Thoughts on a guy doll having breasts?

Dec 12, 2010

    1. It's a bit strange but if that's what the owner wants then ...

    2. Doesn't bug me a bit; if it works for the doll's character or the look their owner wants for them, why should I be bothered? My sister has a doll with the opposite setup- female with a boy body. The doll was only sold as a boy, and neither of us wanted to mod the body, but she really wanted a girl.

    3. This is interesting. I have found by observing that we live in a world where folk judge others on their hobbies, likes, clothing, hair etc. If it's what THEY like....why should you care? It's not your doll or body etc. Folks need to be more concerned with themselves then worrying about what others are doing. Dolls or not. Perhaps it's just the folk I have personally come in contact with. I think as long as the owner is happy with their creation, let them be happy. Dolls are a work of art and some people look at art differently. ^__^

    4. Seeing as I know a few FTM and crossdressers myself, I'm not at all bothered by it in the dollie world. I don't participate in that, but I don't care if anyone else does. I have always been of the opinion that it's the owners' doll - they are the ones who spent $300+ for the doll, they are the ones who love the doll, they are the ones who have put character to the doll. Why shouldn't they do as they like with the doll?

I'm a writer, and more than once my characters have done something I was completely not expecting. *shrugs* Maybe the boy-doll-with-female-body thing was one of those things for them. Who knows? It's not my place to judge what others do. If it makes them happy, what do I care? It doesn't hurt me. *insert other trite sayings of apathy*

    5. it doesn't bother me. it's not my doll. lol.
i see where you're coming from.

i guess i'd find it a bit strange if they wanted their doll to be a BOY but still gave it a girl body with an "ignore the breasts" attitude. But if they just wanted a male doll head to portray a female doll then that's fine. most heads are pretty ambiguous anyways and with the right faceup/hair could definitely be girl or boy.

    6. No, of course it doesn't bother me.

      1) The owner can do what they want with their doll.

      2) It's a doll. People can play about with them and do all kinds of things without actually harming anything. Seems healthy enough, no matter how extreme it gets, for that reason.

      3) Heheh... when I read the title of the thread I was envisioning boobs on IH EID male bodies and hermaphrodite dolls and thinking it could be kinda cool to see... so I guess that says something about me, although I haven't had any desire to mod my dolls or use girl bodies for boys, etc.

    7. It doesn't bother me. With each doll being pretty expensive, I understand that people just don't have the funds to buy all of the dolls and doll bodies that they want. Our dolls serve whatever purpose we intend for them, and if it works for the owner then I don't mind. Generally, the dolls are clothed, so what I can not see does not bother me.

In my own experience and somewhat related to the topic, I've dressed my SD boy in girl clothes. Since his head is originally a female sculpt, he still looks very pretty and feminine, and every so often I want to put feminine clothes on him for the simple aesthetic reason of having something pretty and frilly to look at. Even though "boy dolls in girl dresses" may be the bane of some collectors' existence, it works for me and serves my purpose of having a model wear some of the feminine clothes that I own. I think this is the same reasoning for others.

    8. Since when does a doll's head determine their gender? O:
Also maybe the person who got the body was going to modify it to be of neutral gender or male.

But even then, sex and gender are two different things. Maybe the doll's character has the gender of male while still be "physically" female, or maybe they just wanted their male doll to have breasts?
Regardless, just... don't glob sex/gender together, it makes me sad when people do... :C

    9. I fully support people's right to do what they want so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else physically or emotionally.

That said, you could put my boys' heads on girl's bodies over my dead one.

I absolutely would not be cool with that- I take an excruciating amount of care in choosing the bodies for my dolls. As such, most of them are hybrids- but they're also the total package: the doll's head and body both represent the character exactly the way I intended that character to be represented. Anything else is pretty much heresy to me (When it comes to my collection ONLY mind you, everyone else's stuff is none of my bee's wax... )

EDIT: I decided to amend this slightly because I just bought a modded girl body (it had the boobies sanded off to make it a boy) and I decided that one of my girls would use it as is (minus the epoxy.). It's actually spawned a whole new character concept, and it is kind of interesting, but the point here is that it still works for the character- and that friends, is what I'm really really particular about :)

    10. Personally, unless the doll was portraying my character that was an FtM transsexual, it would really bother me to have a male character embodied in a female doll. I have entertained the notion of getting a girl doll as a base for one of my shorter early-teens male characters, but that's all it would be - a base - to hack at, saw, and sculpt on additions to make it into a male body (and even then the mods would be extensive since I would have to get rid of not just the breasts but the feminine curve and the large female butt, which is distinctly different from a male one). My human characters need to be their assigned gender/sex through and through, even if it makes absolutely no difference to their character and I would never even tell people what gender they were supposed to be. Just a personal thing.

