Twigling Doll Discussion ~ Part 3

Aug 1, 2015

    1. @Chameleon I'm blushing thank you so much!!!
Next i'll going to do some custom eyes for her, but i have already some ideas for her face-up :abow::celebrate:abow:

    2. @$abbatha wow! Looks even better when you can see more of it! And I get that. My family just finished a total bathroom reno, and that was... It was long. Hope yours is a lot more painless!

@$avage oooh! Custom eyes you say? What colour are you thinking?

    3. If you mean what I call the 'medium' bust, my Newkiru/Nkiru has it. I don't like to be surrounded by identical bodies. As it will be a slightly dissimilar body and a different resin colour, it is going to be ok with me. I am likely to order the body with different heads in one go. I don't have the funds at the moment and, as the 2 work-in-progress heads aren't available yet, I'll wait before making definitive choices.

This is probably why I like her! The elf Ingenieuse was my first 'Twigling love'. :3nodding:

    4. @Lilla i feel you, Gamine is very pretty young female sculpt it's perfect for so many characters! I hope you can but one shortly :aheartbea
@Chameleon I was thinking something in yellow brown, since she has this great resin color i guess that yellow/brown like wolf eyes could fit her:roar

    5. @$avage Oh, yellow-brown would contrast so beautifully! Making eyes sounds like a great way to personalize a doll.

    6. been a long week and super short weekend and gotta reiterate besides the "<3" in the corner how much i love the dreads (home spun/dyed wool?) and look fwd to seeing their completion!!

thanks for explaining the divets, Reese! onward and upward = only place to go! :thumbup

finished painting my new and old girls. not completely sure about dressing/styling them yet, but here they are for now...

    7. @Chameleon i agree with you making eyes on your own is a step forward into customize your dolls!:dance
@ATYL Love so much all your 3 girls, but Kahlo is my fav really, and i love her wig also! :D
Dreads was a lucky found into a shop, i thought right aways that could come handy for some of my BJD wigs

    8. @Lilla so you got the XS small bust, or the S small bust?
I think that it's wiser to get one body for several heads, i regretting not adding Kahlo head, but again i was not in the position, finantially speaking, to add another head. I hope that you can make sooner your choice :)

@Chameleon i will post surely some more pics of Pietà with head assembled to the body, i've tried already but the doll was not well balanced, i guess i need to string her better, so i was not able to snap a pic of Pietà wearing the headdress, but was looking just great!

@ATYL holy cow :love your Kahlo looks amazing, i love her very much, love the wig, gives her a sort of personality, also face up looks great!
I've got this wool already in dreads, luckly i tend to hoarding material for dolls, no kidding , so i got this yarn some times ago, i have one in bright orange and yellow and i think i will make another headdress for pietà, this time i will use just some piece of white veil. :sneaky:

    9. That is a gorgeous wig I love the color on her skin tone Id love to learn how to make one. :) Great Job.

    10. thank you @$avage and @$abbatha ! yeah i like Kahlo best too. the ingenue heads were some of the 1st ones i painted last year, and they could probably use new faces. all practicing and learning. :) do you have stories for your girls? @$abbatha something about the headdress and also the fabric makes me think the Virgin of Guadalupe? Big fan of yellow and orange combo and white veil sounds cool. Your Oryx @$avage reminds me of someone too, but I'll wait for your enlightenment - hopefully. :)

    11. I believe she is V1? That means the first version of her correct? I bought her from the very first release of her in Rose Pink ;)

    12. @$abbatha I'm sure she looked beautiful! I'm quite excited to see her in her full glory. To kill time till my ingenue gets here, I've been planning the wings she's going to have, and that's been a lot of fun.

@$avage it sure is! Do you use resin?

    13. @$abbatha , I checked and my Newkiru has the C-medium bust. She is on the TL3 body. I'd love to have the XS small bust and looking at Reese's Flickr, I am tempted by the small bust (the one a size smaller than the C-medium bust) as well. Dreams, dreams . It is going to be a while till I can afford one body or the other. I don't want to rush anyway. I'd rather have a body that I am willing to sew for and seeing the latest pictures featuring Kahlo, I could be changing my mind regarding the sculpts I want.

@ATYL , you've got a great girl! Love the short hair style! It suits her down to a T!.:love

    14. @Lilla THANKS! awesome you love the short hair too! I want at least 1 of my dolls to have easy to manage hair lol. happy it's her. :)

    15. @Lilla Twigling said that probbaly she will make some changes to the actual body TL3 so maybe in future we will see a new body, which is something nice, i love to have choices in matter of bodies :)
Thanks for the info about your Newkiru, i guess that you got then one of the original busts sizes, as the new ones are A/XS D/XL

@sherryhable honestly i've started to make my own wigs cause i cannot found around what i was in need for my dolls, said so me and $avage improved year by year, a lot of mistakes, a lot of horror wigs, tons of tentative but this helped me to find my own way, $avage to be honest is more ambitous than me..you need to see the wig she's making for Ylsander..i cannot even get close to it
So we share the same mold, i got either Pietà V1, maybe some day i will get Pietà V2. ;)

@Chameleon waiting for me it's the hardest part of the hobby :sweat i feel you! Could you believe that i got pieces for making this wig sometimes between July 2015 and December 2015  i'm a planner!

@ATYL my girls shares a story, it's complex but it's kind of logical. I wanted in first to create a sort of trio of Virgin, so i'm a sort of awe of you that you got immediately that i found inspiration for Pietà from Virging of Guadalupe :thumbup. I want also to create a twist Virgin Saint with Ingenue head, i'm planning at the moment a wig for her

    16. @sherryhable you're right your Pietà is the V1 love her resin color! :D
@Chameleon No i'm not making eyes with resin, but i use glass dome for them, i'll show you some pairs as soon as firms to our secondary bathroom will be over for good, i have no place where work on my BJD stuff, go figure out that today they smartly cut tiles where me and $abbatha store our BJD ...:doh
@ATYL my Oryx should have folk inspiration linked to native canadian, when i see the decoration i realized straight off that would have been perfect for my idea :sweat

    17. @$abbatha I'm not a planner for anything but dolls, but I'm already choosing the colours for her wig and picking out fabrics for dresses and trying to sort out her wings out before she's here.

@$avage aw that's awful! I hope the dolls were safe from the tile dust!

    18. Thank you dear @Chameleon yes all our dolls were safe and sound but i was such upset, really don't know the skills for making dust and leaving dirt everywhere by bricklayers...:sigh

    19. wings! sounds intriguing @Chameleon
relieve your dolls are ok albeit dusty @$avage ! native american inspiration intriguing as well. will look forward to more. :)
love the symbolism of our lady of guadalupe and can't wait to see your portrayal of her @$abbatha (and the other 2 virgins, too)

    20. @$avage oh that sounds terrible! Here's hoping they're done fast!

@ATYL her character has basically stained-glass butterfly wings. I'm making them most likely with either clear resin or modgepodge.
