Thoughts on a guy doll having breasts?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. I think many people who do this sand off the breasts...it also may be because the doll comes as a girl and they wanted a boy so they mod the girl body to be a boy. I don't see anything wrong with this ^^

    2. To boob or not to boob- that is the question. Hurhur.

I love the idea of a male doll having breasts! Personally, I love boobies. I'd like to stick boobies on everything. And men anyway have rudimentary breasts and under the right circumstances can actually lactate, so the idea isn't as far-fetched as it may seem.
I thought the hermaphrodite doll was so beautiful and intriguing. I've always adored androgyny, so this would, I suppose, be taking it to the next level.
There's a number of character ideas that would require the doll to have boobs: being a hermaphrodite, being partway through a sex-change, or maybe the guy just likes having boobs! All these ideas and more are perfectly valid ideas for a character with boobs. And the doll doesn't even need to have a character to have boobs. Let's face it- boobs are boobs! Most people like them, sexually or otherwise.

    3. I'm actually one of those that has a girl body for a character that is referred to as male. (or will... the body is on the way) The character the doll was designed around was originally a hermaphrodite, so while not exactly "male" he uses a male pronoun, and at first glance appears male, but, according to his story, a closer examination reveals a softer curve to hip and waist, and narrower shoulders; I elected to get a female body with an immature bust sculpt, which I'll be sanding down slightly, because of these size ratios. As I really don't plan on photographing this particular doll in the nude, I won't be altering the actual "goodies" any, (that and I don't trust my five-year-old's mentality not to giggle itself into a coma while doing it) but the goal is to make a doll that is of completely indeterminate gender, even to those who are in this hobby, and used to seeing androgynous boy dolls.

Which, in my thoughts, could very easily be a contributing factor to those that dress their boy dolls in girl clothing. They're already so lovely, and it's far easier to find an effeminate male doll, than a masculine one. I don't pretend to speak for anyone, just offering my two cents.

A few people earlier in the thread said it as well... some people find boys in girls' clothing just pretty. Maybe it's something about the contradictions? The breaking of social norms? Who knows. It's all about personal aesthetics. I'm one of these people. :)

    4. It's all about what suits your dolls character.
In some people's minds they want their dolls to be a little less manly and maybe more innocent or even have a feminine characteristic to them. Society's usual gender barriers don't really apply in the BJD world.
Mainly because they are just pretty dolls and it's a chance for our imaginations to run wild!

People alter female BJD bodies all the time, mainly their breasts-making them smaller or larger.
Why should making a male doll's body shape be any different?

Though I guess this topic can also cut into the debate over dressing male dolls as girls.
Or like my mom not letting me pick out a pink collar for my boy cat! LOL!
It's not like the cat understands human societies gender barriers. :|

But really it all comes down to personal taste. I know many people have said 'It's not my doll, why should I care?' and I'm inclined to agree with them. If I don't like how someone's doll is put together I just don't look at it.

    5. I suppose that is a bit odd, to be honest.

I admit, I am ordering a male doll head with a female body, but I plan on making the character a female. Not a male with ... erm ... lady bits. :sweat

    6. It totally depends on how "girly" the face in question actually is! As a newbie to the group and searching out for my first doll, I had to squint at chests to work out whether the doll concerned was male or female.

There is definitely a trend in certain doll companies to produce faces that could easily be girl or boy depending on wigs and face-up of course! I might feel differently if it was a really male male head on a female body, it'd be rather odd but if someone loves it, fair do's to 'em.

    7. I wouldn't be bothered at all, it is the owner's doll, but then again, I wouldn't think of it as a boy even if they said he/she was, I would just think of it as a guy's head on a girl's body = a girl.

    8. I totally agree! If its there dolls its there dolls!

    9. I actually want a transsexual doll. I want the chest plate to be female, with breasts, but male from the waist down, and a masculine head with a feminine faceup. So she'd be halfway through her transition, a "new type" or "lady boy" as they are known in Asia. I'm just not sure how easily the doll pieces would fit together because they're not made to. Hm..

    10. I don't think i care that much what bodies people put on therir dolls. i know i don't have any dolls like that. I like my male dolls to be undoubtedly male and have no hint of femininity in them. I do not get into mango or Anime which I think espouses these gender bending type characters that just do not appeal to me at all. Dolls that attract me are realistic with athletic bodies. i also like my dolla in darker colors so they do not look ghostly. So to sum this up, I have no issues whith what ther collectos do with their dolls' bodies of if they end up having breasts. When you have paid this much for an item, you reserve the right to do whatever the heck you want with it! no one else should have the right to question that.

