending on what one wants in a doll or the kind of character or back story or personality one has in mind, the best option to achieve a more mature or "womanly" (as opposed to "girlish") look might be to put a "male" head on a female body. I think viewed out of context, most male heads are very androgynous, so I wouldn't find it strange. It's actually something I considered doing at one point, so clearly I don't find it strange at all!

    5. Will it bother you if a doll which is supposed to be male have a girl body?

No, not really. But I think that he'll look super weird with breasts on him!

    6. This is a strange one for me because when I first started collecting bjd from just collecting general dolls I bought my first SD size boy and I didn't think it would bother me to dress him as a girl until I got him some boy clothes wig ect but it actually really bugged me until I got him dressed as a boy I thought because I mainly had girl doll both bjd and none bjd it would be pretty natural for him to be a girl for a bit I guess he just really was opposed to to frilly pink thing I put him in! He's much happier now! But as far as other peoples dolls go whatever makes them happy it's how comfortable you are with your own doll that matters and if your doll matches your vision than that's how it's supposed to be! I hope that made sense! X

    7. One of my dolls was a character with a similar problem, and I found the best solution was a pair of tiny mohair wigs in a doll bra (they came out more realistic than you might expect).

As for the original question, people who use girl bodies for male dolls often sand off the breasts to create a flat chest, but even if they didn't, it wouldn't bother me so much. People can do what they like with their own dolls, after all, and hey- if someone is happy with their doll, that's all that matters.

    8. I actually.. think it's understandable ... for the height and who's bussiness is it if your dolls body isnt male .. and there male.. the character could also be gender queer (probabbly not.) I think it's the owners bussiness and who is anyone to judge it even if they cant understand it :'), if its closest you can get to your image then go for it!! fighting!

    9. I know that if I were to encounter an apparently male doll with breasts and a vagina, I wouldn't mind it. The depiction of female/male parts and/or pieces wouldn't determine whether or not I liked the doll.
And real people in this world exist that have a body such as the one you are describing and I don't see anything 'wrong' with it. Sure, it's not what one can call normal because the majority of humans are of a set design but it shouldn't be perceived as a danger or as something that should be frowned upon.

I'd like to add, with humor if I may, that male dolls with breasts or female dolls without them can't necessarily be seen as an issue considering the fact that we have men in the real world with so called 'moobs' or women who barely have breasts to speak of. There is nothing wrong with them! Why can't a doll be designed in such a way?

    10. For me, the dolls are about faceups and clothing~ So whatever body they happen to be using may not make too much of a difference to me, especially if I found that a girl body would fit my doll's physique better than a boy body. In the end, the dolls are all about customization, and if one body gives the appearance that you're after more than another one, then the specific gender of it shouldn't really matter too much. :3

    11. I don't really care what bodies people choose for their dolls, but if you get a beautiful feminine face and put it on a girl's body and then say it's a male doll, don't get upset when others assume it's a female doll. Please just explain patiently.

    12. wait do you mean full on breasts or just like little boobies XD cause some guys have man boobs, I think its so wrong having a guy doll with noticeable boobs, I mean WTH if you want a guy have a guy body, if you want a girl have a girl body. How hard can it be? its not rocket science. People need to stop being so "this will do" because they couldn't
A: Be bothered saving for the right gender body and just put up with "the head for now"
B: Obviously don't care how dumb and un-educated they look about the human anatomy

I understand If eg you had a soom tiny gem that was a girl and you decided to make it a boy, as long as you don't photograph them naked you won't be able to tell anyway.
but anything else is just plain stupidity if you ask me LOL

      interesting topic btw!

    13. Wow. Every one of your posts is like a little education in itself isn't it.

What if you chose the body because you WANTED it to have boobs? Don't assume that other people's decisions are made using the same "reasoning" you use when you make yours, not every male doll with breasts is that way because the owners "couldn't be bothered" or "obviously don't care" and really, I think it's you that's showing a marked lack of care for how "dumb and un-educated" you come across stating that as a straight out fact too.

