It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Tinies as a first doll?

Oct 28, 2008

    1. my tiny was actually my second doll, but if she was my first I wouldnt have my DOd shall, so its ok:) I didnt have a clear picture of how small she would be (bobobie elfkin) until I opened her up, and said wow shes itty bitty:) totaly worth it though

    2. Thanks for giving us more details! It helps with maneuvering the hobby. the tiny size is relative and also how much you're spending.

if it's for a SO then I think it's a very sweet gift to give to her. I think HD Muffin is a great choice too. Eyes and wigs shouldn't be too hard to find and you'll have a good selection for quality and price. I got to meet a HD Pudding at a meet up and she was super cute! I think you'll still find that Yo clothes and MSD clothes even out a lot of the time. I definitely don't find that Yo clothing costs half as much as MSD clothing. You probably have something specific in mind though. I think you'll both really enjoy a tiny this size. One of mine is lying on my desk next to a pack of Oreos and they're about the same length. if anything Kira is taller.

    3. I started out with an MSD, moved on to buy another MSD and didn't like her...then it came to a Pipos Baha...then a 26 cm dolls...then 14 cm... My dolls appear to be shrinking! I'd say that I like tinies best. They are easy to take with you places and I actually think it is pretty easy to shop for them. :) I buy a lot of Kelly clothes...haha...

    4. My first doll was a MSD too. I bought bigger ones after that for quite a while before caving and buying a tiny Elfdoll Sylph.

    5. My first doll was an MSD....I didn't get my first tiny until a few months later (mostly because the choices were pretty limited then), but once she showed up, it was all over.

I think tinys (especially the Yo size) make a great first doll...they're lighter and easier to carry, they travel well, they don't require much room, most of them pose well. Yo and the Puki-ish sizes are fairly easy to dress, there's lots of commercially available clothing out there. Price wise, it's generally less of a commitment than a larger doll, especially if you're only looking for that scale/size...you now can get very nice Yo-size bjds for $100-$150.

I've never really had any problems with setting eyes on my tinys. You just need to make sure the head is off, so that the S hook is out of the way. Sticking the eye to the end of a putty "snake" has always been pretty successful for me, and I've used glass, silicone and acrylic eyes. I think the only tiny I ever had issues restringing was a Secretdoll Baby Fairy, and that was only because the rods in that one's hands were set way too close to the resin, so there wasn't very much room to put the string. Other than that one case, it's been no more difficult than restringing a bigger doll (and you don't have to pull as hard).

    6. My first doll was a tiny, Orientdoll and I seemed to be attracted to the smaller dolls. I have one MSD, my Bobobie Sprite and I hate to admit - she doesn't really get the same amount of playtime as my little ones do. It may be because the tinies are portable and can easily be put away when the need arises. On most days, I try to bring a different tiny to work with me. Flora unfortunately has to stay home, but at least she's loved.

    7. I've wanted a tiny since I found out about these dolls, but I didn't want one for my first! I can't wait to get one.

    8. My first BJD was a tiny -Customhouse Petite Ai. I have always had Blythes for whom I sewed, but wanted some larger dolls for greater detail. I think I have decided that MSD sized are my favourite, but really, petite ai is just like an MSD sized child.

    9. I actually wanted a msd as my first doll. I really liked that size range and the childlike look to some of them. Then I learned of the smaller ones. I love Kelly size dolls and thought well this may be something I'd be interested in. Now I want to get on and I know a tiny is the size I want to get as my first bjd. I would eventually like to try larger dolls but for now I'd like a small army of tiny dolls right now. :)

    10. My first doll was a puki sugar. I had seen SD and MSD size dolls but was always drawn to the tinies. I think she was the perfect doll for my first doll because I could easily find Kelly doll clothes that would fit her.