I may one day get one or two of my angel characters, who are meant to be asexual, and in that case I'd remove any secondary and primary gender characteristics on their bodies (they're technically both identifying more on the male side of things, but being as old as rocks... kind of makes this whole gender thing to be really insignificant).

As for other people playing with genders/sexes of their dolls it honestly doesn't bother me. I don't really even need an explanation for it, I'm pretty content with "whatever rocks your boat and makes sense to you". Of course I love explanations since I love listening to people talk about their characters, but if none is offered I usually don't even bother to question. It's like, "okay, carry on, your doll is pretty regardless of where it's got resin lumps".

    11. I couldn't care less what body someone uses for their doll, but there is already a big difficulty in conveying that a male doll really is male, so a female body would just add to that confusion haha~

I know that if my boy didn't have his little wang no one would believe me when I said he was a man because his face is so feminine.

      But whatever tickles your pickle

    12. If another person did that to their doll, it wouldn't bother me at all. But, it would annoy me for my doll. If I wanted a male doll, I would at least have a male or neutral body for the doll even if I had a female sculpt for a face. I think it all boils down to personal preference.

    13. Personally I wouldn't do that with one of my dolls, but that is just me. As long as people are happy with their dolls it is fine with me! :)

    14. It is interesting though, if you equate a doll's personality (say if you are personifying it for argument's sake) to a humans, if all humans are both male and female, it may just represent the hidden or overt duality of the personality. It could either have something or nothing to do with the sexuality.

    15. It would depend to me, there are some busty bodies out there that just can't pass as a mans body.
Now if it's a "flatter" model that isn't showing off the goods then I don't really care.

But for example if it's decked out in a sexy form fitted dress with the boobies on display, Then it seems kinda odd to be saying it's a guy unless part of it's character story gives some sense to it.

    16. I have a girl who's on a boy body right now too. She was on an obitsu body, but the neck attachment wasn't working so well, and the body needed some TLC (I've had it for quite awhile), so I moved her on to a resin boy body. I had been doing some head & body swapping, and had a spare 60cm Soom Gem boy body -- it actually works quite well for a flat chested female. It's skinny and leggy and isn't heavily muscled. This may just be temporary, or I might decide to keep her head on the body and do some mods to the body, or keep her head on the body and leave it as is (her character isn't one to go around naked or in super skimpy clothes).

    17. how would they be boys anymore if they had female parts?!

    18. because

Not having seen any of these boy dolls on (unmodified) female bodies, I really don't know what I would think. I certainly wouldn't think it was weird if they were real people, so I guess for dolls it depends on my usual criteria: is it well executed? Do I think it's visually appealing?
I have a doll with a male body and a head that was sculpted to be a female who represents a character who used to be a woman but who now inhabits a man's body that still likes to dress in women's clothing (with or without padding) even though his preference for sexual partners has shifted from men to women because he still prefers heterosexual sex. Why? Because that's how the character has evolved over the last decade. I didn't plan it, and I don't think it means anything.
It's impossible and ridiculous to make any kind of judgements about the owner based on a few pictures of a doll. Photos represent a moment in time that's already over. Maybe they've sanded off the breasts in the meantime, maybe the wrong body is better than a floating head, maybe the owner just doesn't care that someone else is more concerned with their doll's genitalia than they are, or maybe it's something else.

    19. I wouldn't exactly sacrifice physical gender to have a short boy. I can understand that if modding was planned (or obviously if female parts were intended), but I could never just buy a body for the height or something like that and then just imagine the genitals I want. I don't like to have to imagine too many things.

That being said though, I actually do want an INTENTIONAL male to female transgendered doll (uhh... pre-op and post-hormones to be exact). I guess because that is where my MTF girlfriend is at right now and she is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.

    20. Does it bother me? Only if they're DDs.

Seriously, though, a lot of girl bodies don't have super-evident breasts in a loose enough shirt, so I think they can pass just fine. And even if they couldn't, hey, it doesn't affect me.

      =^__^=
