Transgender/intergender dolls?

Jan 7, 2014

    1. I'm trans, so my boy Bubblegum is a transboy. Making him girly and feminine and using a 'female' body has really helped with dysphoria

    2. I'm planning on getting a doll whose character is genderqueer! I don't plan on modding their body but presentation wise they will be very fluid. I actually plan on most of the dolls on my being genderless. Being a nonbinary person myself, I guess I just relate better to transgender dolls.

    3. The doll hasn't arrived yet, but the Character I'm shelling with my next doll is a trans woman. I intentionally picked a body that is going to be masculine in shape rather than androgynous. Quite a few friends I know have expressed their fears about not being able to 'pass', and I kind of want to support the message that you don't need to look a certain way to have your gender identity accepted.

    4. I actually do have a few dolls that will be physically both genders, and maybe one or two who will be mentally? He isn't from good old planet earth though, and he is actually well, a 'he', but his tribe is known for being born male and turning into a female, but it is not within his control. He always wanted to be a mother, but was not able to become one. Another (more than three) few characters are actually in between genders, but most will still identify themselves as male or female.

I always was interested in gender and sexuality information in general, sometimes I swear humans come up with new things everyday to help identify themselves.

    5. Lol, thanks for having a thread like this! It's so interesting to hear other people's stories about intersex/gender fluid doll.

I have my first BJD on the way and I have deliberately chosen a face that can hopefully qualify as "pretty boy" and not just "pretty girl" and a female body sculpt that's very androgynous (the not-to-have-penis or have-to-have-penis question was debated very rigorously). My Bey is supposed to be a fashion model in the story and models primarily women's clothes, but he insists on being a he and he is satisfied with his face and body as is (would like to be taller and less chibi maybe), but I have a hard time even using ze/hir with him when I think of how I would describe him or his actions and going with she/her just makes my brain stall. This will likely be a very interesting experience for the both of us.

    6. I'm trans and intersex, and I'm currently working on a trans boy doll to be like me. I want to buy a female body and mod it into male :)

    7. I have a minifee head that was meant to be genderless. I was going to get a sexless and androgynous body for them, but unfortunately lost interest in the size so they won't be staying. I never finished their story though so I hadn't fully decided if they were intersex and/or agender, or if they were non-human and naturally completely lacking a sex.
the idea of having an agender doll is still very present though. I'm just not sure who it would be yet!

    8. I'm not going to plan my dolls gender identities, I might see them as female and realize later they feel male, or vice versa with a male doll, but I don't think I'll know until they are here. I can also see having a doll that's genderless or bi gender, or honestly anything that happens to be a possibility. I like my characters to decide on there own, I do the same with the characters for my many stories that I write. They just are who they are.

I don't really have any plans, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility.

    9. I don't currently have a doll for him, but my main doll/character Mike has a younger brother who is trans, and I would absolutely love to get a doll for him, but at the moment I am not exactly sure where to start with the body and what mods I would like to do, because it's an existing character too it brings up the problem of deciding what point in his transition I want him to be at in doll form.

    10. I have a number of trans characters, both binary and NB.

I personally don't think you need to do any mods or any sort of body swapping to have a trans character, in fact any sort of insistence that physical mods to gender swap binary bodies is sort of creepy way of saying a trans person is inherently still their assigned sex. And I know that's not the intent, and most mods done with the intent of them being trans characters are done by trans people creating body shapes that remind them more of themselves, which is a really different thing entirely. But as a trans guy the implication that you have to mod a body in order to show a character as trans makes me a little ?????

    11. I know with one of the characters I plan to shell (possibly the next I save for), the doll I'm looking at, I'm looking at because... well, she's a young woman, and between a couple-few years of hrt and just the way that she presents herself, that's how she looks. Narrower hips than some mature bodies but still clearly a womanly shape, a defined bust, and like... even though the character hasn't had surgery nor does she consider it necessary, I feel like the genitals are the least important thing, like... no one's gonna see what she's got in her underwear/under her dress except for me when I'm re-dressing her, so yeah, no resin peen required. Sometimes I like having that last little bit of accuracy but it's not necessary. Besides, it feels less accurate to me to have it just... hanging out there and creating the occasional bulge in clothing.

    12. It really is very interesting how plans change when you get your doll, lol!

Although my Mi has a face and body that definitely could be androgynous, she definitely feels like a she to me - even though she would likely wear more pants than skirts.

I am seriously considering getting either a Doll Chateau Colin (the new one - love the pink hair!) or a Doll Chateau Hubery because there are so many owner pics that have them as being quite androgynous and effeminate. I would love to somehow find a way to get a doll that embodies my original vision of Bey.

    13. I'm about to start working on an MtF type character. I had him as a boy named Luca, but I just feel like I've never been happy with him. I'm now going to replace his head with a female head I have and do a mod to make the male body a bit more fem and make her into a trans-doll.
Not sure how it will turn out though as it will be my first large mod.
But her name is going to be Dakota.

    14. I'm currently working on a doll that is a transgender alien. I didn't originally plan on it, but once I got the doll in the post, it seemed like the perfect fit. :aheartbea Don't think I'll do any extra modding for it, though.

    15. I have LGB characters in the works. However, I don't have any plans for a trans or intergender character at this time, but that's not saying I won't create one in the future.

    16. Sock is more genderfluid, even if he identifies as male the majority of the time.

    17. I'm working on a project and my second doll will be transgender. The fact is, it will be difficult to find "the" body I want, because I would love a feminine but musclar body (with a 6 pack or something like that -->), on a MSD plus. In any case, this will be a boy in a girl's body, maybe this character will evolve to non-binary tough.

    18. That's kind of how Dakota's body is going to be after I sculpt on her breasts. I'm modding the Bigger Boy Body by ResinSoul. It's slimly muscular, with a slightly feminine build and abs.

I'm still working on the breast mod, there's only one and it's not permenant at the moment because I don't want to screw up and have it be permanent. But it's looking good so far.

    19. Wow, you're good at this ! Good job ! Yeah, that's totally what I have in mind. But I don't think I'm confident enough to try something like this. I suppose I can commission it to someone though ? (still new to the hobby^^)

I saw a BJD artist working on an hermaphroditic doll on a french forum where I am. I hope some companies will try too it in the future !

    20. You might be able to commission a mod artist, I wouldn't know who though lol. This is my first major mod, I've only done an elf ear mod on an MSD before this.

That would be cool, I can see companies starting to work on dolls that cater more toward the LGBT community eventually.
