1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Twigling Doll Discussion ~ Part 3

Aug 1, 2015

    1. Thank you!! I do hope you're right. I am eager to hear how the tests go, but would rather have it be my choice to buy one with the new resin.

    2. Does anyone have an opinion on the seam sanding? I would love to add it to my (wishful thinking maybe) order, but I don't know if I can afford it. I know sanding would be worth it! But what are the seams like if left unsanded?

Also, can anyone describe the cream resin to me? Is it very yellow? l have seen the Haru sample colors, but I know the dolls in the sample photos are not necessarily indicative of the actual resin colors on order so it's hard to imagine the colors on a doll.

I'm thinking about a cream Nkiru... I would love to get her in dark brown, too, but cream means I can share the body with my other heads...

      Thank you in advance!

    3. The seams depend on the caster. My Ingenue was not cast by Haru so I have no idea how the seams are nowadays. I hope someone here has a Minigenue, I think they were cast by Haru at one point.

    4. That's true! I have one doll cast by Haru, but she was almost certainly sanded - there's not a seam on her, she's almost glossy!

Hopefully someone else will be able to tell me!

Thank you for your reply, though.

    5. My Minigenue from Haru has seams. They are definitely there, but fairly subtle--I've seen such worse on other dolls. If you're getting a tan doll it's probably worth the upgrade, but for cream maybe skip it and if they're bothersome you can always sand them yourself later.

    6. Thank you @Raesha! I appreciate that information. Subtle seams wouldn't bother me!

    7. The seams from Haru aren't bad at all. If you look closely, you can see the seam on Samarra's hand (running up her thumb towards the wrist) and that's the worst/most obvious seam she has

    8. Thank you, @Girrl! Your Samarra is lovely!

By the way, I notice she has the long-nail hands rather than the original hands. In some photos they seem slightly smaller (with narrower fingers) than the original hands. Does that seem true in your experience? I'm thinking of potential hybrids with smaller heads and smaller hands would be more proportional, so I was curious.

      Thank you again!

    9. Are there any updates on our summer orders? If haru was to cast them in February we ought to have heard something no? Just wanting some info as I'm just too excited to get my girl.:dance

      Have a great day

    10. @AllyCat
The latest post on the facebook page says that due to personal circumstances for the caster, the last few translucent dolls will need at least another two weeks to be cast. I'm making an assumption that the dolls won't be shipped to twigling from the caster (and thus from twigling to us) until all the dolls are done, sadly.

    11. Aha thanks for redirecting me I hadn't seen the post!

    12. I don't think they're actually smaller, they seem the same size to me (I have 2 girls with the original hands). The fingers might look narrower because the nails taper to a point instead of a blunt tip, but I'm pretty sure they're actually the same otherwise.
Just a comment on smaller heads for this body - keep in mind these ladies have pretty thick necks (10.5cm) so some substantial subtractive mods might be required to get a smaller head to fit

eta - Also, thanks for the compliment on Samarra! I need to take more pictures of her because I still can't get over how amazing this sculpt really is in person

    13. Thank for that information, @Girrl! I really love the graceful appearance of the original hands, so I will probably stick with them since the others aren't smaller.

As for the neck, I'm hoping it will be fairly simple to carve/sand! I'm pretty sure other people have done this. The head I'm thinking of fits on a dollshe 26F without sanding, and the dollshe neck is about 10cm - and I have actually seen the same head on an unmodded Twigling body. But thank you for reminding me!

    14. I saw on Flickr that Haru finished the last 6 dolls Twigling was waiting for. Does this means that we might be close to receiving our summer order? Because in the picture of the box Haru is going to send out it's only those 6. So I wonder... Anyone an idea?

    15. Twigling just posted on her Facebook page about what’s happening with all orders new and old.

    16. I’m not sure when this means my head will come in, (after May, I take it?) but I’m not worried. I’m sure when we do get our solid resin dolls, they’ll be beautiful. I wonder how this new foundry is going to work out, and I hope it works great. It could be very promising for her that she’s the only customer.

    17. I ordered my Gamine in the end of December 26, 2017, pretty much January of this year really. I’m excited that we will be getting this new resin though. This is my first time ordering from Twigling, she has a great reputation and her work is beautiful so I’m not worried either. I know our dolls will be gorgeous.:3nodding:

    18. I ordered a gamine too (though just a head)! What are your plans for yours?

    19. I ordered a girl in December also. I'm unclear as to whether or no Haru is casting them. Any insight?

    20. I don't think Haru is going to fill the most recent preorder. That was the original plan, but if I understand correctly, she is getting her masters back from Haru, and is going to work with the new foundry (which is currently working on her MiniPieta and MiniIngenue) to fill the most recent orders for the big dolls.

It sounds like this new foundry can work with the nice translucent resin which is so pretty for the darker skin tones! I only ordered a cream-white body in this recent preorder, but I really hope the new foundry works out, because I would love a dark-skin big girl and some mini dolls as well!