A few pages back someone pointed out the truly beautiful and very intentional hemaphrodite doll which very clearly falls into the extremely vacant option C in your list there, that of the fully intentional and perfectly well thought out category, so perhaps do a little more reading before just making yourself look faintly daft in threads like this eh.

    14. Or maybe they're focusing on other things that are more important when it comes to that body, or for whatever reason want those traits. Not everything is so black and white. This being a 13+ forum I'm sure everyone is quite well aware of the physical differences between girls and boys, so it is highly unlikely that people make such decisions due to a lack of anatomical knowledge. The beauty of abjds is that they can be anything or anyone -- owners have incredible freedom to make their dolls whatever they like no matter how outside of the norm.

Also when it comes to floating heads, there's not much a person can do with one and finding the right body/saving up can really take some time. Why would it be so bad to put it on a spare body in the meantime?

I don't know, suggesting that owners are stupid for creating a doll that doesn't fit into your particular viewpoint does not reflect well on you either, to be blatantly honest. It is very true that there are doll bodies that when dressed can absolutely go either way. However, don't assume that people don't have specific reasons for doing what they do even when it's not your cup of tea.

    15. That's my opinion, maybe if you had a doll that was a guy and he had breast implants and/or a sex change thats a legit story, i'm mainly just thinking about the owners who would want to just have it that way cause they had a spare girl body but they bought a boy doll head and though "this will do'. I mean they might not realize how most of my points were for comic reasons only, people shouldn't take what i say to heart

    16. This is actually not a place to bring hilarity in. I myself love a good laugh here and there but it's a debatable topic which should be taken seriously.
One shouldn't assume that some people have a doll with mixed gender specific parts solely because they couldn't be bothered/couldn't afford to buy the 'right' parts. In fact, I'm sure not many BJD owners exist at all that have done this. And then to go as far as to believe they are uneducated or ignorant for doing so is rude.

    17. I'm inclined to agree, I read the title of this topic and thought it was fantastic to have something like this being logically and seriously discussed. Personally I think it's a fantastic idea and if it's what you want to do, more power to you for being creative and individual.

Just like the real world, not everyone has to conform into a little box of what everyone else thinks they need to be. I say it's a fantastic idea to run with whatever you want to do regardless of the motivation.

    18. It wouldn't bother me for a male doll to have breasts, whether the doll was meant to represent a transgendered character, a drag queen character, or just a guy with breasts!

However, I think an owner of such a doll couldn't get upset for someone identifying their doll as female. Most male BJD dolls are pretty feminine anyway, or at least seriously androgynous in design. That's part of the whole aesthetic, at least for a large percentage of the ABJD hobby. I can understand a doll owner getting peeved about someone insisting a doll is a girl after said person has been told the doll is male/trans/whatever.

At the end of the day, though, a doll is a doll. It's not male, it's not female. It is just a toy. It's no more male or female than it is, say, an elf, or a vampire, or a mermaid. A doll can be whatever its owner wants it to be. That's pretty much the most appealing thing about these dolls, in my opinion!

    19. Eh, if a male body had breasts, I wouldn't really mind  Aside from that one body I recall that was for group orders, there's not many muscle-bound BJD girls lol. Just like sanding down boobs and whatnot. So why does it matter if you plonk a male head sculpt on a girl body? Let's be honest here- a LOT of male dolls do tend to have feminine facial features or even a feminine physique. Even some Iplehouse guys, what with their rather curvy lips. It's the owner's decison, right? If someone's dollie guy can't help but want to have a maiden's body to match his maiden heart, then oh well. That's up to them. If it's your doll, then all rights belong to you, eh? :)

    20. The only thing people have to go on is what you type. If you imply that some one is being stupid or their idea is stupid what have you, then it stands to reason that they probably aren't going to appreciate it. There are many ways to let people know that you aren't in to something without having to stoop to that level. It may be funny to you, but it's not to the person on the receiving end. It also does little to further the topic at hand.