    11. I have nothing against it myself. I think most people mod the breasts off as far as I've ever seen. I have seen a couple of hermaphrodites and that is different, however they usually have a "part" from each sex.
Personally if I was going to make a male from a female I would have to sand the breasts down and add the necessary parts to the nether regions, otherwise I couldn't personally think of it as a male.
Most of the time I just take people's word for it when they say what sex their doll is supposed to be. I have a good imagination so unless it is naked, who's to know?

    12. Eh. They paid for the doll, so they can do what they want with it.

....Honestly, when I read this, I was honestly thinking that you meant they used a body intended to be female, but was modded, and it made me think back to when I first saw BJDs and an owner had a character in the form of a Zaoll Muse with sanded breasts and the addition of boy bits.

I honestly can't say I would be bothered if someone used a female doll for a boy character. Maybe they just haven't had the chance to have it modded? Of maybe the owner has a deep character background where the character is like....transexual...identifies as male, but is a fetal female? Who knows. People usually have methods to their madness, and it's not really my place to concern myself with what someone does with their own belongings.

    13. I am going to talk about my dolls/characters here. My two dolls are both male (as far as the character's sex is concerned) however Tony identifies as female, and Heibol identifies as male, but likes being pretty.

Both of them are on girl bodies at the moment. Heibol is mostly because I am in the process of swapping bodies (his sculpt is a girl and came on the girl body), but Tony I am planning to keep on a girl body for a while. Storywise her sex is supposed to be male, but only because she feels uncomfortable admitting that she identifies as female. If I DID get her a male body, I would still refer to her with female pronouns.

Those of us with trans dolls aren't crazies I promise :3

    14. It wouldn't bother me at all. I try to be as gender blind as possible I guess. However, I find men in women's clothes and women in men's clothes, very attractive. I also like anything that kind of takes it a bit past the conventional norm...

So to your question...nah it doesn't bother me. It's cool, whatever they want to do. I definitely plan on having at least one "trap" doll, a male in female clothing :P

    15. In my case, I bought a BBD Waltz because I fell in love with the face. It wasn't until I got him home that I realized something about him wasn't feeling right with me. He sat around, did nothing...I couldn't really connect. Then I bought a long mohair wig and put it on him and it was like.......There you are!!

I love the face, but he honestly makes a better girl than a boy. I didn't do this on purpose, it just happened. I am much happier seeing him as a girl and am trying to find a girl body for "him" as his arms and legs and what not look male-ish.

I made a bra and breasts for him and even with the male body, make a decent girl. I don't care what people do with their dolls. I mean yes, it would be odd to see like a Luo head on a girl body, but most male dolls are fairly effeminate, and sooooo many people dress their boys in skirts and what not, that they look like girls.

I say....go for it and don't care what others think. It is your vision......

    16. Right on!

I'm not going to be able to afford another doll for quite some time, but I would really love to put a Fairyland Roke's head (male) on a female body from Fairyland and have her be a transsexual female.

    17. Personally, I would never get a "male" but buy the girl body to emulate a more girly figure because 1) I'm sure there are plenty of girly bodies/sculpts for boy dolls since that is/was a huge trend in the hobby and 2) I do not, and probably will not, have a character that'll be transsexual.
Does it bother me? Eh, it isn't my cup of tea but if I don't like it I just won't open the thread, you know? Live and let live and all that.

    18. I realized that I am currently working on putting together a doll of a character who is very dear to me who I plan on having as a full on female doll with some serious boobage, who is actually a male god and who in this particular canon does actually identify completely as male. He just happens to be running around in a female body for the time being because it suits his plans. Marvel's Loki is pretty awesome like that. So, he's not really transsexual. I just really, really love his lady character design lol

But because of this, I will always refer to him as he/him/his what have you because that is how he thinks of himself, and it also how other characters also think of and refer to him.

    19. In real life a handful of men have a condition where they grow breasts, so it's not incredibly hard to view it differently.

I wouldn't want it personally, as I like my boys to look as manly as possible, but to each his own!

    20. Some of the male dolls have a strikingly female looking face. When matched with a female body I often unless told would not know it was not a female doll. If you match for this reason fine. If you match a very male looking doll with a female body I don't know what you are trying to achieve.
